So much has changed since I first started working out at the IMA, but to name a few:…read more - Expansion of the downstairs weight room Over the years, the IMA expanded the weight room and added more squat racks and other weight equipment. However, this area is super popular especially during peak hours - Universal locker rooms The locker rooms now have designated cabanas for changing and showering. I appreciate having the privacy to shower and change in a cabana versus when there were gender-assigned locker rooms - Locker rental You can rent a lock by stopping by the equipment desk on the lower level and use the lockers in the hallway at no extra cost. There are lockers inside the locker rooms but I don't have information if those are at an extra cost - Massage and acupuncture services For an extra cost, you can book massage and acupuncture appointments on the IMA website I still book personal training sessions, and I love having access to their training rooms. Especially having space to do barbell work instead of waiting for a weight rack to free up downstairs. While I still think the IMA is still one of the best gyms to work out, one thing I miss are the steam rooms (unless if I have yet to spot it). I also wish people rack up weights and equipment afterwards as it can be a pain to find stuff at times.

I adored the indoor track on the top level with window paneling that allowed me to look out as I ran. The track encircled cardio workout equipment. For intercollegiate club rugby (women's), we used the track and space in the corners between the track and the windows for combined sprints and conditioning sets. The main level had restrooms, weights, and cardio equipment as well. I used this section primarily for elliptical, rowing machine, and stationary bicycle sessions. I found this section was typically calmer on Saturday evenings, though could get a bit crowded Sunday afternoons. In the morning, before about 6:30 a.m., I enjoyed the relative calm as well. The lower level weight room I only used for rugby practice if I am recalling correctly. I signed up for an instructed spin (stationary bicycle) class a few terms and had a great instructor, named Kyle. He had excellent workouts and was a good DJ as well. The locker room provided access to a pool. I enjoyed swimming laps here and the analog clocks were perfect for timekeeping as I swam the sets I designed/wrote for myself. To the side of the entrance was a cafe of sorts where I could use my meal plan. Tables were available to sit and eat. In the mornings, I had a combination of a energy bar(s), hard-boiled eggs, Muscle Milk, and/or fruit. They also made smoothies to the order.

It's not cheap, but it's life-changing…read more I'll be honest, Pilates lessons are my biggest expense after rent and my student loans. But the amount my body has changed since I began lessons here a year and a half ago has convinced me that classical Pilates is entirely worthwhile. My athletic background is mostly running and gym workouts, but I'm on my feet all day, and so I was interested in improving my posture to avoid back problems down the road. My back was extremely arched, and I was starting to have problems after I walked for long distances. I work mostly with Adrianna, but I've worked with pretty much everyone in the studio. The newer instructors are sometimes a gamble, but it really depends on what you're looking for in a workout. Don't write the studio off just because you don't get good vibes from your first instructor. I prefer Adrianna because she's committed to Joseph Pilates' vision in its purest form, without all the frills and fancy stuff. I also enjoy working with Regina, Clare, Sara(h?), and Chris. I need to point out that I was anxious to start Pilates because I was worried the studio would be populated with stick-thin, beautiful, pretentious, rich former dancers and trophy wives. There are a few, but most people are down-to-earth and average. Because you work with mostly the same people each week, getting to know the folks I work out with has been one of my favorite parts of Pilates. After you start with a few private sessions, you can move on to semi-privates and mat classes. I stayed with privates for quite a while, and I'm glad I did because I feel like I have a much better grasp on the reasons behind why the exercises are performed the way they are. I also feel much more independent in my semi-privates and mat classes, which gives me more bang for my buck and makes up for the initial money-sink. The front desk staff is generally friendly, and their bookkeeping/scheduling is always spot on. On a practical note, their facilities are clean and the showers are helpful for when I'm done with my morning or pre-dinner classes! I've also done Pilates at various studios in Michigan and Hawaii, and I would strongly recommend that even if you don't come to Metropolitan Pilates, you look into a classical Pilates studio. Enjoy, and don't be afraid to get started!

I know Pilates is popular but I was never one that wanted to do DVDs. If I was going to try this I want to use those reformer machines that sort of look like torture devices. My chance came when my mom and I were at a silent auction. Nothing offered sparked either of our interest then I saw a three private lessons package and begged my mom to bid on it. To my delight she won. Soon I was on my way to strengthening and lengthening my body. I had to leave a message to make an appointment but was immediately called back. I didn't have an instructor preference since I had never been there before and with the time and date that worked for me Kelsi ended up being the instructor I was paired with. Metropolitan Pilates is located in University Village next to the Gene Juarez salon. It is open and airy, clean, and bright. The front desk woman was very nice and pointed me in the direction of the locker room. Towels and a hair dryer are provided in the locker room and locks are there for your convenience. After I dropped off my things I made my way to the waiting area. Kelsi, with a genuine smile and a hand extended, met me. We immediately got on the machines. Kelsi was patient with me as I typically run, lift weights, and do boot camp classes which is the complete opposite of this regime and I found it hard, at first, to utilize different parts of my body to do moves I had one before. Lots of extensions and leg lifts and bending and rolling and slowly engaging muscles. All fun and harder than they looked but the challenge was worth it. Every time I left my session with Kelsi I stood a little taller and my muscles were stretched and longer. Although I wasn't sweating buckets or panting uncontrollably I felt that I got a great work out just a different type which I later realized, my body desperately needed. I recommend Metropolitan Pilates to anyone. The studio is lovely the staff is friendly, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I had a great experience and I hope to come back soon!

I was up in Seattle for work and came in one evening to climb while in town. I was doing a bunch of other things and didnt get in to climb until about 10 before 9pm. That gave me only 1 hour 10 min to climb. I wish they stayed open to 11pm as there were still a bunch of people here climbing close to the end! One of my gripes with BP is that they make you complete a liability waiver at each BP location you go to so that gets pretty annoying. Ive been to the BP in Brooklyn (not my favorite), Tempe, DC (pretty good), SLC (huge space and great to climb) and now here at this location and each time, had to complete the waiver. This purely bouldering gym is great. I like that the entire gym is for bouldering and no need to share with climbers on rope. Nothing against them, just like a bouldering only gym. So much stuff to climb here as there are two floors for bouldering. The routes are a bit easier than other BPs but still very fun. They also have sauna and cold plunge here but didnt get to try it. I will be back next time to check this out! There is street parking here, so while not the best parking, its not too bad. Day passes are $30 so not cheap but pretty worth it. Next time I plan to stay here for awhile. Great climbing experience here and an hour was not enough, I need like 2 or 3 hours honestly. Ill be back again when Im in town!

The free one-day pass (shoes included) makes it easy to test the waters. You sign waivers and check-in before climbing. The middle floor is the main climbing area with routes that range from beginner to rather difficult pretty quickly. The third floor offers another full course if you want more options and there's even a workout area up front for warm-ups. Free cubbies, complimentary chalk bags, and a solid hangout zone with charging ports and board games round out the amenities here. This place is mobbed however. Wall-to-wall college kids and young adults. Hard to find a safe spot to rest in between climbs. You have to give climbers space to fall, which can feel chaotic. Staff are mostly high schoolers. This place is best for first-timers wanting a free trial, groups looking for a high-energy scene, or anyone that seeks a social gym.

Also, something particularly egregious is that this place often has young , solo staffed females close at 11pm part of which involves them physically entering the male locker room which is inherently unsafe not to mention awkward for any men with the audacity to be changing a few minutes before closing time which given the limited workout space/membership ratio is often a necessary evil. Also, there is a particularly unlikeable, spiteful little salamander of young man who shares the first name, not to mention despised nature of the British Prince who lost his title because of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, both should be avoided at all costs and rejected by polite society.

It started with a very knowledgeable Trainer who signed me up and gave me all info I needed. When I arrived people were friendly. The workouts are fun and hard as I remember. I was approached by 2 of the trainers to check on me and also to give me info re changing my movements to maximize my ability to gain strength. The trainers are highly experienced and educated in strength training and physical movement. The managers and trainers are very friendly and approachable. F45 workouts are the most fun in the world just my opinion)- and this is a wonderful place to maintain and increase your fitness with expert trainers. I will be there- you?

LOCATION is great! Open windows allow lots of light, making for a pleasant space to work out. 2. RESPONSIVE staff. Immediately replied to texts. Katie, a temp manager (maternity leave), was superb! 3. STELLAR coaching - this from a highly technical coach. We all need coaching and I got some, especially from Coach Juan who is not only good at coaching but is also super nice! Tonya is a beast with clear and amazing cues for coaching. 4. CLEAN studio with good equipment. Other studios that I've been to have damaged equipment on the floor. Didn't see any at Eastlake. Equipment was well maintained. In addition, they have Olympic bars! Also, bathrooms are super clean and always stocked. 5. FRIENDLY community. This was a bonus. I don't care much for community but they built a solid one here. SIGNED UP for unlimited membership.
