I have gone to many salons in the city in my four years living here. I will have to say this salon had the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Considering my experience was over 5 months ago and I am still frustrated when I think of it, that means a lot!!!! Ms. Cruz did my nails and they turned out terrible!! She did not properly cut the cuticles and she rushed through the whole thing. When I brought up the cuticles to her, she became defencive. Considering I get a manicure every 2 weeks, my nails looked worse coming out of the salon then going in! Odd, eh?? I was leaving on vacation so I needed it done, but Ms. Cruz said she did not have time to fix it, continuing to be defencive. As my purchase was on-line through one of the deal vendors, I could not avoid paying her, as she already had my money! Clever. She knew this and made it clear she was not refunding me. At this point she didn't even give me the facial which was part of my deal. She told me to deal with the deal site, which I just do not have time to do. I went looking for a salon to get Shellac done - at around 7pm! I first stopped at the salon below Ms. Cruz's store at the back of the salon supply store. Unfortunately, they only do regular nail polish, but they giggled when I showed them my nails and asked if they think they are "done". That must mean something! I ended up going to another salon, just down Eglinton - Kozeta. They squeezed me in so I could have my spa treatment in before my vacation. When they saw the nail job Ms. Cruz did, they just shook their heads. I think what Ms. Cruz needs to learn is that it's not her "16 years experience" that matters. people make mistakes. It's the way you handle them. If you have that experience, you know when you do a terrible job. I felt treated like garbage by her, robbed of my money and a decent manicure and NO FACIAL at all. Unfortunately, I will have to be another "TERRIBLE" review in her 3 years of service that will need to be defended -much deserved. read more

I went here every 8 weeks for a year to get my laser hair removal for my underarms - got a great deal with them. Every time I go, the staff has always been friendly and informative. I did this back in 2013 so I don't remember the two ladies' names but I think one of them was Rose. Neither ladies ever tried to up sell me for any other services and both were always making sure that the laser level was just enough (not too painful). The place was clean and neat. The equipment they use all look very new too. Every time I come in for an appointment, they would ask the standard questions to make sure you are suitable for the laser session (sun exposure, whether you shaved or not, etc). Then they disinfect the area before actually lasering. One time, I forgot to shave (you need to shave before the laser session) and normally there would be a $25 shave fee (ridiculous, really) but the lady didn't charge me. Thank god she didn't. I would not have been happy about someone taking a dollar razor and forcing me to pay $25 for them to use it! After the laser session, she would apply aloe to sooth the redness. The entire treatment took maybe 10 mins. Quick and easy. By the end of the year, the hair for the most part was gone (total of 8 sessions). I'm pretty happy with the results. It's been 2 years since and the hair hasn't come back. I would recommend going to this place for laser hair removal! read more

Don't waste your time or money here. Anytime you have signed up for a service such as waxing/pedicure/laser/botox. Rose will always pressures you to get another service such as Silk Peel or Laser. It is becomes insulting after a while, when you keep refusing the treatment. The staff are amazing and friendly, can't say the same for Miss Rose Cruz. There are many other places in Toronto, that you can give your money and get better service and treatment. read more

One of the best places in the city. Rose is extremely knowledgable and great! I used their laser services and tried other services such as facials and mani pedi - Never had a problem and always felt welcome. Definitely a lot of care goes into making sure that clients are happy- after all Rose and Tino (the owners) are very involved and invested in their business. I would recommend this place without hesitation! ... And I think I'm overdue for a visit and definitely need to check out their new location still! :) Ps: I'm not sure why there are negative reviews on yelp for this business but they seem to be personal and vindictive... Ive always wanted to try laser hair removal for the areas that I get razor irritation from daily shaving. I saw that Second Skin Medspa was doing a deal with laser hair removal treatments. I purchased this deal and made my phone call. Rose was very polite from the beginning and promptly made my appointment. The location of the spa is very easy to get to and the atmosphere is clean, professional and relaxing. Upon arrival I did all my documents and entered the spacious treatment room (keep in mind im 6'2'' so its big enough for me). Rose explained to me what the laser does, how it works and what the benefits and procautions are. I felt confident in her experience and expertise. She kept me comfortable and relaxed and made sure I was in no pain. She talked me through the procedure, had some laughs and was on my way. I think this is a very easy and quick way to get rid of unwanted hair and definitely am excited to go back for my next appointment and see my end results. I had a great experience at Second Skin MedSpa. I received an email from FabFind last week. This, in and of itself, is not unusual. I get a lot of emails from group deal sites. It's been quite a while since I purchased anything. I know I'm not alone in this. We are feeling what is known as "group buying saturation". However, this one piqued my interest. The deal of the day was for a MedSpa, Second Skin. $99 for 20 units of botox. Intriguing. A slippery slope? Maybe, but one I've been thinking about lately. Technically I've done this before. I get botox for migraine headaches (it helps, a lot) cosmetic usage is a little different. Most of the points for the headache treatment are in the scalp, neck and shoulders. I didn't just jump on the deal. Oh no. I did some research first. A few Google searches - "best areas to treat with botox", "second skin reviews", "second skin compaints". A good search can save a lot of trouble. Always do your research. A great deal isn't a great deal if the staff is rude or they treat you like a second class citizen. I also found a post on the TeamBuy Q&A page by the spa owner offering to answer questions while their deal was live. Gutsy. Second Skin is located at Yonge & Eglinton. I'm familiar with the area and it's on the way home. I arrived at 6:20 for a 6:30 appointment. I was greeted by a friendly staff member named Tino (turns out he's one of the owners). After filling out my paperwork and getting me a glass of water I was taken into a treatment room. Tino would be treating me. I was reassured by the wall of certificates including his B.Sc. and RN credentials. He's spent a lot of time training for this. That's good. We reviewed my form, asked and answered some questions. One of the questions on the form was "have you taken any aspirin or NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory). I personally take way too many ibuprofen (that's another story) and this increases the risk of bruising due to the blood thinning properties of these NSAIDs. We discussed this and I wanted to go ahead anyway. I decided to treat the crow's feet and the weird little lifty wrinkle I have above my right eyebrow. I was given an ice pack to constrict the blood vessels beside my eye. A few quick injections and we were done. For the record, I woke up the next day with zero bruising and zero swelling. When the treatment was over I asked about other services that they offered. I was intrigued by their Silkpeel treatment. I spend a lot of time out in the sun in the summer and despite wearing lots of sunscreen and a hat by the end of the dragon boat season I have sun damage. This treatment looks amazing. Tino mentioned there would be a sale coming up in September and to watch my email. I will. I was also told if I had any questions or concerns regarding my treatment to send an email and it would be answered immediately, the mail goes directly to Tino's phone when he's not in the office. I think that's pretty cool. Was it pleasant? No. Was it awful? No. Will I be back. Definitely yes. Can I see a difference? Yes and I like it. My impressions... A well located nice space that doesn't feel overdone. Well trained staff who care what happens to you and that they do a great job. Great pricing, even without the deal site specials. I look forward to spending time with Rose (Tino's wife) the next time I'm in for a Silkpeel. I'm giving Second Skin a 5 star rating. read more

got mani/pedi deal via travelzoo. it only included mini mani/pedi but I'm satisfied with the result and the beauticians were very friendly and attentive. it's not one of the spas that provides you with tea/coffee while you wait but then the prices are cheaper. the location is very hard to find.. you have to enter through burger king door and then turn right into a door that indicates to dental office... and it's on the 2nd floor. looks like they constantly have deals/ and discounts so I'm already signed up for the next mani/pedi for my NY look. read more

When I arrived, I was told that the pedicure is only a mini-pedicure which consists of just clipping my nails and polish!. The whole procedure took 8 minutes! When I told the esthetician that I purchased a 30 minute pedicure she said that for a full pedicure, it's another $15. She then started on my manicure and when she saw that I had polish on them she then wanted another $10 to remove my polish!! Nowhere does it say that the client has to come in with bare nails! I even asked for remover so that I could remove my own polish and they refused only asking for more money! I left the salon without having a manicure or "pedicure" and they did not care or offer to rectify the situation. read more

I recently visited Second Skin Medspa, to redeem a Botox voucher I had purchased. Yes.. CrossFiters and hardcore trainers such as myself, tend to make faces when lifting heavy loads, which isn't great for the face at all.. lol. This wasn't my first time getting Botox.. I have in fact received Botox from several places in the city, So I consider myself well-versed on the subject. That being said.. this was the FIRST and ONLY time that my technician actually MARKED my faced, so that he would know where to inject! (most technicians ask you to raise your eyebrows and relax, to estimate where they will inject) I was pleasantly surprised at his diligence, to be honest, seeing as this WAS the only time this had ever happened to me.. so when I commented on this, he asked me if I would trust a builder without a plan to build me a house! Pure genius!! Seriously! I actually left the place WITHOUT the bumps I normally get from the injections ( I normally get raised bumps and bruises on my forehead). NO ONE would have actually known where I was actually from. The Botox I received also looks great!! So yes.. I will be back. Besides all this, I found all the staff to be super friendly and relaxed.. which was a great bonus! Sure the location is a little hard to find.. but consider this a well hidden gem within the city!!. I haven't had the chance to write this review because I really wanted to think through what I was going to write. I went in to get my eyebrows microbladed because I've always had uneven eyebrows and they were fairly sparse. Needless to say she marked me face with a thick pencil and then wiped it off. what's the point in that? They came out uneven and totally horrible! They were wayyyyy to close, she waxed parts of my existing eyebrows which I never touch because it gives them shape, and she made my eyebrow tails look so thick and shapeless. I came out a totally different person and i hated it! I wanted to enhance my natural eyebrow shape and she completely changed it for the worse! I wish I had seen reviews earlier about this place because she isn't tentative to details at all. I went to her follow up to tell her my concerns and she kept ignoring me and telling me to trust her. Her technique isn't details oriented and I wouldn't trust her to touch my face ever again. I suggest you go see other specialists before booking with her. She's pushy and she doesn't tend to details. A year ago she told me she's the only specialist in her field. I think it's worth going to other places. I understand she's nice but she doesn't come cheap. If I pay that much to get my eyebrows done (which everyone sees) they better be done perfectly. I am debating letting them fade or getting them removed. read more

I had a shellac mani/mini-pedi here with a travelzoo coupon a few months back, and the girl who did my nails was friendly and kind, BUT the mini pedi didn't even have a foot pumice or anything (I mean, this could be my own fault for not reading the fine print, but really -- what's the point of a pedicure without the foot pumice?). Then, while it was a super comfortable couch for me to sit on for my pedicure, the dryer for my manicure was on my right side which meant that every time I needed to put my left hand in to dry the polish I had to contort myself like a pretzel. This may not seem like a big deal, but I have a bum left shoulder and it was just short of painful - definitely nowhere near pleasant or relaxing. Also, I don't how they do their shellac or what was different than all of the other places I've had it done, but when the shellac came off my nails this time, they were DESTROYED. It's been about 3 months now and they're just now getting (almost) back to normal. Truth be told, they still look like crap, with cracks and weird nicks all over them, and I'm afraid getting another manicure will make them weaker. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the girl who did my nails was sweet - otherwise, really unimpressed. read more

BEWARE!!! Unfortunately, I must give some type of star to proceed. Otherwise, this place would get nothing! Silk Peel, IPL, chemical peel - this is a HORRIBLE treatment for the skin! Tino and Rose are friendly but in the end, they are there to make money. This was recommended for my skin but is the worst treatment to get. It strips your skin. So when you are told the after the treatment you will break out, this is because you've put your skin through a VERY rough treatment. Totally unwilling to assist when I called to report the reactions I had. They cut me off from treatment. No customer service and both became rude and defensive. Spend more money when it comes to your skin. read more

Let me first say this is NOT A FAKE REVIEW... I have seen all the previous reviews left by others and notice the owner only responds to negative reviews and then claims they are fake! MINE IS NOT! Hitherto, I have never posted a negative review because there are always 2 sides to a story and quite frankly I can always see the others' point of view... However, when someone is openly rude, lacks ownership of a problem, is unprofessional and believes an attack and reciprocal threat is an apt customer service response, my indignance steps in!! Let me explain... I own a Skin Clinic in Sydney, Australia and had to send multiple emails in order to assess and compare, a Plasma Pen that this business has started selling. However, unlike all other businesses, they took a surprisingly long time to answer and totally evaded the question of price. After being ignored yet again, out of frustration, I sent a final email threatening a negative review if I did not receive a response. Well, unlike their other emails (I had to wait days for them), I got a response immediately: rude, totally refuting accountability and still no price disclosure. I always suspect I'm dealing with a dodgy business in this scenario. Having looked at their modus operandi, I can see why the hesitance to be transparent. As Tino suggested in his email, I SHALL take my business elsewhere... Thank god I have been spared the involvement with this company! Imagine the poor post-purchase support! read more

I went for a full shellac manicure and mini OPI pedicure which was a gift from a friend (A living Social deal). I paid extra to have Shellac pedicure and french manicure. The experience wasn't the most relaxing, I had the manicure and pedicure done at the same time which at times felt like playing a game of twister...but whatever I'm willing to over look that. When the manicure was done I noticed there was a gob of nail polish making my nail stick to my finger, so i told the esthetician and she fixed it. The next day I noticed that the clear nail polish went passed my nail making the shellac lift from the nail and was starting to chip. I called the salon to see if they could fix my nails, they said no problem so I went in the 3rd day after having it done, I was expecting them to just redo the manicure because it was almost every nail. The salon owner told the esthetician to just file down the parts that were chipping and put another coat over top...i wasn't convinced but what do I know. When I pointed out where the nail polish was bubbling and chipping the esthetician kept passively aggressively saying "oh you're so picky" " "you like things perfect", and kept asking if i was picking at it. She said the polish was going over the nail because it was clear and harder to see because you cant see it as well as a colour, but isn't that what you pay extra for, precision? I was almost about to walk out because I was getting so irritated but decided to just get it finished. I left with my nails looking better than the first time but the next day same thing happened. Its been less than a week and I will have to remove the shellac all ready. In conclusion, I am not picky, I never complain and I'm very reasonable. I fully expected to go back to the salon and for them to admit they made a mistake and fix it. They obviously did not, instead the esthetician made me feel uncomfortable, tried to pass off her mistake as being my fault and gave me a bunch of excuses. I have had shellac done many times before and I have never had this problem. Needless to say, I will never be back! read more
