When I first arrived I almost didn't go in because the parking lot was packed but when I went in the door I was greeted immediately and offer a table as a single diner to my surprise. I asked if I could eat at the bar to save them a table. The service at the bar was excellent and the choices were many. I had the blacken catfish with a side of red beans and rice, everything was well made and I'll say again they have a great staff and an enjoyable atmosphere. On such a busy evening, we were seated fairly quickly and our cups never went dry. The food was also delicious, with the only problem for me being that I didn't feel like the fried pickles were battered enough so they didn't have that distinct crunch. Yum! My son recently bought a home nearby and I visited Mother's Day weekend. Sunday evening he wanted to take me to one of his favorite places. I looked online first and was excited that my meal would be 15% off. They also were still honoring happy hour so we both had Yingling . I'm in Texas and we can't get it here so I always like to enjoy while visiting states where it's available. We started with fried pickles and studied their extensive menu. I chose the bacon bbq burger and I honestly can't remember what my son had, but he woofed his right down. Our waitress was exceptional, especially with the packed restaurant. The only negative was seeing so many servers wearing their masks below their noses or chins. It's the equivalent of cutting the tip off of a condom. I will definitely return as I like to visit my grandkids often and great food is a bonus. read more

I had the chicken tender basket. The chicken portions were huge and it looked really good until I started eating it. It was like eating rubber. The fries (these should not even be called fries) were soggy, cold, and were cut into tiny shoe string potatoes. I couldn't even eat this meal. I have gotten food here now 4 times and it's never a consistent experience. Food is great when it's a slow day and they can actually focus on making the food right. My most recent experience was horrible, half of our order was wrong and the fried pickles I got were cooked so long they were way too crispy and you couldn't even taste the pickle, the pickles were hard. First time eating at the Purple Onion after moving into Cabot. I have to say that the family and I loved this place. We visited on a Sunday so brunch was available. My wife loved the breakfast burger, and my son had the Holy Moly burger... both were awesome! I had the Bang Bang burger (photo attached) and its was delicious. The bang bang sauce and fried jalapeños made the burger. The server, Mikey, was very attentive and helpful with recommendations... great service! We were in town for a football game and wanted to try something new to us. The wait time was much shorter than anticipated even though they were busy. We ordered a pick three appetizer which ended up being three very large portions of each one. We got loaded fries, bbq nachos, and spinach dip. It was all delicious. For our meals we got a burger, catfish, and crawfish macaroni. Everything was great and came out fairly quickly, especially considering how busy they were. Nolen was our waiter. I've been to this place so often with family, but this time I came with just a friend and I. There wasn't a wait time, we were immediately seated and had our drink orders taken. * We ordered fried pickles and gator bites for appetizer. They came quickly, within about 10 minutes. The gator tasted close to chicken, with a hint of heat from the spices and the pickles were light and not greasy, but a little on the salty side. We also ordered drinks from the bar and both got the Purple Sangria. It was actually really good! Not too strong and still sweet. I definitely recommend squeezing the orange juice into the drink. * I ordered the Cajun Catfish Platter and my friend ordered the Cajun Trinity Seafood Pasta. Our food quickly arrived after the appetizers. Both of our plates looked delicious and we immediately dug in. Turns out, my fish was quite tough, especially for catfish. I even started to doubt that it was done. The spice on it was so overwhelming that neither the water I ordered or the sangria could cut the heat and I couldn't even taste the fish. Luckily, the potatoes and rice bed didn't have any spice issue and I easily enjoyed that. * The pasta had great flavors and great balance. The portion size is quite large, so definitely recommend sharing or being prepared to take some home. My friend rated it an 8/10. It comes served with etouffé, which is a combination of various vegetables, spices, and crawfish. To me, the peppers are the most evident in it so I wasn't a fan, but she enjoyed it. * The atmosphere is definitely lively, although we were seated beside the bar so that may be a contributing factor. * I recommend this place but make sure your fish is done because I don't think mine was. read more

Not the greatest place we've ever been to, mediocre at best. The best part about our visit was the service for sure. The food here was comparable to what your find at a brand new place, just opening and trying to figure out their kinks. My husband ordered the chips and queso dip to start out. Oh my. While the chips were fresh out of the fryer, the person that salted them went in heavy with the salt. I did not enjoy taking a chip, dipping it into queso sauce and then being surprised with salt. I ordered the classic burger, all beef, and the husband ordered some cowboy burger 50/50, had a fried egg on it. I noticed that for mine, I was never asked how I'd like it cooked. Mine was well done, no pink whatsoever. I'd say my biggest complaint about the burger was that the patty was too small for the bun. I had a lot of bread left over when I finished the actual burger part. The fries that came with my burger were ok. My husband wasn't too impressed with his burger. The egg wasn't runny and same rhing, the patty was smaller than the bun. He ordered onion rings with his and said the batter must've been bland because he said there wasn't much taste. Ordered pick up, worse experience ever. Waited long after they said it would be ready, was told to wait at the bar and would be helped. Bartender ignored me, actually left the bar to go outside on opposite side of me to talk with friends, was finally greater by someone and they started to put order together. I asked for a discount and was gave an eye roll, greater by manager who looked inconvenienced. After getting food and driving home I realized I had just been served the worse to go order in my life. Felt disrespected at the least. Chicken fried steak was served with jellatine brown gravy in a cup, and shrimp poyboy was mainly diced tomatoes and a few popcorn shrimp on a stale bun. So many tomatoes that the bun was soggy on the bottom. Food was inedible to say the least. After calling to speak with the manager I was treated rudely and on speaker while even being laughed at. I ate her on the first day they opened. Was a little disappointed at that time because they didn't have a very diverse menu. Moved to Texas and didn't give them a second look when I came to visit. However we moved back to Cabot last summer and went back. The difference in the menu, atmosphere and staff was awesome. We go at least once a month and have tried several things on the menu. I think my favorites are on the brunch menu on Sunday mornings. I really think you should try it! read more

We waited about 10 minutes before anyone came over to our table . 2 couples came in after us and both got their food and 1 couple had paid and were leaving and we're still waiting on our food . The sever comes to our table and says I don't know what is taking your food so long . My husband say never mind we'll go somewhere else . He talked to the manager twice and she was absolutely no help . She just said sometimes they just get busy but earlier said they weren't that busy . I will start this post by saying that I know I have a RBF. But to have a manager pull me to the back of the restaurant away from my family as we are waiting for a table, to accuse me of being rude and cussing the staff is an entirely different story. First of I never even talk to any of the staff. Then when I tell her that I don't appreciate being accused of something I didn't do, she tells me she is not accusing me of anything, she is just doing what she was told to do. I told that she is accusing me of it and that I would not be eating there and I was was leaving. I just walked away from her and told my daughter as I left that I would not be eating there. Things may have gotten ugly outside.... But Purple Onion in Cabot needs to get there facts straight before they approach someone with an accusation! read more

Today was my first and last visit here. The parking lot was half empty at lunch time - that should have been the first sign. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo off of the lunch menu, as I love any type of pasta. I was with a friend for lunch today, she had the loaded baked potato soup and the house salad. When our waitress brought out the Alfredo, my friend said "Boy am I glad I didn't order that!!" It smelled AWFUL. And that was nothing compared to how bad it tasted. I literally only took one bite and almost up chucked. I told my friend to try it and she couldn't believe how nasty it was either. The waitress asked me if I wanted anything else since I told her I couldn't eat that, and I told her no I didn't. That taste ruined the whole lunch experience. She brought us our receipts, and mine was $10.85. The waitress stated I could have ordered something to go (I guess to justify why I still had to pay for the puke in a bowl). I paid and left. I can't believe they have the gall to serve food to customers like that, and then to have nothing other to say than "well you could have ordered something else". My friend nor I will be back, and you can bet we told everyone at work when we got back also. So disappointed. read more
