Class starts at 12:00. Class ends at 12:50.
Well ... today class did not start until 12:08! Wtf?!? Mantra classes NEVER start on time! EVER! This is NOT a onetime occurrence; it happens over & over again.
So instead of a 50 minute workout; it was a 42 minute workout todayUNACCEPTABLE!
I had another workout scheduled at South Tampa Pilates so I thought I was going to miss the end of class (BECAUSE IT STARTED LATE). But no - as I'm wiping off my Megaformer, the instructor says, "last exercise ladies".
Each class costs me $22.50 so if I'm paying that much money, you'd better make it worthwhile!
And you can't "make up" for starting late by ending late (but again, that didn't even happen today so it was a 42 minute class). I make plans in advance & 5 minutes is valuable to me in order to get to my next appointment.
Here are some time stamped screenshots (photos attached separately). I watched the clock after taking the 12:06 photo (but had already put my phone away). The instructor is the one SITTING at the desk
The other BIG problem I have with Mantra is their "no show" policy.
One Sunday I showed up 5 minutes before the 10:30 am class I was signed up for. I wasn't feeling well but I knew I had to show up so I wouldn't be charged their (outrageous) "no-show" fee of $25. So I drove all the way to South Tampa from St. Pete in order to avoid this charge.
When I showed up I was greeted enthusiastically and told I had been checked in.
However, when I went on to explain that I wasn't feeling well and I would not be staying for the class that day, I was told that it was still considered a "no-show"?!? They said they would "let it slide" this time and didn't charge me $25 but the idea of being told it was a "no-show" visit when I was PHYSICALLY PRESENT in the building prior to the start of class is preposterous! Of course I expected them to charge me for the class I was missing that day (I bought a package of 20 classes so of course I expected to be docked for 1 class that day), but they have no right saying I was a "no-show"/absent when I was physically in the building. Would it have been a "no-show" visit if I sat on the machine and 30 seconds into class I left since I wasn't feeling well?!? I imagine that circumstance wouldn't be considered a "no-show" since I was sitting on the machine at the time class started. So I guess you have to play these games in order not to be charged or called a "no-show"...
Additionally, it appears that the 6 classes I purchased on Groupon were "frozen" after this incident. On my attendance history, the day I showed up when I wasn't feeling well was marked as "Absent"?!?! REALLY?! I wrote an email to the contact listed on the website but I still haven't heard back from the owner. I'm going to reach out again but this absurd policy has left me feeling like I've been taken advantage of. read more
