BEWARE!!! I was NOT told that I was buying a membership when I took a "free" class with a friend. I thought I was only purchasing four classes. The lady at the front desk that took my credit card did NOT explain I was buying a membership nor did she tell me the credits/classes I bought expired within thirty days!! . I thought I was only buying four classes!!!! When I called to inquire I was told to send an email to cancel. I sent an email stating that I had not used any of the classes I purchased and just saw where my credit card was used for another eighty nine dollars and did not know this was a "membership"plan. Shame on me for not asking questions. Shame on them for not telling me this was a membership and that the credit/classes EXPIRE! FYI. This class WILL change your life. Do yourself a favor and go to TJMaxx, pick up some grip socks and try it for free. If you stick with it, I guarantee you'll be pleased. It's a combo of ballet, Pilates and yoga- none of which are my area of expertise, but I figured it out. Believe when I say, if I can do it, anyone can. If you are looking for a great workout that will shape your body, this is it! I started going to this pure barre studio a little over 2 years ago on a free trial and have been going a few times a week ever since. This is my main workout and its changed my life! I absolutely love it. They have 3 different types of classes and different instructors so there variety and you never feel like you are doing the same exercises. I was trying barre for the first time and went to Barre3 and Pure Barre the same week. Barre3 was infinitely better than this place. The pure Barre website noted that "you don't need to bring anything to class, just a water bottle", but when I arrived they required me to purchase their $20 socks in order to participate in the class. Also, Savannah at the front desk is completely rude and obviously only cares about getting peoples money. I was not educated on anything about barre and no one followed up to even see what I thought of the class. I bought a groupon for 10 classes of Pure Barre back in October after hearing great things from people in other cities. This location is clean, the owners are friendly, and they have a great selection of apparel to buy in the front. The class itself is intense. I thought that it would be more ballet based, but it is a lot of small little movements that really work to change your muscles in a way that other activities have not done for me. It reminds me of a fun pumped up version of Pilates. Although most of the people in attendance are in fabulous shape, I didn't feel out of place as an average sized newcomer. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to try Pure Barre. As with any Pure Barre class, it is prohibitavely expensive to some, and I hope that they continue to do Groupon deals or other promotions in the future so that more of us can try it it out (I am a full time student). read more

This is a great barre studio offering a lot of classes daily, including plenty of Saturday and Sunday options! The instructors have all been wonderful, especially the owner Lauren, giving specific, easy to follow verbal instructions and frequently circulating through the class to give gentle but clear tactile cues to improve the student's exercise technique. While they don't offer a wide variety of different classes geared to different interests like some other barre studios, each class provides a nearly full body workout and you'll leave feeling rejuvenated and like you got a great workout in that 55-minute class. They do a good job of working the abs, seat and thighs in every class and while they do a bit of work to sculpt the shoulders and arms, I think this part could be improved: I always feel sore in my legs and buns the next day but my arms never quite get a great workout. Pure Barre provides a great strengthening and toning workout, clearly geared toward women's "problem areas," using small, isometric movements, light weights, a resistance ball, the ballet barre and your own body weight - that's it. While a guy could probably get a good workout here too, I have never seen any men in the class. Although a ballet barre is used, no dance experience is necessary and the class doesn't involve much choreography so even novices will be able to follow along easily. There is a boutique in the front of the studio selling all kinds of fashionable workout attire and accessories geared toward yoga and pilates-type activities. While I'd love to do some shopping here, it's pretty expensive on top of the already pricey classes ($20 for a single class, slight discount when you purchase class packages). I found this studio through Groupon and was initially interested because I heard it was great cross training for running. It IS great cross training for running, and really works your core among other muscle groups. I can see that my arms are more toned in as little as 4 classes. It is a truly challenging workout in which you will truly feel the burn (and see some visible shaking!). It's low impact in a high energy environment. At this studio, every class I've been to has a great instructor, and equally important to me, a great soundtrack with upbeat and current music! :) A quick note: Barre classes are mainly for toning and if you are looking to lose weight, you will have to supplement Barre with some cardio. read more

Knew very little about this class but needed a change in my workout routine and came across a limited time offer with a really good price point so I decided to take the plunge and try Pure Barre. I called before going to my first class and was given recommendations on the type of clothing to wear and was told that the workout would be done sans shoes. However once I arrived I learned for the first time that socks are really necessary. Purchased a pair from the boutique that is located at the entrance to the studio - $16 for the style I selected. The facility is fairly new so everything is really well maintained and there seems to be plenty of equipment - mats, light weights, bands and small balls. The room can get a little warm but otherwise, even with a big class, there was plenty of space. I tend to focus on cardio workouts and need to do more strength and flexibility training. This class gets top marks for really working some under-utilized muscles and moving them in some challenging ways. It helps to have some basic knowledge of pilates or yoga and it would be helpful if alternate moves were offered by the instructor for any beginners or folks (including me lol) who may not yet have enough core strength for of the exercises. Be prepared to see your legs shake more than Elvis Presley's hips. It is crazy how quickly your legs can start to struggle with the poses but that just served as a great reminder that I need much more diversity in my workout program to help cultivate a more comprehensive level of fitness. I can't do all of the moves and I still need to work on my technique but I am a fan of this workout and can see how it would appeal to a lot of people who want to develop their strength and balance while sculpting long, lean muscles. read more

At first we had a love hate relationship and now love has conquered all! The classes are nothing like anything I had experienced before and I have fallen in love. Let's be real, most of us have done all the other workout classes, gym memberships and personal trainers but PB is just different with the mixture of workout styles imbedded into one fabulous workout targeting areas most people need to work on. First class really kicked my behind and I was so sore I could barely do steps around the house the next day. However as I've kept going to classes I have a slight bit of obsession and I actually look forward to class. I have already seen a difference in my body's tone and posture. Pure Barre is an amazing workout. I've seen results faster here than in any other form of exercise, including training for a marathon and working out with a personal trainer. Some of the reviews say it's expensive, but if you come consistently it is actually a great value. I do the year auto-pay and comparing that to what I used to spend with a personal trainer, it's cheaper. And you will come and want to come! The instructors are awesome and each has their own personal style. Lauren, Jillian, Catherine, Elise, Melissa, Kaila, Alison, and of course Elle and Izzy are all motivating and inspiring. Your first class will be a little weird because you will be a little confused about what you are tucking, and you will be hurting a lot, but afterwards you feel great! I have been a dancer my whole life but never really had the proper technique to make it professionally. Not only has Pure Barre helped to improve my technique for dance, but it is my new passion! The owners of the Pure Barre South Tampa studio are amazing people. They are very passionate and dedicated to Pure Barre. Not only is the work out the most body-shaping, quick, and fun 55 mins of your life, but the entire atmosphere of the company, especially this franchise, is out of this world. A brief overview of my success at Pure Barre Tampa: today marked my 40th class since late September. I have lost about 6lbs and quickly adjusted to my new flexibility; I could do a full split in only 6 CLASSES. This is a TOTALLY BODY work out, and it WORKS. It never gets old, I go about 5 - 6 days a week and because it is not stressful on joints and routines change daily (not to mention the music!), I am never bored. I have been to 2 other Pure Barre studios in the state, but the Tampa franchise goes above and beyond. You can sense a feeling of belonging, after about a week or two of multiple classes a week, I felt like I was family. The passion of the owners and instructors shines every single day, from the early 5:30am classes til the night. Their dedication is unbelievable, and not to mention, this Pure Barre location likely has the most classes per day/week of any other out there, which is always very convenient for our busy lives! Like all Pure Barre locations, the retail store front is amazing, such a great selection to choose from. And of course, the fabulous owners Elle & Lauren will special order or hold anything, as well. It is REALLY hard for me to not buy something every day I go to class. The class/package prices are a STEAL for what you get, and they have great deals and specials often. I purchased a living social deal for 5 classes. Initially, I thought this was all I would do and then move on to another deal elsewhere. Now, I can't see myself wanting to move on; I love this workout! It is like nothing I've ever done. I've done yoga, pilates, crossfit, cardio/strength training at the gym, les mills, zumba, you name it! Pure Barre Tampa has made my body reach new heights. Although I have only attended two classes (so I can't tell you what changes will take place in my body), I can feel muscles work that I normally don't feel as much as with any of the workouts I previously mentioned. In the last class I attended, I could not stop my legs from shaking uncontrollably due to muscle exhaustion. It was great, considering nothing does this for me anymore! I plan to sign up after my living social deal is up. Also, I took my last class with Lauren McComb (the owner). She was great! She corrected everyone's form as needed (including myself of course) and made sure to answer any questions regarding technique once the class was over. The friendly staff, as well as Lauren's skill at leading the class, is the reason why I choose to come back to this location and not the others that may be closer to me. I enjoy trying new fitness classes that challenge me and I've definitely found that with Pure Barre. Each class is different and I've found that it keeps me motivated and focused during the 55 minute period. At first, I felt I would never be able to keep up but the instructors are all awesome at providing guidance. They walk around the room and correct your form and will even stay after to answer any questions you may have. They are very encouraging to each attendee whether it's your first class or you've been to over 100 classes. The studio is always clean which is important to me as a lot of boutique fitness studios are not. The classes can be rather expensive but they run a lot of specials especially for new students. I have to mention pure barre on Neptune and Dale Mabry. If you are looking for a low impact effective way to tone your glutes, thighs and core, this is an incredible fitness class I recommend to so many of my clients. I want to make a side note for expectant mothers, I have observed and treated mothers that participate in this class. The class helps stabilize the hips to ease carrying to full term and reduce labor and delivery... And recovery time. For someone who is not into intense cardio it is a great class, helps you strengthen and lengthen your muscles without getting too bulky. My sister does Pure Barre in MA and after seeing her results I had to try it myself. I absolutely love this studio! The instructors all have their own spin on it and are incredible at helping to explain moves and ways to improve technique after class. I've never been one to work out in a consistent pattern, but I can't get enough of these classes! I do recommend taking either the early morning classes or late evening classes to start, as there are more beginners. Pure Barre Tampa is a great addition to the Tampa fitness world. Pure Barre is a challenging workout that will literally leave your legs shaking. I have always been a big runner and have found it hard in the past to strength train without lifting weights. Pure Barre is the perfect addition to any workout routine. I noticed more definition within a week of attending. The facilities are brand new and well-maintained. The instructors and owners are very friendly and willing to help. Some of the moves can be tricky at first, but they always take time to help with posture and form. I don't think I have ever seen a PB instructor without a smile on their face! I wanted to wait two weeks before I reviewed Pure Barre to see how the classes worked for me. I LOVE it. I am currently a nursing student so finding time to workout is difficult for me. I am using my Husbands yelp account...but here is my story I took my first Pure Barre class on November 28, 2012. I signed up for the new client special one month unlimited. Lauren and I grew up together in Sarasota and she kept on me about giving the classes a try. So I signed up for the new client special one month unlimited because I knew if I was going to do it, I had to really do it. I knew I would not keep up if it was just a class here and there. Next thing you know I am signed up again for the following month and then another. The second month I decided I wanted to try to Pure Barre 20 classes in 30 days challenge. The timing for me was perfect because I am a Pure Barre Bride and getting married on March 17th this year. Lauren and Elle are so amazing, they meet and greet every single client that walks in the door exactly the same. They care about each individual person whether they are a brand new client or a long lasting loyal client. They are very warm and loving and they are two of the best business owners that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am a Marketing consultant for Livingsocial in Tampa and I get to meet new and exciting people everyday and I get the opportunity to see how many of these business owners run their places of operation. BY FAR...Pure Barre Tampa is one of the best I have ever seen and so well-run. Lauren was my first teacher, but she pointed out other teachers who were in the class. She stayed with me almost the entire class. She knew how overwhelming the exercises can be when you are the new kid on the block. I was in a class where it seemed as if everyone seemed like pros. There are always two teachers in each class so its nice whichever way you look you always have a visual of the correct technique. My legs where so shakey my first class, I was so embarrassed I actually thought to myself "Please don't fall Jessica, this is going to be so embarrassing when I do I fall, Damn I know I am going to fall." Lauren gave me a little smile and wink and they proceeded to tell the entire class "Shaking muscles are changing muscles, you want to shake." Now when I see people in the class shaking and I am not I get a little jealous and wonder how I need to push myself harder to get that shake. The abs workout is the favorite part of the entire class for me. I love to make my abs shake during this time too. Lauren says "You want your abs to shake just like the rest of your body did today." I make sure they shake!! Within two weeks (maybe less) I immediately noticed a difference. My Pure Barre Ledge was lifting and my legs and thighs were so much stronger. The first time I noticed how strong my legs have become I was out on a girls night out with music and dancing. I noticed I could hold myself up with grace and great posture. My legs were not shaky and it felt amazing. My legs have toned up so much so that it has helped the support of my back- which I have had years of problems with. My best friend was in town visiting me for my shower and she noticed the lack of cellulite that was usually there where my legs met my Pure Barre Ledge. To this day she tells everyone in New York City about Pure Barre and what she has seen it do for me and my body. My best friend and I were not the only ones who noticed the difference. My fiancé was amazed by the change in my ledge he loves, he is very impressed with my new toned ledge and he loves that I have dedicated myself to something that is so healthy for my lifestyle and the toning of my body. I was a walk-in and it was my first time. The staff was very friendly, but were understandably slightly more attentive to the regulars. I was quickly guided to where I can put my stuff and shown what I needed for the class. The instructor did a good job helping me with some of the positions and moves. Overall it was a good experience and great workout. I was never a fan of going to the gym and had not worked out in months. I knew some friends who did pb so I figured I'd give it a try! I started working out here inApril and I am so proud of the positive changes in my body! Not only am I more toned and defined, I feel stronger and have more stamina. The workouts are always different and fun. The classes focus on legs, seat, abs, and arms in 55 minutes, which is perfect to fit into a busy day. The instructors are also helpful and super sweet. They will gladly help you get into the right position and explain the techniques. Pb is definitely something that takes some getting used to, but once you figure it out you'll be hooked! I highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a new way to get in shape or just wants to workout with great ladies in a fun environment. I just hit my 500th class at Pure Barre Tampa and I can say that I still love everything about it! The technique continues to be challenging even after three years! The teachers all really care about the students and work hard to be sure that everyone gets the best out of the workout! What is so great about this place is the family that they have created at the studio! Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly! The owners Elle and Lauren and their entire staff are so friendly and approachable, you feel comfortable from the first moment you arrive. Elle is the ultimate fashionista making sure that the cutest most stylish clothing are available! But, no one in the place is pretentious so whatever you're wearing (as long as it is capris or tights and no exposed midriffs), you'll feel comfortable! My favorite exercise class and one that rewards me with immediate results - after a three month hiatus after an injury I was pretty out of shape. After five classes in only two weeks I'm back to looking and feeling more toned, and have shed a couple of extra pesky pounds. The owners are great and all of the teachers are excellent. I was looking for a new gym to join and figured I'd try this one out with a trial package. I had to go out of town for a week within my month package and was unable to take all of my 5 class pack. When I went to take my last class, they told me it had expired 4 days ago. I asked if I could simply take my last class and they said no, its through a 3rd party, buy I can buy a 99 dollar month pass. Honestly my friend went to that class I missed and said there were very few people. The workouts are good but I guess good customer service and courtesy are hard to come by these days. It is far too overpriced in my opinion if they can't even offer good customer service with the package. There are many other options that would give you a better overall experience for your dollar. read more

Pure Barre Tampa is the best fitness destination in the bay area! The staff are so welcoming and motivating. This is the first training activity that I have not voluntarily missed one session. I have never felt such a strong desire to drive the distance to workout. I have been involved in fitness activities since I was a young girl. After cheering in college I have had difficulty finding something that kept me motivated to keep working out a regular activity in my life. I have tried the fab diets, the fab exercise programs and the gym, but every time I found it too easy to "fall off the wagon." I have been regularly attending pure barre training sessions the recommended 3-4 times per week. Then I recently accepted the challenge to complete 20 sessions in 30 days. I have been coming to Pure Barre 7 days a week. It never gets old and never becomes boring. I am constantly challenged by each instructor and find that I feel the burn every single time. I have been doing Pure Barre for a little over two months. I have seen minor changes in my body but I know I need to incorporate cardio training as well in order to see optimal changes. Even though I haven't seen body changes as quickly as I would like, I am incredibly impressed with the desire to continue to workout and make diet changes regularly in my life. Not only is pure barre a great, motivational exercise to incorporate into daily life, it also makes you want to live a healthier lifestyle. I highly recommend pure barre to anyone who has found the rut in their workout routine, needs a change of scenery, likes to interact with others, or for those who want to see what the talk is all about. I had a baby about a year ago and while I have been able to get back to my pre-baby weight...everything ( seat, legs, arms, tummy) was not where it used to be! pure barre has been a way for me to target those exact areas in a fun and challenging way. The instructors here are very helpful and come by to help make sure you are doing the positions correctly. In the few classes I have taken so far, i have seen a difference in my legs, bottom, arms and waist and over all strength.
