I am extremely dissatisfied with this company and I must report their work and work ethic to ensure that no one else is cheated on their home improvement projects. I asked for my two bedroom ceilings to be removed and have new ceilings installed. While doing this project, they noticed that my wooden walls were old and should be replaced with drywall. I was told it was going to be a smooth job. It isn't smooth, literally or figuratively. A lot of corners were cut and I would've been better off doing the work myself. The end result has a lot of corrections that need to be made, corrections for errors that shouldn't have been made in the first place. I have lost wages by taking time off work for the corrections to be fixed and there has been no follow through by Julius or his team.
Whenever we asked Julius about how an issue was going to be corrected, it was brushed off with arrogance.
1. Example 1: the drywall for one of the ceilings was cut too short and it wasn't cut straight. We asked how that was going to connect to the wall since it was too short and had spaces in between the ceiling and the wall. He said spackle would fix this. When the ceiling and the walls were connected, we could tell that it was not cut properly and the ceiling is not a straight line; it was jaggedly cut and therefore the ceiling is jagged. When we showed this to Julius, he claimed he didn't see it and then decided to blame the floor of the house, even though the ceiling was straight for years prior to this company working on it. Also, houses that are built on hills have straight ceilings, so our house on flat ground should not have a crooked ceiling.
2. Example 2: My house did not have insulation. Instead of making the suggestion to me to add insulation, we asked Julius if he could put that in and he responded "I'm just adding the wall" and just put the walls up. We had to ask him again, get quoted for it later, and then he had to uninstall and reinstall the drywall to get the insulation in.
3. Example 3: Julius or his team cannot cut straight or measure (see ceiling post in example 1). He asked us to look at the room before he left for the day. We asked why he placed the electrical outlets crooked on the same wall instead of installing them parallel like they were BEFORE he even worked on the rooms. Julius pretended to struggle to see the issue although one is obviously higher than the other. His response was "I already mounted it." We want it fixed, he didn't feel like making the correction.
a. Example 3a: The two parallel windows in one of the bedrooms are now uneven, one is higher than the other and because it is now higher, the window will no longer lock.
b. Example 3b: There are so many areas in which the trim isn't painted all the way, was installed crooked, and/or uneven.
c. Example 3c: When I asked why the drywall was cut crooked and wasn't sanded down or spackle around my closet, Julius said he didn't want to get paint on my closet curtain...I said that's fine and I'd move them. There's no excuse for this to be unfinished, just ask me to move my items so the job doesn't look half assed. He just left it unfinished.
d. Example 3d: Some of the walls Julius worked on aren't connected and some of the trim has left a gap between it and the wall or frame.
e. Example 3e: The blinds he installed don't fit the windows, they are too small. When the blinds are closed, you can still see into the room. This is another result of bad measuring.
f. Example 3f: Julius and his team installed the trim around the windows and now there is a gap between the windows and the trim that wasn't there before. When we pointed this out to him, he said he would fix it. When he didn't fix it, we asked why it wasn't fixed. Julius' response was "It's fine, it's on a track." We want it fixed, he just didn't feel like making the correction. The windows aren't on a track and now they have difficulty staying open.
4. Example 4: Julius and his team are not careful of their surroundings or other people's property.
a. Example 4a: One of the workers bumped into the stove in the kitchen to get to one of the bedrooms and turned on the gas. The stove was covered in plastic. When we heard it come on, we hurried to the kitchen to turn it off before a fire could start and there wasn't a worker in sight. Pay attention.
b. Example 4b: Julius and his team did not get hired to redo the wooden floors, just the ceilings and walls. They did not tarp the floors, therefore not protecting it. read more
