RAW AND ORGANIC:…read more One of the toughest things I've written and definitely feeling vulnerable but here it is. Im gonna share something I don't normally talk about and when I do it's more as a joke. I graduated high school at 198lbs and in the 26 years since then I battled with my weight. I learned to "embrace it" rather than fight it. I started buying "Big Dog" shirts, I became a dad and went by "Big Daddy" all as coping mechanisms with the fact that I was overweight. In my "prime" I tipped the scales at 300lbs. I would go to lunch with some buddy's and would joke that I would order the family pack all for myself. I think you get the picture. I completely embraced the life of excess, I ate really well. I drank really well, I smoked cigarettes. I used to joke and say "I drink, I eat, I smoke, and I make a really darn good living." Through it all thankfully not a single cholesterol issue, no diabetes or blood pressure issues. Or so I thought, until earlier this year. Forget what perception social media creates. Earlier this year my life was out of freakin control. I had a serious panic attack and ended up at the doctors. He says to me, "I've been telling you to lose weight, and now here you are with a need to take blood pressure medication". A month later my blood pressure was still high and we had to double up my dosage, and even then it was still high. I needed to do something. I did the obvious, I quit smoking, eliminated drinking, started being a little more consistent with my exercise still not much help. I needed professional help, I have kids, a family, friends still need me, I felt like I was gonna die way too soon if something didn't change. I try to surround myself with good positive influences and I can't thank my good friend Christine Bou Sleiman enough for her help in this journey.

Tiffany (the chef) is so reliable and flexible, and the turnaround time is so impressive (no waiting until a certain day of the week to guarantee delivery, unlike other meal prep services). She labels each meal with the name of the dish and calorie count and cooks it all from scratch, customized to your needs - and I've noticed that they keep in the refrigerator for a lot longer than food from other places because of this! I'm a health nut who has one of these meals every time I'm too tired/lazy to cook, and knowing that the food is healthy and made by a local small business is SO much better than getting takeout from Subway or other "healthy" fast food restaurants. Plus, I've never gotten a meal I didn't like. I especially love that I can mix and match plant-based vegan meals with healthy seafood and meat options. Some of my absolute favorite meals are the Cajun shrimp and sausage when I want meat, and the Thai Green Curry when I want something plant-based. All of Tiffany's omelets are also SO FREAKING GOOD. (Pictured is the eggplant parm I got today!)

The severe pain lasted for about two weeks and made it difficult to sleep, stand, and manage normal everyday activities. I stopped running three times a week to rest my hip but the pain persisted into the 6 month mark. I was frustrated and unsure of what was causing it or what I should do. During my physical therapy evaluation, Dr. Justin took the time to understand what was happening and identified the issues contributing to my pain. He developed a personalized treatment plan with exercises specifically designed for my needs. Within just a few days, I began to notice improvement. Over the next several months, he continued to adjust my treatment as I progressed, focusing not only on relieving my pain but also on building strength and addressing the underlying problems. The combination of physical therapy and small-group strength training has made an incredible difference! I feel stronger and more confident in my body than I have in years. Recently, I traveled and walked nearly 10 miles a day for six days in a row--without pain and, just as importantly, without the fear that my body might give out on me. I highly recommend Dr. Justin to anyone dealing with pain who wants more than a temporary fix. I especially recommend him to adults over 50 who want to become stronger, stay active, and learn how to exercise safely with knowledgeable, personalized guidance.
