Shannon did a great job on my highlights/lowlights. She is the only person I have had get the color of blond that I want correct. She made me feel as if I was her only client for the day, not rushed. DO U LOVE BLONDE BALAYAGE HAIR /HIGHLIGHTS/LONG HAIR/YOUTHFUL STYLE/ CURRENT FASHIONABLE HAIR?? If so THIS IS NOT THE SALON FOR YOU. I have a lot of family members that live in cave creek full time & visit this salon for simple cuts,mani,pedis,etc. After my experience every single one is SHOCKED at how incompetent a high end balayage is for these people. I used to get balayage&highlights for over 8 years. The last 3 years I grew out my natural color, I've consulted in people that have worked on my hair before and they were shocked that after over 400 dollars I only looked a few shades lighter. The initial plan was made with Ty who said we could a balayage & highlight time ACHIEVE a look SIMILAR to the picture. Coming back for "fix" the second time I have lost all hope and wish I had left it alone after the first FAIL. I was argued with told I wanted faceframing Highlights and a partial highlight which yes is what I wanted but asked for any technique possible to achieve more of the look I was looking for especially with the new 2020 bright bangs. (Which came out so chuckled and unmixed into more skinny highlights throughout my head. My second stylist Ella really tried to pull out those previously dyed pieces to not damage the hair but really missed the mark in the blend and face framing. I was argued with saying that I wanted the bangs that thick. I did not want this, when I was watching her I thought she was weaving natural browns into the area that's too far back. I look like a skunk. My family and friends are in SHOCK because my natural brown level 6-7 typically takes color VERY well. The mark could not be hit at this salon. I should have just left it alone the first time and gone somewhere else. The amount of arguing between balayage and back to highlights and back and forth like Jesus Christ can we just achieve the picture and normal ROOOTY BALAYAGE. The owner also argued with me in between sessions that balayage isn't meant to come up so high. Lol ok. The Instagram has no pictures of blondes or cuts demonstrating what their girls can do with names under. Nothing. No portfolio. Nothing. Most high end salons have a specific girl that is a BALAYAGE specialist in BLONDES. Yes Aveda is an amazing brand but the management and level of expertise actually comes down to their simple cuts and manicures and keeping up with the older clientele short haired, grey touch ups. Very sad I came in with natural hair no color had ever touched completely grown out beautiful slate to work with. Ty didn't even take a before picture of the brown and after of her balayage... I thought that was insane people online CREDIT themselves on the before and after photos of balayage that's how you grow. I've had blonde balayage done in the damn hood better than this so that says a lot. Lots of older people going to this salon. I was wondering why I didn't see a lot of high end balayage pictures with current styles on the website or reviews and this must be why. I'm 23 years old and do not recommend this place for girls my age. I was argued with multiple times that my hair was beautiful and this and that instead of acknowledging the PROBLEM. I currently have huge color blocks on something that I thought was beautifully blending into other highlights and into the natural colors around the face. Malana has been cutting my hair for over a year, and I have to say she does by far the best job that anyone has ever done. Oh my gosh!!!! I have never found a Salon where I have been so taken care of. I had driven for 18 hrs. from Montana to AZ and had my appointment with Mila, whom I had yet to meet, so I was very excited to have my color and a new doo! What happened next was a beyond my craziest dreams! My appointment was at 1:00 PM but because I was so exhausted from our trip and hauling horses I decided I would rest before going to Salon Mila. I fell sound asleep! I woke up at the time of my appointment and called practically in tears saying "I'M ON MY WAY!!" I was 15 minutes late and was a wreck. Mila took me by the hand, seeing that I was needing some TLC and definitely some hair RESCUES, and spent the next three hours taking my hair from a brassy blond to a richer blonde with depth (I wish more stylists would take into account the age of their clients and what they really need to look like after 65 and Medicare!!!) she put oil on my hands and conditioned my dry tired hair. This was my first visit to the salon. I checked in and then just looked around the boutique. I was offered water but I didn't see a place to sit and wait for my tech so I wondered around some more. Finally someone came up to me and asked if I was here for a manicure and then showed my upstairs where my tech had been waiting for me. Seemed odd no one told me to go on upstairs she was ready to see me when I checked in. Manicure went fine, I paid and left. Then thinking as I left, that I was not asked to rebook, given a card or anything telling me my techs name or phone # so that I could call when I wanted and rebook with the same nail tech. Last weekend my daughters and I went for an early Mother's day mani-pedi. We had done this last year, same time, and were pleasantly surprised. Both of my daughters (adult) wanted gel nails. One was able to get them no issue but the other's nail tech said I don't have time and refused to do them. The tech who had just finished my nails did not have anyone right after so there is no reason my daughter's tech could not have handed her off to the free tech. Nataliya did an amazing job with my nails, even though I came back all most 4 weeks later for a backfill, not one nail had chipped. My pedicure still looks almost new after 5 weeks. Let me say upfront that I've never had a service at Salon Mila. I know them from El Pedegral (where they used to be) and had a fond memory of purchasing, for my Mom, a pair of (rather expensive) crystal embellished flip flops she'd fallen in love with in their Boutique. Mom passed away last year and I thought, as a testament to her flair and commitment to good grooming (and beauty!), I'd try Mila as my new go-to salon for cuts, color, nails, etc. I also am a big fan of Aveda and Salon Mila is in the neighborhood I've just moved to. Stopped in today and was impressed by the dazzling salon. No customers visible but 2 young and 1 middle-aged woman at the desk. When I said I was looking for a new salon and asked if they have a price list, one of the 20-something receptionists seemed confused and fumbled around, searching for a brochure. The older woman was clearly annoyed with me interrupting whatever paperwork she was sifting through and literally tossed a business card on the desk, saying..."we don't have a price list...HERE, YOU can look it up online". Really??? Honestly, the 2 younger employees looked embarrassed by her behavior and tried to save the day by rattling off some vague pricing. But, the "moment" had passed and I couldn't leave fast enough! There is no excuse for treating a potential customer like dirt! What an unnecessarily awkward and thoroughly unpleasant encounter. BTW, I did get the nasty woman's name but I won't publish it here.... Owner of Salon Mila.....please take note. Your (clearly) unhappy employee gives a very bad first impression of your salon. Oh. My. Gawd. I have never left a salon more perplexed or pissed off. I had a partial high light done a week ago but returned today to have a few more foils put down the back. I am very blond on top and darker on the underneath. My stylist did a great job on the tone of my blond but I basically had a black hole on the back of my head that needed fixed. I definitely did not expect to have to pay for this fix so I added a couple products to my visit and planned on tipping my stylist as a thank you. At check out I was billed $157!! Uhhh seriously? There must be a mistake. Ms. receptionist goes to ask my stylist. He comes down and in front of me they whisper about the situation. Can you say awkward? I am told that with the added foils I now have a FULL HIGH LIGHT and yes I owe this money. Haha! I literally had 8 to 10 more foils added making it now a real partial with the underneath untouched. Not a top of the head and sides. Hmmmm... I was a salon owner and stylist for 15 years so I'm no dummy when it comes to what service is being done and how to do it properly. Not to mention making sure clients are happy so they return. Duh. I end up paying $38, gave the products back to the receptionist, left no tip, got in my car with a wet head (a blow dry costs extra) and wondered how in the world people run a business with such awful customer service. Since moving to the area, this is my second salon visit. The first was to a well-reviewed place down Scottsdale Road, but though I was not unhappy with my hair, I felt like the stylist was just writing it in---when someone is working on something as intimate and important as your hair, you want to think they CARE! This girl was young and silent and brooding and showed very little interest in making sure I was happy with my cut, style and color. So my next appointment, I made with Salon Mila at Stagecoach Village. They told me my stylist would be Stella. Stella is super! Wonderful! Caring! Talented! She is also a recent transplant from the East, so it was fun to compare experiences---she actually chatted lightly as she worked. The salon itself is a bit consciously trendy, but it had a cute little boutique and comfy chairs. After she introduced herself and got me seated at her station, Stella spent time learning about what I like and don't like about my hair texture, it's style (or lack of!), and the color. As she spoke to me, she also touched my hair, assessing it's condition. Then we discussed what I was hoping for and what she could do. When I voiced some trepidation, she assured me: "Don't worry, you are in good hands!" And when I sniffled at having to lose several inches of hair because of it's dry, ratty, frizzy condition, she told me: "You'll be glad and it will grow back much better." (I am glad---the ends look super now! And I assume it will also grow back just like Stella promised!) While she had the color on my hair, Stella also ended up giving me a manicure. (She's well-rounded!) She did a super job and I felt all girl-y and pretty---it had been *forever* since I'd had a manicure---why? My nails look fab! Long story short---and long hair slightly shorter----love my hair! Stella put in some long layers so I have some bounce and body and the length isn't pulling my face down, and as I said earlier, though I was sad to lose a couple of inches, it looks so much more healthy now. The color is perfect, the rich caramel blonde I wanted. I am from a small (about the size of Cave Creek) town in the Midwest, but close to two large cities and the conveniences available there, and I thought Salon Mila's prices were totally acceptable---about what I paid at home for that kind of quality cut and color with the deliciously scented Aveda products. I liked that Stella really seemed to pay attention to the condition of my hair and what would flatter my face shape and age and lifestyle and do what was best for me without going out of my comfort zone (no pixie cuts!!!). She was very confident and competent without being arrogant. She chatted, but not excessively and when we were silent, it was a comfortable quiet. I miss my stylist from back East, but I think I have found my new stylist in the Southwest. I'll definitely be rescheduling with Stella. read more

We were visiting Scottsdale over the Christmas holiday and we stopped at Salon Mila for a facial after the hectic Christmas festivities. I went with my daughter and my sister and we all had a great facial and a mini massage. They carry all Aveda products and have a cute little boutique for shopping. I was staying at The Boulders Resort but I didn't want to pay $89. So, I called around town and the only place I could get in on a Saturday was Salon Mila. The pedicure station faced a beautiful wall fountain, had very comfortable recliner chairs and they use the most wonderful Aveda products and an environmentally/people friendly, quick drying, super durable nail polish. My nail technician Natalia was amazing! It included the usual pedicure treatment, a salt scrub, foot and leg massage, a heated neck wrap, scented eye pillow, head massage and ear phones with soothing music. Loved it! But when I called about how much it was they told me $150, I got there and then they said it would be $190, by the end they ended up charging me $230 because they put a treatment in my hair that I had no knowledge of. My hair is short by the way, so I don't understand why it was so much. It was my first time experience there. I feel used....I made a first time appointment for a partial highlight and a trim (my standard that I get back home). Overall my appointment went great, but I found out afterwards that my stylist had gotten me to do a lot of services that were essentially double the cost of what I had asked for. $250 later my hair looks good, but nothing outstanding. To make matters worse, when I went to pay, they told me it was $120 (which is what I was expecting), I paid and Even bought a $120 gift card for my mom to go there. 30 minutes later I got a call that said they under charged me and I owed $126 more for the full color and cut that I got. I didn't ask for either of these things. I actually specifically asked her to trim as little off as possible and she asked if she could put a couple layers in it so I said "sure". I feel used and disappointed that this salon would take advantage of customers like this. I have asked the salon for a reimbursement of the gift card that I bought my mom as it will go unused...I have already cut it up. I will never return and I absolutely do not recommend it to anyone. read more
