purple cow is the worst internet provider in Nova Scotia. The Wifi is slow, their customer service is slow and I would not recommend at all.

They will rip you off, put you on hold and provide absolute shit customer service…read more Worst internet service provider ever.

There is only one thing you need to know about Eastlink. They only have at maximum 10mbps upload on…read moreall of their internet packages from the lowest speeds up to gigabit. Keep in mind I'm talking about upload not download speeds (They don't like to acknowledge upload speeds). You need upload to do things like make a connection, load video and data onto social networks, and make outgoing video (i.e. Video calling, if you work from home). Why is this a problem? Well for casual internet surfing it's fine 2-4 mbps upload works, at 5-6 you can stream 720p video. The issue is that the 10mbps upload is an average and the speed of upload varies by, get this, about 10mbps. This means that there are times when your upload speed will from to 1 or, in my case, 0.23. At 1mbps you are essentially dead in the water. Normally your upload speed should be at least 10% of your download speed. So if you have 10mbps download, you should have 1mbps upload. At 100mbps download 10mbps upload and so on. However anything past 100mbps at Eastlink the upload is still capped at 10mbps. At 300mbps download you'll still have 10 upload. At 1GB download, YOU WILL STILL HAVE 10mbps upload. Eastlink is essentially ripping you off at anything above 100mpbs. You'll see a lot of advertising about download speeds, and they are important, however Eastlink will not tell you their upload speeds. They are deliberately misleading customers by excluding this information. Lets compare Eastlink to other Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for perspective. Bell Alliant, Eastlinks major competitor in NS, has 100mbps download with100 mbps upload for almost the same price. Their 1.5GB download has 940mbps upload. That is 94X the upload speed of Eastlinks best internet package. The price is comparable, but the effect of the upload speed on the quality and integrity of you conference call, video call to your family, or upload time on Facebook is not even comparable. If you do have Eastlink, you will find on windy days that your upload speeds drop, if you had 100mbps upload, this wouldn't be an issue, at 10mbps, you will likely drop to 0, rendering your internet useless. How do I know this? The Eastlink technician that was sent to my house told me, and I've been acutely aware that on windy days the internet speed suffers. Utility companies used to have this problem with electricity lines, in the early 1900s.... Finally, Eastlink customer service, either doesn't think that this is a problem, or has been specifically told to be obtuse about the little upload speed fib. They don't seem to register that low upload speeds can have an effect on your internet usage, and are eager to send a technician out to pretend to fix an issue with a new plug or cable, when at the heart of the problem is Eastlinks network ability. TL;DR If you are going to work from home, upload streaming video, post things to the internet, or do any type of IT related activities through Eastlink internet, it's time you've considered a different ISP. If you want to check Facebook and watch Netflix, anything over their 100mbps download, 10mbps upload package is redundant and a waste of money.

I have mixed emotions about being a Rogers customer. I have been with Rogers for about 2 years now…read more I switched from Aliant because I could not seem to go on a plan that met my needs. My Aliant bill was never consistent and it was far more expensive than I wanted. I switched to Rogers (ported my phone number) and also got a second phone on my plan. I immediately found a plan that met my lifestyle and that would save me a ton of money. So...the best part of Rogers is that my bill remains the same every single month and it's always within my budget. The part of Rogers that I'm not happy with is their customer service. This seems to be a common issue that Rogers customer have. Everytime I call there (which seems to be more that I would like), I get a rep that doesn't seem to have a clue about how to read or explain their bill. I find it very confused and very fursurating! They need some further training and they need to learn some soft skills.

I went to this store to pick up a new Baby SIM card for my iPhone. I called ahead to ask whether…read morethere would be any. They said there were some, AND when I arrived there were some (ya'll know there was a chance there wouldn't be any) Then when the agent was signing up the SIM card he noticed I was paying 20$ for one of my phone packages. He then proceeded to tell me he would change it a new one (that had the same services) as it was currently cheaper. Yes! Cheaper! I didn't think this was even possible for agents to offer! Needless to say I was impressed. He then made sure my phone was up a running and installed my new case for me. I think this just goes to show how the new approach to customer service (using automated telephones) really takes away from the customer experience. For the last few months I have been thinking about leaving Rogers, but this individual has given me a glimmer of hope.

I signed up for a $35/month BYOD plan with pre authorized payments. I was told there was a setup…read morefee, but the amount wasn't disclosed. When I set up payments, Virgin's system offered to process the setup fee as a one time payment for $134.50 (why is this so high?) and confirmed it would be processed in 3-5 business days, with my balance showing as zero. I saved the confirmation. After the due date, I received a notice that I was late paying the set-up fee of $134. Customer service chat rep explained that the system "doesn't actually process one time payments" and "the system just says does that" and said I should have known this message was false. I was transferred to an accounting representative who repeated the same explanation and when I asked if he could just process the payment now - No, he wasn't authorized to accept payments. The $134.50 fee itself doesn't match any published Virgin Plus fees for a BYOD plan. The next month, I received a $40 bill instead of the agreed upon $35, and the bill needed to be paid. Curious, I asked the chat rep about the extra 5 and to check my preauthorized payments, I was told the system "just hasn't taken" it yet, the extra charge is tax and the best part "You don't need to contact us anymore, just read your contract." On their website, they state they are proud of their award-winning customer service. I've now requested that the $134.50 be corrected, but overall the experience has involved unclear billing, inaccurate system messages, and unhelpful customer service. I cannot recommend Virgin Plus based on this experience.
