Edit: After completing and submitting a quick line by line analysis of the original cost estimate quoted, the work that was completed, and the final invoice, the company representatives were responsive and understanding of my frustration on the price estimate and invoice correlation (or lack there of). They quickly reached out at that point and to make sure that the billing issue was corrected. Our new total is a little under $1k, which actually lines up much better to what we were originally quoted and the work the was actually done. The invoicing system that this company is using is a new to them system and caused quite a bit of issues in the pricing of our project. I do not think that my experience is the normal experience for this company, however, I do HIGHLY recommend thoroughly reviewing your cost estimate prior to work being completed and making sure that you have a THOROUGH understanding of what you are paying for. Original issue: They originally quoted us $3000 for a total wall replacement and new Subfloor. They were able to adjust the wall and replaced a square of floor board and still tried to charge us almost $1700. Attached shows the original estimate which included taking the entire wall out and replacing. The final $1339 invoice is not including the $304 deposit that we made on the original estimate. That included, puts the total paid $1643. There entire invoicing system seems insufficient for customer needs. I have a limited idea what I actually am paying for at this point. The original estimate I assumed was paying for entire day or 2 labor, but of course I have no idea since labor and materials don't have their own line items. From the entire billing process it seems as though they arbitrarily put in numbers. I was told I would get a 10% military discount, but I have no idea if that is the case as their is no line item showing that on the invoice. I am extremely disappointed in the billing process of this company, had I known that I would being paying 66% of the original estimate for 25% of the work, I would have actually had them do all of the work I was quoted for. I genuinely feel deceived and robbed at this point. I guess the only silver lining is my door shuts easily now... I will also say the quote process was easy and well executed. read more

We hired BGC to install a door and build a small patio.. but it turned into so much more ( in a good way). They ended up putting in 2 doors, building a bigger patio then planned ( our request), doing a concrete walkway and will be installing siding on our house very soon. Mark is easy to talk to, helps with suggestions and fixes any issues QUICKLY! Justin was the main guy doing the work and he bent over backward for us ( much of these projects was a surprise for a family member who was out of town). Justin came on his day off to do work so the "surprise wasn't totally ruined" ( family member came home 2 days early) ! I was looking for a bid to replace most of my windows in my 104 year old house. Mark Schulte, the owner of Builder's Group asked me if I would rather keep my old historic windows if he could repair them so that I could use them, so that they looked good, and so that they were more weather efficient. Of course I said, 'Yes.' So, for half of the price of new windows for about 3/4 of the house, he and his workers removed all my windows, sanded them down, replaced the weighted ropes, and sealed them. BGC and Mark Schulte the contractor that I hired to do a 16x20 deck with custom rails completely botch the job from day one. He starts construction without a permit and built the rails that were not to code and workmanship was shoddy. The deck needed to be demolished and rebuild cause it was not up to code and was build incorrectly. That was back in Sept. 2020. He finally got it done but not all the way on May 2021. He did not provide the stair rails and tried to tell me that it was not part of the deck when he fully knew that I request the stair rails. I do give BGC owner Bob credit for making things right by rebuilding the deck to code. As for Mark Schulte if you need a deck please stay away from this contractor. I have all the pictures and video of the poor workmanship , no attention to details when attaching the post and rails. That is the one thing he can not refute. Find a reputable deck builder cause this guy was no glue on who to build a deck. read more
