There is no area to stretch and to do floor exercises without people having to walk around or over you. The only change is I do not have to fight with the homeless for massage chairs. The parking is horrible. You can never find a parking spot. Cars are constantly being towed. Good luck canceling your membership no one calls back and the automated service is horrible. I can go on and on.

LA Fitness is a high quality gym overall. This location wasn't very crowded for a Friday evening,…read morewhich made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The pool, hot tub, and sauna were all at perfect temperatures, and there was plenty of space in each one. There's also a large cycling room and mirror room for dancing. I also appreciated the little touches too, like having shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available in all the showers, and the water in the shower was nice and hot also. It's also great that they offer a "Kids Klub" even though it appears to only be open one day a week based on the posted sign. The fresh fruit smoothies are also a great option particularly for morning workouts and the lockers are spacious and give you the option of bringing your own lock. There were a couple of things that felt a bit off. Fox News was playing in the bathroom, which came across as unprofessional, and one of the benches in the sauna felt unsafe since the wood gave way. I also couldn't locate the weight machines, although I didn't check everywhere so they may have been on another floor. Overall, it was a great gym experience and I look forward to coming back!

If I could rate the customer service at this location lower than one star, I would…read more I have been an LA Fitness member for over two years, and the way my friend and I were treated today at the South Dale Mabry location in Tampa was unacceptable. We arrived around 10:00 a.m., and I was actually excited to bring my friend because I had been telling her she should consider joining LA Fitness. That excitement disappeared almost immediately. The employee at the front desk asked if I had a standard membership and whether I had ever visited that location before. I told her I had not. I was immediately told that I would have to pay a $10 upcharge and that my guest privileges were not accepted there because it is a Signature Club. I understand that Signature Clubs have different rules, fees, and membership requirements. My complaint is not about the $10. My complaint is about the way we were treated. There was absolutely no attempt to make us feel welcome. No one offered us a tour. No one explained what makes a Signature Club different. No one explained the additional amenities or why upgrading might actually benefit me. No one even attempted to speak to my friend as a potential new member. Instead, the entire interaction made me feel like we were an inconvenience and did not belong there. I cannot fully describe how embarrassed and humiliated I felt standing there in front of my friend after I had just been praising LA Fitness to her. I walked out of the gym and stood in the parking garage for nearly 10 minutes because I was genuinely shocked by how uncomfortable and disrespected the interaction made me feel. This should have been an opportunity for this location to introduce a loyal member and a potential new customer to their Signature Club. Instead, they managed to make both of us want to leave. Being a Signature Club does not excuse poor customer service. Policies can be explained respectfully. Additional fees can be explained respectfully. Customers can be educated about membership options without being made to feel embarrassed or unwanted. After more than two years as a member, I expected much better from LA Fitness. I sincerely hope management addresses the way customers and guests are greeted at this location because nobody should walk into a gym and leave feeling the way I did today.

As far as chain gyms go, Crunch is what you put into it. My one major criticism is that most of the trainers are consistently late getting class started or setting up when class is supposed to begin. That's disrespectful toward the participants time especially when you tell us to sign up and sign in. The machines are good and there are plenty especially the treadmills, steppers and ellipticals. I use free weights, dumbbells and kettlebells for strength. I do wish there was another area besides the HIIT zone to do your own programming. One last criticism, the solicitation of members when they are working out. That's disruptive to the flow. The price point is cheap and I've not had any issues with membership.
