Wow! I've driven by this place a hundred times and was always curious. After reading the positive yelp reviews I decided to give it a try. First off, it's not a fancy place. Very simple little restaurant on state. The 3 dishes I've tried have all been excellent. First time I went I split the Jalea with my wife which is a giant seafood platter for 2 people. After that I tried the jumping chicken and then the green rice and chicken which were both amazing. read more

We come here on all the occasions we want to celebrate! My husband is from Peru, and this is the only restaurant that he will eat at. That's all the "street cred" you need! Huge portions that are affordable considering the size. On some menus items, especially the Jalea (or what we like to call it, a seafood mountain), two people can eat, fill up, and take leftovers home for another meal! If we go on the weekend, my husband usually pulls me onto the dance floor. This is the definition of a great "hole-in-the-wall" find. I wish more people knew about it. I recommend the tacu tacu, the causa rellena de pollo, jalea, or arroz con pollo for a main dish. For dessert, alfajores (amazing!), and to drink is definitely the Peruvian soda Inca Kola. For Utah Peruvian cuisine, this takes the cake! read more

Children running around screaming carelessly. Could not even enjoy the meal. Left with a headache due to the daycare going on here. read more

My husband and I went to Peru on our honeymoon and attended several culinary tours. This Peruvian restaurant is delicious and authentic. The people are great there and it made me feel like I was back in Peru. Make sure to get the chicha morada to drink (or for an alcoholic option try the Cusquena). For food, the ceviche is a must, and try the lomo saltado too. I'll definitely be back to try other menu options. read more

I got the Mixto #21 which was steak and chicken and fries. It was a delight. I had to break out my spanish to order a beer but that was fun too. Nice place, nice people, delicious food. read more

This is the best peruvian restaurant in Utah! The food is delicious, one of my favorites are ceviche de pescado, lomo saltado, anticuchos, papa a la huancaina, everything is so good!! They are always consistent and have everything they offer on the menu. Really good service as well. I highly recommend it. read more

I love the seco de carne, and the lomo, it is a nice place to eat if you are looking for peruvian food, staff is very friendly I have come probably 4 to 5 times and I always like what I order. One of the best options for food around the area. Serving portions are big, so I usually have left overs that I take home. read more

Best Peruvian place around. Love their Lomo Saltado and the Ceviche is great. Service is always good and they typically have music over the weekends! read more

I loved this food! I took my husband here and it was his first time eating peruvian food and he loved it almost as much as me. We both ordered the same thing because I love Lomo Saltado so much, i almost can't make myself order anything else. I have had home cooked peruvian lomo saltado and this was just as good. We had the fried Yucca appetizer and that was pretty wonderful too, although of the yucca, I have had better. On friday nights they play live music. We missed it, but I would love to come back and experience it. I hope you like it as much as I did. read more

Great, authentic Peruvian restaurant. Lots of food, and very flavorful.

I came here because I heard that they served one of my favorite Peruvian dishes. Which they did, but I ordered it with beef and they served me lamb. I thought it was no big deal because I like lamb. But the lamb was really gamey and almost tasted like turkey. Then they charged me $10 more for the lamb that I didn't ask for. I wasn't happy. They wouldn't do anything but say sorry. Terrible customer service. read more

Finally got a chance to try this place after driving by it over and over. It's very nondescript as you're driving by on State. You're more likely to notice the 7-11 next-door. This is great food. Very meat and potatoes (or rice) kind of food. Waiter is real helpful at suggesting dishes. I tried the beef with pasta and pesto, though I believe it's just called green sauce. Very delicious and filling. read more

Took my family there last for dinner all 10 adults and 5 kids of us ... all the food was amazing and super flavorful, great service even with our large family , kids had a great time on the dance floor , dancing to the singer . read more

I cannot even give 1 single star to this but because the food was tasty and fresh. Customer services worst thing ever They need to hire better server , I was expecting services at my table , never returning unless is to pick up But because of your services even on the phone I'm not coming back read more

This place is LEGIT! The food is so good. The service is wonderful. If you like a little spice in your life, order the green sauce. It's life changing. Don't be fooled by the sketchy outside. It's an amazing hole in the wall that will not disappoint. I get the steak and veggies on a bed of fries with a delicious sauce. Wash it down with some guava or passion fruit juice. AWESOME!! read more

This place was such a disappointment , I truly wanted to like it , I ordered lomo saltado , my plate was a total disappointment my steak was super dry and tuff the fries were regular frozen French fries ( what's so hard about cutting up a potato and making homemade French fries ) it would prob make the plate a little better fresh is always best , and the lomo saltado is drenched in tomato sauce ..... Save your money ..... Go elsewhere ! read more

1.7 Peruvian food good Sometimes they don't have stuff on their menu & the lady usually is not so nice. read more

This place is overpriced for lunch. Had a grilled chicken. Flavor was ok nothing really special. Service weak. Would not go back. read more

Not worth it. Expensive. Dry rice. Bad service. So loud! And the French fries are like out of a frozen bag. Not coming back, ever!

Service was great! I walked in and fell in love with the place. The service was nice and the music in the background really set the mood. The food was excellent and good portion size. I will go here again. read more

Tooo price and the food is ok :/ Dont order duck or fish , be safe and order steak. The music was too loud and they were very slow, we came here at 7 and got our feed at 8:40 ish read more

Loved it! Portions are absolutely massive, so be aware of that when ordering. We went as a group of four and ordered four plates to share. However, even with four people, we ate only a third of each plate because the dishes are so rich and large! Excellent food though. The fish ceviche was delicious, service was quick, and the atmosphere was fun. Really enjoyable place to eat authentic Peruvian food. Highly recommend! read more

OMG! authentic food, great atmosphere, and quality unmatched in Utah. I'm a fan totally of Puro Peru.

I tried the Aji de gallina, which is one of my favorite dishes and wasn't impressed, not the flavor you normally expect and I tried my friend lomo saltado and was ok, but I've tried better. read more

I was a little worried when we first walked in as it appeared we were the only ones there. Turns out we were. My wife ordered the bistek a Lo pobre, I ordered the pescado Frito both were good and the portions were ample. The waiter Ivan was friendly and attentive and always made sure our glasses were full. This restaurant has a nice feel, more like eating at a friends than a restaurant. The atmosphere is nice. Not over the top, but tasteful. My wife gave it her stamp of approval which means we'll likely be back soon. read more

I've ate at Puro Peru several times and each time the prices keep going up and up. The food is fantastic don't get me wrong. But the prices compared to portion is getting pretty ridiculous. I would eat there more often if not for the prices. They have a great expanded menu that offers great Peruvian dishes. The atmosphere is good, I would complain that the karaoke singers on the weekend is a little annoying because the music is so freaking loud. read more

This was my first experience with Peruvian food and after trying it I realized I've been missing out on something awesome all my life. I ordered the lomo saltado which I understand is a very popular dish in Peru. I loved it! I ate every bite slowly to make it last longer. The meat has so much flavor---my mouth is watering just thinking about it. My husband ordered tallarines verdes con milanese de pollo. That was really really yummy too. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and kept our drinks full. The restaurant was clean which just made everything even better. You should come try this place out. I'm coming back with my family and friends. read more

This place was great. I really enjoyed the food, especially the ceviche. I've been to a few other Peruvian restaurants in the valley, but this one takes the cake. read more

I was born and raised in Peru and grew up eating Peruvian food. I can tell whether a restaurant is authentic or not by trying the Huancaína sauce. The sauce tasted okay but it was watery and the right consistency. I tried the pollo saltado and I was disappointed. It was super greasy, the chicken was drenched in oil and the sauce was not right either. read more

Looks like a hole in the wall but the food is excellent. Highly recommend the Richi, beef belly (tripe) and really like that purple drink. The ceviche mixti was pretty good too. Looking forward to returning. read more

Ate here for our anniversary on a recommendation from a friend. Loved it! Super flavorful. Attentive service. We'll be back!

It was gross I felt like throwing up after. Me and my date will be scarred for life! It could have been the food dish we chose. I would never get there sea food. All the food we had was chewy or slimy. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worse enemy. read more

We were looking for something new and different and we were very pleased with our first experience at Puro Peru. Everyone was very friendly and the mood was very upbeat. The portions were large, great for sharing. The bill for 4 meals, 2 desserts, and 5 adult beverages came to $90. We will be going back in the future! read more

Not bad Peruvian food. The huacaina seemed like it was made from powder, but the lomo saltado was great. Authentic!

Wonderful food, try the ceviche and anticucho. It is a bit pricey for the atmosphere and location, but worth it.

I developed an appreciation for peruvian food during a couple of trips to Santiago, Chile, so am always on the lookout for new, authentic south american eats. My stop at Puro Peru took place while on a CO to CA read trip. On my arrival, I was the sole "gringo" in the restuarant, and true to latin sensibilities, it got more crowded as it got later in the evening. My experience was the place deserves a solid 4 stars with the food flavorful, portions generous, and service attentive. Worth a stop when craving something different and I'll seek it out next time I'm in SLC! read more

I've never had Peruvian food, saw it while driving and decided to check it out. It was very good and I'll be back for sure. I had the cilantro rice and chicken. plus they give you some really big corn nuts to chomp on. Never had that before. The staff was friendly and my waitress was pretty fine (rarrr). I would recommend this to anyone interested in checking it out. I'll go again on a weekend night and see if their music is as good as their food. (I highly doubt it). read more

Delicious! We got the jumping beef, ceviche fish and a chicken and rice dish.. Very authentic, and very good!

Great peruvian food but lately the service has gone downhill and the prices have gone up way to much for what you get. $18 for Lomo Saltado is a bit outrageous. The food is good, service not so much and prices are way to high. read more

Loooong wait food and service, food doesn't look like the menu picture. Rice very dryy
