I completed a job for Ram Construction in December. The project required me to drive two hours each way, and I also paid out of pocket for all setting materials. As of today, I have not been paid because the owner has not authorized the payment. This has caused serious financial hardship for me as a subcontractor. Our company had a sewage drain issue that resulted in the potential of the floors and carpeting in the office space being contaminated. Ram Restoration was called in to help us with this . A crew was on hand promptly, were clean, professional and respectful of the business going on around them. They treated the areas effected, killing any unwanted contamination, then cleaned our carpets and flooring. Knowing our employees and visitors are safe from any environmental issues that may have arisen from the situation is comforting. The pricing fell right in line with where we felt it should have been. A 175 square foot section of my basement carpet was soaked with water from a leaky pipe. I used a carpet cleaner to extract most of the water out (could have also used a wet/dry shop vac). The carpet was still wet and needed to be lifted and dried. I looked on the internet and found Ram Restoration. I called them around 8 AM and they arrived at 2:30 PM the same day. The guy (Jake) was at my house for 2 hours and he spent a minimum of 1/2 hour of that time talking on the phone about other jobs. I had everything moved out of the way when the guy (Jake) arrived. He took 2 doors off the hinges, removed a baseboard, lifted the 175 square foot section of carpet, set up a couple fans, and set up a large dehumidifier. The guy was saying that that all my weightlifting equipment in the dry area needed to be moved to check for more wet carpet (didn't feel wet), maybe a mirror had to be removed, maybe drywall had to be cut, maybe walls had to be painted. I told him I didn't want my weightlifting equipment moved and thought the drywall was Ok. I asked for an estimate of the job. I asked several times. He said it was impossible to know and the insurance will most likely pay. Before the guy left, he asked me to sign a Restoration Insurance Authorization Contract and asked for a $1,000 check to cover my insurance deductible. At that point I wish I would have told him to give me an invoice for the work he had done and take his fans and go. I signed the contract, wrote a check for $1,000, and he left. The guy said he would be back the next morning at 10:30 AM with a crew. He left around 4:30 PM and the $1,000 check cleared the bank the next day. The contract I signed said that Ram Restoration has the right to charge a 10% cancelation fee of the total work scope if the customer cancels after services have been performed (exact words). The problem with that is that the guy would not give me an estimate of the total work scope. After the guy left, I started having second thoughts about what I signed. I called Ram Restoration the next morning at 8:00 AM and told the lady who answered the phone to have someone come and pick up the fans and the dehumidifier. I told her my insurance had not approved the claim and I wanted to end the work. I expressed my concern about the 10% clause. The guy showed up with 2 other people at 10:30 AM and asked to measure the basement. He had no reason to measure the basement. I already told Ram Restoration I didn't want any more work done and had the fans and dehumidifier sitting out in the driveway. I think this measuring the basement had something to do with the 10% cancelation fee. I received an invoice in the mail from Ram Restoration a few days later. Ram Restoration only refunded $325 of the $1,000. On the invoice the guy listed that he moved various furniture and weight equipment. There was a lot of weightlifting equipment in the wet area, but I moved it all before he arrived at my home. There was one not so heavy pulldown machine against the wall in a barely damp area. He told me it needed to be moved. I slid the pulldown machine across the floor, and he assisted. It took less than a minute. We pushed aside an ottoman where we were sliding the pulling machine. That took less than 5 seconds. The guy considers pushing an ottoman 2 feet as moving various furniture. That along with being charged $675 made me angry and that's why I am taking the time to write this review. I checked the Home Depot website, and I could have rented the 2 industrial fans and the dehumidifier for $100 for 24 hours. I think $350 would have been a reasonable invoice amount from Ram Restoration. This is my reasoning: Service Call: $80, Equipment Rental 24 hours: $100, 1 1/2 hours labor: $120 ($80 an hour), Pick up Equipment from driveway: $50. Total:$350 The plumber who came the same morning replaced a pipe and pressure regulator. The pipes needed to be soldered together. That took about 2 hours and cost me $280. That is reasonable. The plumber didn't ask me to sign a contract. I am not writing bad reviews for the plumber. As of the writing of this review (1 week later) the insurance company has not approved the claim. It's under review. I wish I would have never called Ram Restoration but thankful I did not let them do more work the next day. I got the impression they wanted to run up the bill and collect the insurance money. You should be careful of all restoration companies. There is really no reason to sign a Restoration Insurance Authorization Contract. It would be better for you to find someone to help you lift the carpet and rent some industrial fans and a dehumidifier from Home Depot. Buy or borrow a wet/dry vac if you do not have one or try using your carpet cleaner to extract the water. You could hire your own contractor to do the drywall if that's needed. You could buy your own carpet if the carpet needs replaced. The insurance company will pay you directly if they approve the claim. read more

We had out bathroom remodeled in the summer of 2014. Our first contractor messed up so bad we wouldn't let him back on the job to fix his mistakes. I hired Ram Restoration to fix the tile/grout issue in the shower. The job: Remove shower door, repair grout and reinstall the shower door properly...(reverse the shower door since it was installed backwards...) I had heard good things about Ram, read good reviews and I liked that they were willing to take the job...to fix another contractor's mistakes. Total price $268 half due at contract signing. After waiting about a month and a half for them to start...they sent a guy to repair the grout, which didn't take long to realize that the grout issue wasn't that spots were missed but it was completely applied wrong by the previous contractor. This would require the grout to be removed completely! Ram agreed to remove the shower door while we worked on fixing the grout ourselves (Ram wanted another $4,000 to remove and replace the tile and apply new grout...) um, NO! So I suggested that we do the grout work ourselves if they could remove the shower door and reinstall it once completed. They agreed and sent two guys out to remove the shower door, I assumed so the grout could be fixed. I came home from work that night and the shower door had been removed, flipped and reattached. This of course, inhibits our ability to fix the grout. The door wasn't even sealed and they broke a tile and sloppily tried to patch it up. They also put a gouge in the shower base that was starting to rust. About a week later I get a call from Dave Weir (lead contractor on the project) wanting the remaining $134...! I told him the job wasn't done and I wasn't paying. He said the job was to flip the door, they did that and they wanted their money. He said he would drop the price to $65 that I owed since they didn't fix the grout. I then sent him pictures of his guy's "finished" product and asked if this was his definition of a job that was complete. How does an unsealed shower door and a broken tile with a ugly patch job qualify as complete and efficient? I threatened to go to the BBB and his response was to send a site supervisor accompanied by himself to view the work. He then apologized profusely and told Rob Long (the site supervisor) to assist us any way possible. Rob removed the shower door so we could repair the grout and said whenever you're ready I'll come back repair the shower base and put then door back on. Thanks to a friend who is familiar with this type of work, the grout is now repaired and the door was ready to be reinstalled.... Is that the end of our headache...? I called Rob on April 22nd and told him we were ready for the shower door. His response..."Oh...well...I'm really swamped right now. I promise I'll get back with you after I call Jackie and see when she can schedule me." I waited about a week and a half...nothing. Called again..same response. He's gotta call Jackie! Called again a couple days later...He's swamped still and has to call Jackie. A couple days later, I sent Dave Weir and Rob Long a text asking when they were going to start. He'll check with Jackie and see if she has it scheduled...! I even left a voice mail with Dave Weir about the issue. No response. I called and left a voice mail with Jackie myself to see if it's scheduled. Nothing!! About a week later I called Ram back to give them a last chance to redeem themselves. Steve (I think was his name) answered the phone. I explained the situation and threatened to go to the BBB if the door was not reinstalled as Dave and Rob had stated. I got a call back about 30 minutes later, and Steve said Rob would be out on the following Friday. Rob did arrive on the Friday as stated to reinstall the door. The $65 was paid and the door was sealed and ready to go... well, that's what I thought. The stationary glass panel (part of the shower door) had a break in the seal at the bottom where water had been leaking out. This was discovered about a week after Rob had worked on the door. At this point I'm done with Ram and I called our friend who did the grout work to fix it. He did and its been working fine. I think I have given Ram every chance to redeem themselves and they have failed every time. The only thing that would satisfy me at this point is a full refund of my money, however I doubt that will happen. I'm curious how a company with so many good reviews did such a poor job. My theory is that the job was not a high dollar project but I can't say for sure. read more

On 4/16/2021 I had a major water leak in the lower level of my home. The entire lower level was flooded with water. I was able to shut off the water supply and then started calling water remediation cleanup companies. When I called RAM Restoration, they said they could send someone out right away. Within a few hours, they arrived and started moving furniture and other items out of the flooded area and into another room. Then they began sucking up the water, removed the carpet padding and baseboards and set up big fans to air everything out. They returned every day or two to check on things and move the fans around. After about a week, they returned and removed all of their equipment. When I asked when they would be back to replace the carpet padding and put all the furniture back, I was told they had to wait to be paid by my insurance. They asked me what my homeowners insurance deductible was and I told them $1,000. They said they would need me to write them out a check for $1,000 before they left that day. I thought I wrote them a check for $1,000 but I can't find it in my register. It has been so long, I forgot. Maybe I paid them in cash. Which reminds me that I never got a receipt or even a work order. The only work order that I received was from Jake on 6/22/2021 when he came over with the boss man. That work order was for the rebuild part of the work. It has now been over 2 months since the water damage occurred. I called their office and left several messages with the receptionist. She told me that someone would get back to me shortly. No one ever called me back. Finally, I left a message on their online feedback page. I told them they had until next week to get back to me or I would find someone else to finish the job. Finally, on Friday of the following week I got a call back from Jake. I explained that I had been waiting for 2 months and I am not very happy about the delay and lack of communication. Jake said that he and his boss would be out the following Tuesday (6/22/2021) to re-assess the situation. When they arrived, they said they had not been paid by my insurance yet. This was not correct. I had already spoken to my insurance and they provided proof that they had sent checks out to them. RAM continued to say they never received any checks, even though I had showed them a printout from my insurance company showing the checks were sent. RAM told me they had recently moved and maybe the checks were sent to their old address. I am not sure why RAM provided them with an old address or why the post office didn't forward their mail. In either case, I don't see how this is my fault and I am forced to wait 2 months for them to return and finish the job they started. So, yesterday when Jake and his boss were here, I asked them when they could get started. Jake said maybe a week or two. I then asked how long it would take. Jake replied about 3 weeks. By now I am really getting frustrated. I was planning a family reunion cookout on July 4thbut I had to cancel it because of the mess downstairs. I don't see what the problem is. I would think 3 days should be sufficient to install new carpet padding, relay the carpet, repair any damage they caused by removing baseboards, drilling holes, etc. and move all the furniture back. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the boss man and he said there is nothing he can do. I replied yes there is, you can give me a discount for my inconvenience and start the rebuild right away. The boss man said he would need to get with his boss and promised to call me back that afternoon. He did not call back yesterday as he promised, nor today either. I tried to call Jake but he doesn't answer my calls. Then I called the RAM main office again. The receptionist said they are extremely busy with other customers, but she would try to reach both of them (Jake and his boss) and ask them to contact me. I finally received a phone call back at 4:30 pm on 6/23/2021. I was expecting it to be Jake, since he was the person I had been working with. But it was the boss man (Ron or Rob?). He started off by saying he was the one that came to my house yesterday and that he had promised to call me back (he was only a day late). He then said that they cannot finish my rebuild in the timeframe I had requested (ASAP) or with the money they are receiving. He suggested I contact another company to do the rebuild. Then he wanted to know when he would be paid. Are you kidding me? They came over and torn up my lower level, didn't finish the job and then wants to know when they'll be paid. I told him I would have to get back with my insurance company, thanked him for the call and hung up. They never offered me an apology for taking so long to get back to me, for not finishing the job or anything. He simply said that was not enough money and they are too busy with other customers. Whether you are a Veteran or not, I would suggest that you stay away from Ram Restoration. read more

We appreciated the ability to work with USAA in the mitigation we needed for our basement. It was all done as quickly as possible. I was told people would be there everyday until it was done, but that was not the case, but it did get done in a timely manner. Their carpet guy went out of his way to get carpet down and even got a better carpet for the same price than we originally had. read more

This company is not to be trusted. We signed them to build a garage. Paid a fee for contract agreement then a quarter prepayment up front. Total of this was $14500. The project was cancelled after permit issues- a City of Dayton problem-not Ram. This was Mid October 2018 and to date Ram has not repaid us our money. I would suggest not giving them any up front money if you even want to go that far. read more

Called RAM Restoration on 4/12/18 to set an appointment up for mold removal. They wanted to set an appointment up for 4/20/18. I had asked if it was possible for an earlier appointment as I was needing this work done sooner and she stated that she would get with Doug and get back to me. She left voice message late afternoon on 4/17/18, I called back morning of 4/18/18 and she was wanting to set the appointment up for the following week. Really? The following week? Total waste of time for me and I'll be getting with someone else that can come out a lot sooner and probably give them the job. If RAM Restoration can't even return calls promptly to schedule an appointment to look at and give an estimate I'm not sure I'd want to hire them to actually do the work. read more

They did mold remediation last year for us. Dick Hawley who no longer works for them told us that mold would not come back and we had a guarantee in writing. Well mold is back in the same place and now I am told there is no warranty against mold even though there was supposed to be a barrier in place. I can't get Randy the owner to call me back after multiple phone calls. Though thy had no problem calling back when I was paying them more than 3000 dollars.
