Jenn is a great hairstylist. This place is reasonably priced, uses non-toxic products that did not affect my very sensitive nervous system, my hair always looked great, and Jenn was fun to talk to. Unfortunately I will no longer be using their services. I have cognitive and dysfunction due to chronic illness, which is why I come to Scottsdale in the first place (for a medical center) and why I came to Pure Salon. My health issues cause a lot of brain fog, memory issues, inability to deal with noise etc. Due to severe cognitive issues that spanned a few days, I thought my appointment was on a different day than it was and I missed it. When I called to see if there was any chance I could still get in and to learn what the no-show policy was I was informed that they did not have any appointments open and the no-show policy is no refund. You pay upfront when you book. I can understand this and, although disappointed, was ok with this as it is their stated policy. They said they had had problems with no-shows in the past and that was why they had enacted this policy. Ok, that is fine. However, I got to thinking about it, and wondered why, as they were sitting around waiting for me to show up, knowing that they would keep my full payment, they did not kindly call me to see why I was not at my appointment. I would have come and kept whatever part of it I could - just the cut, just partial instead of full highlights, whatever I could have still done. My appointment was scheduled for two hours. I was a regular client who always tipped generously.
I called back to say that I would have appreciated a courtesy call. Deborah answered the phone. She was rude, insisted that I speak to her not Jenn, talked over me and would not let me speak. This was very hard for me as I have problems with noise and struggle to speak when interrupted. She insisted that it is not their responsibility to remind me of my appointment. I understand and I agree with this. But I brought up the point that it still seems like the decent thing to do do call me sometime during my two hour appointment. No matter what I said she kept insisting, very defensively, that they had done their part. She kept insisting that I look in my phone to see the reminder text they had sent me and my email for an email reminder. Funny enough, I did not receive either of those. She insisted that a call did not need to be made and would not be made in this case in the future. I know it doesn't NEED to be made. . . but c'mon . . . where was basic courtesy? It was clear they did not care if I missed my appointment - they still get paid - so no need to pick up the phone and give me a call . . . just take a break on my dime and feel good about it I guess. . . . this was the attitude I felt on the phone from Deborah. It was all about protecting themselves and no consideration for me was made. I think a phone call would have been a reasonable consideration. Because of this general attitude I decided it best we part ways permanently. read more
