I had called pure and simple at Eglinton after reading many of the wonderful reviews. I tried to ask for one of the estheticians that were mentioned in the reviews. Tough luck, they are all booked weeks in advance. Despite my impulsive nature I decided to book the facial for some 3 weeks in advance, with Mila. I chose the Clear Complexion Facial, which has a bit of everything, including some LED treatments I was curious to try. I was overall happy with the entire treatment. Mila was thorough it seems, there were several masks, oils (these guys LOVE their oils), steam, some extractions (she steered clear of the of the deep, under the skin pimples I have, which I would have liked her to extract, perhaps with the use of a needle. I mean, this is why I am here, I can take care of the blackheads too) LED treatment, and she finished off with A LOT of oil. Note: If you plan on going somewhere after your facial, think again, You will be dipped in oil, your face and hairline will be oily, oily, oily. But, not red! The place itself is very simple, almost austere looking. Everything seems basic. Very clean too. Definitely not a fancy looking spa, but they do a good job. Why not 5 stars? Because although the treatment itself was good, for the price you pay ($150) you would expect a "treat" - a zen-ish environment, something better looking that a walk-in clinic, which is exactlywhat the place looks like. I will continue going here for my facials, but for the "technical" aspects; this is not the place to go to be pampered or to treat youself to a luxurious spa day. read more

I have very sensitive, rosacea-prone skin. All kinds of everything (soap, makeup, sun, etc.) made me break out and gave me a dark red face (sometimes with blotchy white crusts) that contrasts with the rest of my smooth pale skin. For years, it was ugly as hell. I've since discovered many products and facials to combat my skin's horrors, and the best I've found, by far, is Pure + Simple. I get my facials at the Yorkville clinic, mostly the Hydrating facial, with a cocktail of sensitive-friendly, gorgeous sauces, steams, and gentle/effective extractions, not to mention shoulder massages on the comfiest bed ever. Just blissful! I love getting the oxygen treatment too; my skin looks so young afterwards. I've been going for four years now, getting a facial at least 4 times a year (with the changing of the seasons), and using only their products in my skin care regimen, and my skin looks perfect! Their products are superb; there are many choices for hyper-sensitive skin, and my skin just loves them. I spend quite a bit there, and it is worth every single hard-earned penny. A little of the product goes a long way, and they last a remarkably long time, given the purity of the ingredients. And they smell wonderful. I've used the shea butter line, the rosacea line, the P+S line... they're all fabulous. I use richer formulas in the winter, plus the sensitive skin oil, lactic acid, collagen-elastin, and their sensitive skin sunscreen throughout the year. My skin is so happy now! It is just beautiful, glowing, healthy, dewy, and smooth. :) What a blessing to find such a place, and what a treat getting a facial here! read more

Its almost as if my paychecks should be deposited here. Its the sort of place where I seemingly never feel guilty for spending what would be a crazy amount of money anywhere else. After using a bunch of their products, I decided to go for a facial. Not being a spa sort of person, I was pretty iffy about the idea, but.... you need to get one. I have found that P+S is very hit and miss. It depends on which aesthetician you see. I am a regular at the Yorkville location and see Shari, who is amazing but her schedule gets busy at least a month ahead. I was desperate for a facial and decided to go to the Eglinton location as I was running errands in the area. I saw Georgette during my visit and had two major complaints afterwards 1.) my face is much more irritated than it was previously. She squeezed on pimples which she should not have, and more than a week later, they are angry, red and swollen. I have been taking care of my skin and hydrating ever since the facial and nothing wants to surface. Also, she talks way too much during the facial (like, c'mon, I wanna relax) and she tried to push products on me even though I told her I am a student on a tight budget. She was like "I know you're a student BUT I still highly recommend the most expensive hydrating serum we have available". Aggressive salesperson and pimple extractor at best, if I say so myself. I feel so embarrassed to walk outside with my face in this state. When I see Shari on the other hand, my skin feels super clean and not irritated after a facial. She is very gentle with extractions, knows which buttons to press and which ones to leave alone. Things which are hard to extract usually surface within a week of my facial with her and I feel happy about my facial. Once you find a good aesthetician at P+S, then it's a good place. But my experience at this location with Georgette was simply a disaster because my face now looks as such. I do not recommend her. read more

Would give lower if I could. I went in for a facial and told them I have very sensitive, oily, acne prone skin. They recommended me the "hydration facial" and said it would be best for my skin. I had a terrible breakout after and they suggested I try their product to calm my skin down. The product made it worse. I saw another specialist who said the product they gave me should not be used on my skin type. They clearly have people working there who don't know what they're doing. I spent over $200 for my skin to get worse and they were unable to offer me a refund on the product. Very disappointing. read more

I have never gotten a facial before going to Pure + Simple so I don't know enough to say this is the best place ever - don't bother going anywhere else. The staff there is beyond friendly and so was the girl I saw for my appointment. I was really happy when she she explained to me what the little white things were on my face and told me she could get rid of them. Of course that wasn't included in the facial that I got so I had to pay more but did not care at all because I have had those since I was 12 and they always bothered me! I have been going to Pure + Simple for about 7 years now and everytime I go I would look for Mila. After my 2nd pregnancy my face was so bad that I got a very very horrible acne. I was looking at the light therapy treatment but Mila suggested that I should go with Glycolic Peel and a Facial. I took a package of 4 session for Peel and 4 package of facial, it was a bit pricey but I'm happy with the results. I tried to keep the recommended home facial routine and I don't get as much acne as I used before, my skin is looking way much better than what I had before. I will definitely go back for another few treatments to clear up some of my scar from the acne. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the service I got from my aesthetician Mila and the service the Pure + Simple Yonge and Eglinton Location gives. read more

Gentle and natural is the Pure&Simple approach to facials. I was used to more aggressive/harsh facials, but quickly realized that being kind to the skin yields the best results. the aestheticians are knowledgable and pampering. they have excellent monthly specials, all-natural lines that are reasonably priced, and the aestheticians will actually spend time w/ you afterwards picking out good stuff. I've been passing by Pure+Simple Eglinton-Yonge location for a few months, and finally booked my facial a couple of weeks ago. I am not a spa person, and usually get facials twice a year. I enjoyed my experience there. I got Clear complexion facial, and it was gentle, but effective. I purchased a couple of skin care products. The cucumber mask is excellent, I feel my pores tightening after each use. This spa accepts SpaFinder gift certificates, which makes it a deal every time you get a treatment. read more

Welcome to salon heaven! At this location I had the sun repair facial and was treated to a relaxing and rejuvenating afternoon. The esthetician was knowledgeable and thorough, identifying that I have sensitive skin as opposed to the norm when I have to alert the esthetician... I was impressed. As I have acneic skin, she was sensitive to my skins personal needs and recommended which facial would be more appropriate next time. This facial included a shoulder and décolletage massage, was extremely soothing and exactly what I needed. I will 100% visit again. The esthetician also provided me with samples of a cooling and calming face mask to help my skin recover further. Just lovely! read more

I love Pure and Simple - I've only been to the Yonge/Eg and Yorkville locations. They give really great facial and the aestheticians are always so educated and gentle. The front desk staff have been pretty good, a little less educated about products, but that's to be expected. I go for a facial every few weeks and love it. The only, minor thing is the locations don't feel spa like, which is fine because once you're getting your facial it doesn't matter. The facial rooms are dark and cozy to make you feel more relaxed. I have most of their products as well, which are great because you knew they are better for you than anything full of chemicals or fragrances. read more

This time though, through out my facial, the woman (Georgeta) kept pushing the products of the spa and told me "she couldn't really help me if I wasn't using any of their products and that facials were not good enough alone". I had the salt microdermabrasion facial about a year ago and- let me tell you- Janet knows what she is doing. I've had a lot of facials from a lot of different facialists- this Janet really laid it down. In terms of experience, she was massaging hands and feet while the masks and creams were setting in, which the mark of a good facial. Her technique felt delightful- that's the mark of a great facial. This was my second ever facial, and first ever at Pure and Simple. I was a little nervous because my skin can be very sensitive and finicky. But I was immediately and pleasantly surprised by how well the ladies at the Eglinton location took care of me, and how attentive Shabnam was to my skincare needs. I opted for the Cool As a Cucumber facial, and it was amazing! Shabnam made sure to tell me what she was doing at each step but she also made sure the facial was a very relaxing experience. The massage was wonderful! At the end, Shabnam made some recommendations and gave me some samples but was never pushy. I ended up buying one of their cleansers and it works so great on my sensitive skin. It's been a week since my facial and my skin is still glowing! I thought I should come here a couple of times before I give a full review. Since some of the reviews seemed to be hit or miss, I tried two different facialist to see if I would have different experiences. However, after both visits... I LOVE THIS PLACE. The past two times I got the super hydrating facial and i recently bought the package of 3. Its usually $110 (+tax) but the package was $327(including tax) so i could save a bit of money. This place massages your scalp,shoulders and back while you have your mask on. Not sure if the places i went to before we're sketchy but they usually just left you in the dark to nap or something. Both times I went I had different girls. First time I had Georgetta and she wasn't pushy on products like other people said. In fact she gave me a sample of a cream so i could match its texture when i went shopping. Even when doing the mask/ cleansers she did if on my neck and shoulder area. However the second time I came in, the girl was a little more pushy on products. Also she she didn't put the mask/cleanser on my shoulder area. But she did put a lot of serums and oils on my face before i left. She even moisturized my lips! Its kind of a give/ take but I really enjoyed it both times. I'm not 100% sure if these facials are helping my skin but it has been looking a little clearer. read more

I don't understand the fuzz. Their facials are okay and estheticians are very friendly are knowledgeable but their products always, always break me out. Went back a few times, told them my skin was reacting to their products and the sales person responded that since their products were naturals they can't break me out. Right! I guess the managers should educate their staff about skincare and yes! natural and organic products can definitely break you out. Their moisturizers have a lot of natural oils which makes me break me out. read more

I broke out very badly and decided to go to Pure + Simple to try and clear up my problem area. I was treated by Mila, who was nothing but sweet and kind. She gave me advice on how to keep my skin clear and the facial felt great. However, after coming home, I realized that many of the pimples were not really extracted. The next morning, one pustule came to the surface flaming red, and another red under the skin one appeared right under it. The other pimples that were treated the day before were no different than when I came in. The lady was friendly and welcoming but the bikini wax job itself was very rough. My skin was still red and recovering after 5 days compared to the usual 1 day it takes when I've had bikini waxing done elsewhere and the job wasn't clean. It was very painful and took a long time whereas I've had quick swift wax jobs done in other places. The staff were otherwise friendly. read more

I have been going to Pure + Simple for my facials for over a year now. I originally came in looking to improve my acne. My first appointment was with Caitlin back when she worked at the King street location. My first facial was pretty intense, especially with all the extractions that I required but Caitlin was very professional and empathetic. She helped calm me and she would check in to make sure I was okay. The moral support was much appreciated and I really loved the results! Caitlin is extremely thorough with her treatments. I always feel like i'm getting great value when I come in to see her as the facials are relaxing and you see great results as well! I'm such a fan that I continue to see her at the Eglinton location where she now works. I only purchase products from the store that are recommended specifically for my skin type to treat my skin well. In conjunction with my monthly facials, I started acupuncture to improve my acne. I'd say these two factors played a major part in reducing my acne by at least 80%. The cystic acne has stopped completely. The natural approach does work if you are consistent and I hope you give it a try :-) read more

Overrated. Maybe helps if you have acne but for someone with normal to sensitive skin...its an absolute waste. No improvement after the facial and esthetician tried to get me to opt for a different (more expensive) facial to begin with....then spent 20min trying to sell me products (I didnt even like as they made no difference to my skin) afterwards. I have acne and scars but the day before i came to get facial done my facial looked like clear just scars on. I came one SUNDAY NOV 9 MY APP AT 11:15 and they get me DEEP PORE CLEANSING FACIAL. I dont remember the name of the girl did for me but she is black girl short hair. After getting facial my face still look ok not good not bad but just after a day. When i woke up ny face like shit. I have visited Pure and Simple three times and am not impressed. I really wanted to like this place because of the emphasis on natural, clean products but never had good results. Each time I booked a certain facial they suggested I go for something else and I was never satisfied with the results and saw no improvement. I also agree that they push the products too hard. I was having trouble with breakouts and bought the recommend products and started to break out even more. I called to express my concern and the lady asked what I was using and when I said the rose hip oil, she said that is a known irritant. I was not offered a refund but suggested I pass it on to someone else. Nice when I spent a small fortune on products recommended by the esthetician. read more

I have been going to Pure + Simple for my monthly facials for almost a year and half now, and can honestly say I'm thrilled to have found this spa (and Caitlin!). I originally came in looking to improve my hormonal and cystic acne, and later transitioned to correcting scaring and pigmentation. Ever since my first appointment with Caitlin, she has been the only esthetician I visit; she's very professional, thorough, kind, and knows her stuff! After trying nearly every routine/product/professional in the market for my skin, none are comparable to Caitlin and the Pure + Simple facials; I haven't seen my skin this healthy and clear in years! She massaged my face the whole time and was very thorough with the extractions. She also gave me an arm, décolletage and scalp massage. I highly recommend Caitlin at the Yonge and Eglinton location. I see her every month for the clear complexion facial and the results are fantastic! I have tried several natural facials all over Toronto as well as different estheticians and Caitlin's treatments are by far the best. If I could rate it below zero I would!!! Went to Georgetta for eyebrow shaping and she ignored what I told her I wanted. My eyebrows came out RIDICULOUS!!! They were shaped like the "M" in McDonalds and one was higher than the other. Plus they were EXTREMELY THIN. When I expressed my shock she stormed out angrily. The receptionist is an unfriendly SNOB. The people at the cash did not care at all that I was mortified by what was done to me. In fact, they were more concerned with their esthetician being upset and proceeded to tip-toe around her. Since it is VERY DIFFICULT to find good QUALITY service in Toronto I guess they were afraid of losing her. So basically people who live in Toronto take what they can get and are grateful that it isn't worse. read more

I have had facials and I've had facials, but this?! Now this is a real facial! I have skin that I didn't know that I had the potential to have and its amazing. So much so that I actually don't want to wear makeup, my bare face looks better. And the kicker is others have noticed, and asked what Im doing, if I'm wearing makeup and if so what kind. I had the special urban renewal facial. I was a new customer and the agent on the phone who booked me in and the receptionist were very friendly. The facial and aesthetician were awful. I left with 2 or more different products on me, in my nose, on my eyelids which I only noticed when I went to the bathroom because there is no light, no windows no mirrors nothing! I typically like to see how I look after a facial since I can get red. The aesthetician was negative and short. I volunteered all this information I thought might be useful, she didn't care. Coincidentally I asked how long the facial was and was surprised to hear it was over an hour at 75 minutes, well mine wasn't I checked my phone and noticed it was only an hour and there was a digital clock in the room. Her pressure was so firm during the leg, foot and shoulder massage I had to ask her to cool it. I came in for a facial not a deep tissue. She extracted for the majority and was brutally rough I don't have any white heads or breakouts and have had a dozen or so facials and have never had someone pop 20-30 blackheads. She kept saying my skin is so dry so dehydrated, well it's after the winter, that's why I'm in for a facial and offered no suggestions just ridicule is what it felt like. I planned to go back 2-3 times before my wedding this summer and will not go there. read more

I came across these glowing reviews and thought I would share my experience from last October. After reading Kristen Ma's book, I became convinced that Pure and Simple was the place to go for my facials, since she stresses gentle, natural and holistic skin care. I have really good relationships with my hairdresser, chiropractor and massage therapist and was looking for an esthetician who would take care of my skin too. Well, although P and S have really good branding, some of their staff are obviously not on the same page, cos the esthetician I was assigned went berserk over the extractions and left multiple red, bleeding wounds on my cheeks. I have had facials before but this had never happened to me. I almost cried when I got home and looked in the mirror. Not only that--despite all the hype about "knowledge over selling products", she was very aggressive about wanting to sell me the most expensive products--one moisturizer she pushed was about $94 for a small tube. I complained to the spa owner (with a photo of my ravaged face) and got a free facial with a different esthetician. The spa manager was very nice to me when I went in for that, but there was something offhand and cold about the second esthetician I got (even though she did not scar me like the first one did), and I've never felt tempted to go back there again, even though I continue to use their products and think they are of high quality. I still think Pure and Simple have got their philosophy right--they just need to practice it as well. I felt very disappointed--betrayed even. read more

This is hands down the best spa for facials I have ever been to. I have tried countless spas over the years, but once I discovered Pure and Simple a few years ago, I haven't strayed. Every aesthetician is extremely experienced and my face always feels amazing. I find it a little pricey, but it's well worth it. They also have monthly specials which are more reasonable. Their products are all excellent and you can try samples of anything before you decide to purchase. I have tried almost all the facials, and I can't say I have a favourite - they are all amazing. I found most other spas don't do proper extractions, they do one or two and call it a day. Here, they spend the time according to your skin's needs and my face always feels like it can breathe again once the treatment is completed.
