I typically love this place, I've had wonderful experiences with the doctors. What I am reviewing…read moreis the fact that they are under new ownership. It wasn't announced so if you get a bill thinking it should be from skincare Montana however, it's from, "Forefront Dermatology, a portfolio company of Partners Group." I called today to make an appointment and the person answering the phone did not sound from this country. This means they're outsourcing labor and not hiring local people to actually answer their phones. When I asked the individual if they were located in Bozeman, they said no, when I asked the individual if they were located in the United States, they said "they could not answer." I think this is unfortunate as it's getting away from the small town dermatology clinic that I loved.

Since changing hands this business has gone incredibly downhill. You can't call and talk to anyone…read moreto solve a problem. I was told that I could come back after two weeks and get scheduled since my wedding was coming up. I was ignored after calling and leaving a few voicemails. At the original appointment I was also told I had no Aspire points that were applicable and later saw the receptionist (new person) had redeemed them but not given the discount. When I tried to call about that I was routed all over the place and talked to several people who couldn't help me including someone at the local clinic who left me on hold for over 30 minutes. I will not be returning.

I've been an actual patient of his just a few times over the years, starting in 2012. Two things are especially notable: When this doctor sees you, it's actually **the doctor** seeing you! Dr. Tkach does all the technical work. (He does have one full-time office assistant and another part-time, but they're not technical people--they do the paperwork, especially tangling with the insurance companies.) Second, Dr. Tkach isn't in a hurry to get to the next patient. He doesn't schedule two patients for the same time, and it's likely he'll take half an hour (or more) with you, one-on-one. Also, he's not just a nine-to-five doctor. On most weekends, he spends several hours in the Montana State University library doing searches of the online medical literature and data bases for assistance in treating his patients who have highly challenging cases. (Since he's the Bozeman area's senior dermatologist, having started here in 1974, other doctors often refer to Dr. Tkach their patients whose cases have stumped them.) I know Dr. Tkach as a friend because of his regular attendance at the MSU Physics Department's weekly colloquia. (His extra-medical interests are wide-ranging.) Most weeks, he and I go to dinner after the colloquium, and that's how I've learned many important details about his professional life. Beyond Dr. Tkach's long-developed expertise, there's an adjective that's especially appropriate for describing him: Devoted.

Dr. Tkach is old school.... No fancy offices here. Would recommend if you are seeking an experienced physician who is willing to take the time and energy to work with you. His staff was friendly and easy to work with as well. I'll be going back as a patient.
