I've been doing personal training with APEX for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. DJ comes out to my house 4 times a week and we've never done the same workout twice. I've been coming here for a while now. My friend asked me to come with her and I was pleasantly surprised. It's 5 minutes from my house which I loved especially waking up before everyone to go to class. It is also right next to my job too. There are so many pluses about this place. 1. It's black owned 2. It's real strength and conditioning by people who are educated and know what they are doing 3. Great workout with results 4. Convenient times 5. Great community I personally go at 5am and its a big facility. The workouts are challenging and I definitely get stronger. Because I have a background in fitness it's refreshing to see a facility that actually teaches workouts correctly and corrects form. It's the push I need sometimes because I get bored thinking of workouts on my own at my gym and don't go as hard as a should. They have lifting days M/W/F and conditioning T/Th with a Saturday bootcamp. I usually go for Wednesday full body day and sometimes Friday for leg day. read more

Yea this place has changed my life. I had never been able to keep myself working out consistently until I started coming to Apex; consequentially I've always been scrawny with love handles. Last September a friend recommended this gym to me so I reached out and started personal training sessions with James. Six months and 20+ lbs later, I've got actual muscles for the first time and am training harder and more consistently than ever. No comparison. I can't say enough about James, Darryl, and Sam. These dudes not only have shown me the ropes and been incredibly encouraging, but they've provided a sense of accountability unlike anything I've seen before. The sense of community is fantastic. I was apprehensive walking in on my first day; these dudes look like they could make a fully grown grizzly bear apologize for looking at them the wrong way. But they've been patient as anything (I ask a million questions), they've taken pride my my growth, and I truly feel like a part of the group now. This is a no-frills gym. You are going to sweat. You are going to lift heavy things. You are going to do things you didn't think possible, and you are going to become a better person for it. And the coaches will help you every step of the way. These guys are amazing! I have been training with a few other trainers in the Tampa area since I moved here 2 years ago- these 3 trainers are by far the best! From their facility, to the small class sizes, to the workouts to their amazing personalities- it is beyond evident that they love what they do! I started off with personal training and switched over to the group classes (with the occasional PT depending on my schedule) not only do you see and feel the difference with your body, but you see and feel the difference with your energy and mentality working out with them. Even at 5am I leave feeling like I can take on the world! They don't boast or brag about their clients they just let their work speak for itself and that's something rare in this industry here. This place is amazing. My legs are so sore I can hardy walk. I've been working out twice daily and hadn't felt that for a few weeks. I'm definitely feeling it, and I felt the challenge. HOWEVER I want to tell anyone who is intimidated or scared to be the most out of shape person there. THEY ARE SO WELCOMING AND NICE AND YOU WILL NOT FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE! read more

While I have never been a fan of gyms for my simple lack of knowledge I was surprised how much I was able to do with help of Jay on of trainers during our one on one session. He understood my fear and worked to make comfortable enough to enroll in class something before hand I would have never done. I highly recommend this gym for anyone from beginners to expects you see all types of ppl and they have the ability to modify a work out to make everyone feel included and proud of themself. read more
