Since having my daughter, my skin care routine has been exactly zero. My philosophy has become, "people have done just fine over the centuries without all the lotions and potions! So who really needs them now?!" Other than Nivea creme to moisturize my dry, Canadian skin, nary a cleanser, nor a toner, nor a fancy firming whatever has touched my face in many, many months. A splash of water, a pat of a towel, Nivea, DONE. Off to bed! Over these many, many months, I've been totally fine with my lack of maintenance. In fact, it's been quite liberating not washing my face every morning and night. It's saved me an extra ten glorious and much needed minutes out of the day! And what new mother wouldn't kill for that "bonus" time?! But have I been deluding myself, thinking I don't need to take care of my skin properly? Turns out: yes. And it took a trip to The Freeze Clinic to figure out why. I went for my first visit after a friend, who has been doing the famous "cold light therapy" for a while now, convinced me to contact Jessica and Sachi (aka The Freeze Team), just to see what the fuss was all about. I was dubious at first because, really, how could something called "cold light" do anything to restore the youthful glow I once had? They were lovely, Jessica and Sachi. Even though they are experts in the skin care field, they didn't admonish me for not following any routine whatsoever. Instead, they educated me (gently) on how beneficial a proper regimen would have on my skin going forward. So I did it. I listened to them, learned a few things, then laid out on the table and let them work their magic. And let me tell you: after just one treatment, I kid you not, I have seen a major change - an improvement in tone, lift and texture. Oh, the texture! So heavenly! I haven't been able to stop touching it! It's almost a week later, and I'm still stealing quiet moments in the day to caress my face when no one is looking. But if anyone did look at that moment, if they DID catch me stroking my skin as delicately as I would a baby's bottom, I would proudly tell them why, "it's the Freeze Clinic effect, darling. I just had my first freeze facial and I was really nervous so I thought I'd write a review to help anyone who might be on the fence like I was. I have pretty good skin and I try to keep things low maintenance, BUT I'm getting older and starting to notice the signs of aging. I first heard about the Freeze Facial on Facebook--I liked the name and all the pictures, but it wasn't until I started complimenting a number of friends on their "fresh looking" skin and learning that they were going to the Freeze Clinic that I booked an appointment. I LOVED it!! The woman who did my treatment took my face and pampered it like a precious piece of art that she was trying to restore! I loved the oxygen rosewater mist and the light therapy, but nothing beats the little vacuum that sucked off all the dead skin (at least that's what I think it was doing--I don't even care); all I know is that my skin feels softer and tighter and looks fresher. The products feel and smell amazing and there was no red-faced awkwardness afterward. I've been wanting to go to this place in forever, especially since developing Rosacea with baby#3. Tonight, I finally did it. It was like out of this world. There was 'diamond microdermabrasion' which I swear removed reptilian skin off my face. Cold laser microcurrent which got the muscles in my face working. Different lights with oxygen infusions that made me feel part of a futuristic youth fountain. I'm not even exaggerating. The products they use are Toronto-based, local, clean products. I will be the first to admit, I have tried many High end spas/ clinics all over Toronto in the past 10 years and Freeze Clinic has been the best! What makes it so great? The service and the staff. I have been going for 2 years now and have found consistent results. Jessica is amazing. I always feel well taken care of. Loved my freeze facial. First time I've had one where I could see a noticeable difference in my skin over a long period of time. The staff is amazing and extremely knowledgeable about skin care. When I was there, I came in right after a pretty well known actress finished up and was paying. I've been three times for their freeze facial and am about to do my fourth. I'm hooked, at 43 my skin has never looked better, to the point of people commenting. My skin fairly average before with unevenness and the occasional blemish but now it's much more even in texture and colour. On top of that the facials themselves are nice and relaxing. read more
