I have had the recent misfortune of engaging Puroclean to mitigate some water damage in my basement. They are the most dishonest company that I've dealt with in recent memory. 3/7, Skylar arrived. The first thing that I noticed about Skylar, was that he smelled of pot. I felt like I was kind of stuck, because if I sent him away and asked for someone else it would probably be a few more days and it was already a couple of days since the water leak. Also, I thought, how hard is it to set up some blowers, so I kept an eye on them and went ahead with it. I also asked Skylar what the cost would be for job. He said $1,000. They set everything up and I asked again about the price and he confirmed that it would be $1,000. Also, he said the price would be the same, even if we had to keep the machines going through the weekend. 3/8, Skylar called around Noon and said that he was still at another job and would let me know when he was done and would be by then. He sounded high and I had to repeat everything 3 times. He called back around 4:00 and said was still at the other job. I told him not to worry about coming because I didn't think it would be dry after only 1 day anyway. Again, I had to explain myself 3 times because he sounded even more high than he did before. After that, someone else called and I said that if they worked on Saturday, they could just wait until then to assess the progress, if there was no extra charge for that. 3/9, someone else came out, picked up 2 of the 4 blowers and left. It took about 10 minutes. 3/11, the remainder of the equipment was picked up. 3/14, I was sent an invoice for $1,922.76. I called and left several messages, asking for someone in billing to discuss the reason for the invoice being almost double of what I was told it would be. No response. Finally, I submitted an inquiry through their website contact form, asking to speak with Britni, in Sales. 3/27, Britni called me. I explained everything and she said she'd get back with me. 3/29, Britni called me back. Her response was that technicians are not allowed to give estimates and that they are drug tested regularly. This was a surprise because that's where she seemed to want to end the conversation. I reiterated that he did indeed give me an estimate and he did smell like pot and he was representing your company, so that's all I had to go by. She said that she asked Skylar if he gave me an estimate and if he had been smoking pot. He said no to both. And that was it. Not even a drug test, as far as I know. Then she offered a 20% discount and that that was the most Accounting would let her do. First of all, I've been in Accounting for 35 years and nowhere where I've ever worked, does Accounting tell Sales what to do. It's always the other way around. Second, Britni, her sister Meghan, and their mother OWN the company. They can do whatever they want. So this offer was all BS, or at least her explanation was. Finally, I asked for a detailed invoice because she also said I was being charged for the whole weekend after Skylar said I wouldn't be. 4/11, I final got another invoice, but it was not detailed and still for $1,922.76. So, I called the office and got Misti (receptionist). I asked why the invoice did not include the 20% discount and she responded with an email that said that it was only good for 10 days from 3/29, per Britni. But as a "courtesy," would extend it 10 more days, starting that day. At this point, I had to weigh my options. Pay the $1,000 estimate and take my chances that they would sue me for an additional $922.76 and negatively impact my credit, which I'm sure they would do. Or, pay the "discounted" amount and have the option of suing them for the $538.21 that was overcharged vs the quote. I decided to pay the $1,538.21 and preserve my good credit rating. 4/18, I paid the $1,538.21, in person, with a cashier's check, because I didn't want them to have my bank account information. Every step of the way, they lied to me, so there was no way I'd give them a personal check. And I also got a receipt for the payment. But no updated invoice. Misti told me that they would send me an updated invoice with the new amount, now that I paid. I was skeptical as to whether I would actually get a corrected invoice, but since I had everything in writing and a receipt for my payment, I felt like I was covered, from a legal standpoint. 4/24, Misti called to tell me that I'd get the updated invoice, after Accounting deposited my check, in a couple of weeks. Again, this is just not how it works. I've never seen a company go more than a week without making a deposit. Just more lies. On 5/21/24, I got a new invoice with the correct amount, matching my payment. After 2 1/2 months, if I choose to not sue, this long nightmare of an experience is over. The level dishonesty the Puroclean deals in unbelievable. Not a single person that I dealt with told the truth. read more

Stay far away from this company. They billed me for $2k worth of work they didn't even perform. Had an over $20k project that they completely ruined. Kitchen cabinets falling off the wall, entire dining room floor is buckling after one month along with other issues that will need to be addressed. I contacted them, they agreed it was a result of their workers not doing the installs correctly, and even had a new sub come out and give an estimate to redo the work. Puroclean then emailed me saying they had approved the new work to be done and would be in touch to schedule. Then nothing. Got an email a week later saying they were going out of business and sorry for the inconvenience. Now I'm stuck with a very expensive project that I paid for in full, only to be stuck with a hack job that I will have to pay to be fixed out of pocket. The entire experience with this company from start to finish was completely stressful, expensive, and down right criminal. I will never use a company like this again. read more

Insurance claims are tricky. When it happens to a home owner, it is them that are inconvenienced. It is pretty traumatic and all the homeowner wants is the normalcy back into their life. Dealing with a good agent that is there for their client, to explain to them the process, is huge. Working with a restoration company that you have built trust with so that your clients are taken care of is the reason why we are in the industry. We want to be there to help when something happens to them. If the process is explained thoroughly, then the homeowner is great with that. It is a team effort. My family and I have recently been displaced due to a fire that damaged majority of our apartment building. Like most head of households, i instantly panicked and claimed everything a total loss. Everything was effected by the fire from our soft goods like clothes, linens, towels etc, to our furniture. Most was severly damaged from the heavy smoke and water damage caused by the fire. This is an industry that is created by fear and the need to bilk money from insurance companies and people who are in one of the most stressful times of their lives and these folks are a big contributor to that fraud. We asked to have a mold test performed PRIOR to any remediation and they refused saying that "they already knew there was mold". We opted to find an independent tester before we forked over thousands and thousands of dollars to this company just on their say so. Boy are we glad we did because the mold detected in the basement was just slightly above average and after having air scrubbers in the house for 3 days and spending less than 1/10th of what Puroclean wanted us to do on just their word we had a 99.7% clean air quality reading. I asked the company for a clear explanation on what the process would be prior to the work being performed and their response to me was "read the estimate"! Obviously they have something to hide as most business do when they are trying to pull something over on the customer. My suggestion is to do your research and don't use companies such as this one that won't clearly define what they know and are going to do prior to billing you for tens of thousands of dollars. Worst customer service ever. If you contemplate this company, read and re-read your estimate. Incredibly vague and phrased to benefit only them. They did a great job on mold removal but once an issue came up with the flooring, we had to contract another company to remove the floor before they could complete their work. I short paid their invoice by $100, the floor removal cost us $350, more than fair for what they could not do under their estimate. They would prefer to lose a customer over this small amount, and jeopardize a Yelp review. It was amazing when they called to discuss the short pay - customer service (if that's what you want to call it) representative yelled and was incredibly rude. Apparently the store manager overheard the conversation because it was only a few minutes later that she called me, apologized, and promised to look into the situation. Like I said, read and reread anything you get from this company because they do not know how to write a proposal and how to treat a customer. read more
