Making a bad situation far, far worse…read more I recently had a catastrophic plumbing failure flooding 2/3 of the downstairs of my house. Worse still, I was 1,000 miles away and unable to return home. The good news is that upon calling ServPro they immediately called me back and had a project supervisor on the ground to access the situation and come up with a plan. That too was handled quickly and, as I was not able to be there (though I had eyes and ears there thanks to helpful neighbors) the project manager assured me that I would receive regular updates and that nothing, outside of the saturated sheet rock and flooring would be removed without my approval. If it were just for this, I'd give them **** But the situation got much worse very quickly. First, the project manager, despite repeated assurances she'd keep in touch with pictures and detailed updates did not follow through. My repeated requests for updates were only occasionally acted on Then, a set of handmade solid wood kitchen cabinets, despite having registered as low moisture on the project manager's detector, were ripped out and disposed. (this, despite a neighbor/contractor who was on hand and confirmed the low moisture/mold reading.) Next, the project manager contacted me to apologize that, in moving a handmade bluestone countertops, they were cracked and were set aside. It was in the process of trying to resolve these mishaps that I encountered the worst customer service in my life and the situation got far, far worse. The Servpero owner in all of my phone interactions was dismissive, curt, insulting and condescending continually interrupting me. Next, not only did he deny the condition of the kitchen cabinets, he lied by saying I approved their removal (the form which is supposed to list all the thrown out house contents was blank.) Further, when I told him about the countertops he made the astounding lie that I had authorized the removal of the stone countertops but refusing to produce proof or payment All attempts to resolve this situation amicably were met with an insulting and disrespectful tone, an astounding anti-social tact for someone dealing with people in the midst of catastrophic loss. Note, that if there was a way to give less than *, I would quickly do it and still fell I had given them too much credit. Please, please please, don't do as I did. Avoid these awful people and find someone --- anyone - else to do the job and avoid a far worse catastrophe.

I have never experienced such an unprofessional owner of a company. I had a flood in my upstairs…read morebathroom that ran into my sons bedroom downstairs. I called them right away because I was told that they were a very reputable company. The owner of the company wanted my landlords information immediately before even coming out for an estimate. Due to personal reasons I have been handling any and all maintenance on his home. They ended up sending out an amazing estimator who was very kind and understanding that my son had been displaced due to this flooding. When I called to get a copy of the estimate for my landlord, the owner was extremely rude and condescending and told me she would not speak to me because I was not the homeowner. I explained that I was handling things and why and she still refused. I then contacted my landlord and explained to him that he would need to call to get a copy of the estimate. He told me that they would fax it to him. It's been two weeks today since the estimate, and still nothing. So I called the owner once again to inquire about the estimate, again she was extremely rude and condescending. She told me that she spoke to the landlord and he would get the estimate when it was completed with the same nasty tone as she had prior. I told her to forget it. Hopefully other people will have better luck and she will work on her customer service skills.

If I could give this business 100 stars, I would. This is a locally owned, water restoration…read morebusiness that deals with flood and fire damage. This is one of the most honest, genuine, hard-working, and best priced businesses you'll ever find. The morning after being flooded by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, I looked online for water mitigation companies. The first few companies I called were all booked up due to the widespread damage. I called Utopia and was greeted by a friendly, professional owner. He initially thought he might be too booked to take the job. He recommended me to one of his competitors because he did not want to leave me stranded. This was when I first knew I was dealing with a good person. We further discussed the details of the job. He told me he'd try to juggle a few jobs around and call me back later that day. Just as promised, he called back and came over with one of his employees. He photographed the damage (so I can later use it for FEMA assistance) and gave me an estimate. Considering this was an emergency job, after hours, and the work involved, the price he quoted was outstanding. We discussed his attack plan to mitigate the damage. He was knowledgeable and took his time to carefully explain everything about mold, water odors, etc. After that, they immediately went to work. Using heavy equipment, they extracted all of the standing water from my crawlspace. With confidence, he told me he could save the carpeting in my family room. They extracted the water from the carpeting, pulled it up, discarded the ruined padding, discarded ruined molding, dried the walls, applied disinfectant to all wet areas, and strategically set up commercial blowers and dehumidifiers (which he left running for several days). His quick response and quick attack plan saved my carpeting, saved my walls, and prevented me from getting future mold. If he didn't come, I most likely wouldn't have found anybody and would've ended up replacing my carpeting, portions of my walls, and I probably would've ended up with a musty smell and mold. He saved me a lot of time, damage and costs. Most of all, his knowledge and confidence in his work reduced my stress of enduring flood damage. I would do business with any company this gentleman runs. I don't wish any future flooding on myself, but if it happens, I look forward to doing business with Utopia in the future.
