I went to the Pure Barre Central Park South for a Saturday morning class through ClassPass. This was my first time visiting this location (I've done a few barre classes otherwise) and it's a fairly small and intimate class. They were very welcoming to new people - the instructor had me come to the front and was good about adjustments and tips. I did a Classic class which was a good total body workout (arms, legs, core, etc.) Some of the moves aren't intuitive if you haven't done a barre class before. It's a lot of micro movements and holds, my muscles were sore leaving class. They also require grip socks and will make you buy some at the front if you don't have any. Definitely not cheap, but I think they also offer free trial classes or promo rates for new members. read more

Love the Pure Barre experience and the folks at the Central Park South location are so wonderful. The flexibility of going to various locations and the ease of using the app to sign up makes this a breeze. I enjoy all of the formats with Classic and Align my favorites. Define is a nice option and I really wish they had more Align classes, so I recommend signing up early. I've never had an issue getting into a class at this location. read more

The studio is a bit difficult to find--go to the second floor, to the right, when you enter the small door on the corner of the 200 Central Park South apartment building. Attended a free introductory class. Recommend for all first timers! Our instructor, Alice, was very upbeat and friendly. Highly recommend her. She led the class with high spirits and encouragement. This studio is tiny but cozy. I enjoyed a class with six other women. Definitely having more bodies in that small space could make it claustrophobic. No showers, two changing rooms, one bathroom, and free code lockers for your belongings (no need to bring a lock). The bathroom provides useful feminine toiletries, that come in handy and are appreciated. The intro class provided a manageable level of intensity. As promised, my muscles were shacking afterwards! Taking one star off for the pushiness of the staff to get you to sign up for classes/membership deals right on the spot. read more

Location was semi confusion to find. Very lovely staff but I didn't feel I was getting as much out of it compared to Pilates or Barry's

Booked a free intro class after seeing an ad online for one. Was on the way to purchase grip socks. When I received a cancellation, I called and was told that I could not take the class because I did not live in the area. Looking back, this was in very tiny fine print at the bottom of the ad. But not a very good business practice, especially for people who visit New York and could still be paying customers depending on the outcome of the trial class. read more

The class I attended had very little instruction - instructor did not ask who was new so none of the moves were explained. She'd also only demonstrate the move for like 2 seconds (probably assuming everyone knew it already) so it was difficult to even just copy what she was doing. Otherwise I think the class is not my vibe and I prob wouldn't come back just bc it was very chill and didn't really feel like a workout - but I acknowledge that was probably the point of this type of class so that's not their fault. read more

This Pure Barre location is actually at 200 Central Park South where it relocated at the end of August 2019. Initially I missed the old space at 60th & Columbus Circle, but I've come to really like the smaller studio for the Pure Empower and Pure Reform classes (I hardly break a sweat in the Classic class, so no longer attend those). A shout out to Collier (Pure Empower) and Sara (Pure Reform). I recently reached my 100th class with this studio, and highly recommend both Empower and Reform for the challenging workouts. The 2 pound weights on your wrists and then ankles really ramps up the effort in Empower; the only other workout where I sweat as much is on the Megaformer at SLT or at [solidcore]. The studio does not have showers, but there are lockers for your belongings, two changing rooms, and a single bathroom. A friendly and welcoming vibe overall. I found the barre classes at Exhale (just up the block) to feel a bit more like a cattle call with less individual attention, although I do go to Exhale to supplement my Pure Barre workouts depending on the class schedule. Physique 57 is also in the neighborhood; Signature II classes are a great, faster paced barre workout. read more

Sara is the best barre instructor I've ever had. Somehow she has an eye for the entire class and is quickly and effectively able to see everything and everyone and make quick adjustments that make a big difference. I'm very impressed by this studio and that they have hair ties, deodorant, protein packs, and Bobby pins available for use. Very happy that I built this into my Saturday routine! read more

Amazing workout! Very professional and harder than it looks. Concentration is on core. I think most barre classes include too much leg. Try it on Classpass! Fabulous read more

I've been to this studio a few times now for Barre classes via Class Pass. It's tucked away on the 3rd floor, so the space is pretty cramped. No showers or restrooms within the space, but there is one out near the elevator. The room itself is tiny too, so I suggest coming 15 mins early to grab a prime spot! They also offer Fiji waters and towels for all students. The front staff is super friendly as are all the instructors I've had. Christina is my favorite, as she is very hands on and takes time to show the moves. Especially if you're newer or just not up on the technique yet, she's the perfect instructor. Shari is also great, if you like moving a little faster. Barre can be daunting, but the instructors here make you feel comfortable. Word of advice for Class Passers. There are a ton of Pure Barre studios in the city, but this one is only linked with the studio on UES and Union Square. That means that you can use your 2-3 class a month at these three studios, but other Pure Barre locations (West Village, TriBeCa, FiDi, etc) do not count towards your monthly limit! Therefore you could take more classes at the other studio if you so choose. Overall, I really enjoy the classes I've taken at this Pure Barre location. It can be crowded, but the burn and sweat is worth it! read more

Front desk staff needs better training. Walked in at 10:04 for a 10 am class. (Late because the Upper West Side was completely overrun by the Women's March.) Cut off for studio entry is 10:05 -- because they want to make sure you get properly "warmed up" so as to avoid injury by jumping in without the warm up. I was sweating. I had just run 15 blocks to get there. I was obviously warmed up. The woman was on the phone when I arrived and finished up a several minute long phone call -- signaling me to wait until she was off before going on... only to tell me that it was now 10:07 and I couldn't enter. The classes themselves have been hit or miss depending on the instructor -- but this treatment was ridiculous. Never going back. Plenty of other barre studios on the UWS. Skip this one. read more

Just tried this class for the first time but have done barre many times at another brand. 1. The teacher had zero energy that motivated the class and basically gave instruction then paced back and forth in the room with no purpose. 2. She didn't explain anything to the class regarding how to use proper form such as tucking your hips or using your breath appropriately. She also didn't ask if anyone was new or had injuries. 3. She didn't go around to anyone making adjustments and I saw 90% of the class in wrong positions that would cause injury later. Unfortunate since I live two blocks away but I'll continue going to my other studio who has a hands on approach and actually TEACHES, not just gives instructions. read more

I enjoyed my class, but this was one of my least favorite barre studios simply because of the space itself. The layout is just really cramped. There are no showers, the bathroom is in the hallway, and the locker area is about the size of a closet and is right on top of the front desk. It's soooo uncomfortable getting dressed and undressed on top of sweaty, rushing strangers. I'd say the layout is probably enough to keep me from coming back unless I didn't have another option. read more

I've been coming to pure barre since december and it has been an incredible journey. I started because I was tired of having my little pouch experience a little delay coming down with the rest of my body when i jumped (damn it gravity) and wanted lean thighs. For reference, this was not my first barre workout. I used to attend the barre method but this is way better. I knew barre would give me the long lean thighs I wanted and had a hard time getting. I have the type of body that will bulk up with certain workouts and barre is the only thing that does not allow that to happen. BUT OMG MY ABS. ABS. ABS. ABS. ABS. FOR DAYS. I literally look like Britney circa "Slave 4U" with my abs. And this is in nearly four months. My booty is looking hella lifted. My arms give Michelle Obama a run for her money. I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm on the journey of attaining a victoria's secret angel body without miles of long legs (i'm 5'4 but they sure are lean!). If someone wants to begin seeing results i would come at least 3-4x a week. That's what I started with and now I worked myself up to 6x a week because summer bodies are made in the winter. The class is typically in the same format but the instructors (who are celestial beings determined to push you to your limits in a safe workout environment) change things up so you're working your muscles differently so you don't get used to it which I like cause I get bored quickly. The music is always bumpin' which makes the class super fun. In case anyone is curious about something called PLATFORM.... Platform is the cardio version of barre that's meant to be as a supplement to your barre workouts. IT IS SO HARD BUT IT IS THE BEST- like Abby once said before class "if it feels like you want to die you're probably doing it right"(FYI her class is gold). I wouldn't recommend this to someone until they take at least 7 to ten classes because you should be slightly familiar with the pure barre workout as the format is related and the speed of the class is much faster. I aim to take this 2x a week right now and i love the results I'm getting in addition to my other barre classes. Facilities are pretty standard. There's an outside bathroom on the floor one can use, two changing stations and a "freshening up" station. You can also buy workout gear at the studio (like sticky socks) in case you ran out of your apartment and forgot anything. I prefer the facilities at the union square studio a little more as the studio is bigger but CC gets the job done. Anyway, if you're on the fence about this. Do it. JUST DO IT. You won't regret it, it's totally normal to shake like crazy, feel like you're doing everything wrong, and feel like you might be the most inflexible girl in the room. BUT if you decide to stick with it, power through the workout, have your instructor guide you to the right way to tuck and then somehow stay there you will see results, I promise. You can do it galpal! Just keep tuckin' just keep tuckin'.... read more

I decided to try pure barre after getting bored with my other workouts, and reading reviews of this place on yelp. Overall, it was a pretty good class - lots of stretching and definitely made me sweat. They also play awesome music. However, I thought there would be more exercises on the barre. It was only about 1/3 of the class. Also, it was pretty expensive - $33 per class. I might try other barre classes to see if they work you out harder/put more barre time in. Overall, good class, but should be cheaper for what you get. read more

Dear Pure Barre Owners, I'm a member of ClassPass and today I booked a class at 9:45am at your studio. Unfortunately due to weather conditions and terrible traffic in the city I got to class 5mins late and as I walked in sock in water because of the rain the blond girl name Jessica refused the entrance because I was a classpass member therefore you have in place a 5mins policy but she made sure to say if I was a Pure Class member my situation would be different. I explained myself again the situation but with a very arrogant attitude she still denied access for me to take the class. I was pushed away because I was not your member otherwise I would be treat it differently which I personally think was a terrible customer service and believe I would never become one. read more

This review is WAY overdue! Please take the time to read... A little history of me: 2 years ago i gained 20 pounds (funny how it creeps up on you). Then I had a moment of eupiphany and said ENOUGH is ENOUGH. For almost 2 years I lugged my gym bag back and forth to work every day an went to Equinox WITHOUT fail at least 6 times a week. I hated it. The treadmill, ecliptical, useless expensive trainers, weight machines that didn't work for me and those damn squats. Not to mention that it took me at least 1hr and a half to get it all done. I ran and ran but saw very little difference. And NO ONE told me I lost weight in all that time. very sad. So then came Pure Barre - I stumbled on their UWS studio when I actually worked in the building. It looked fun and the owners were super friendly so I signed up for a class ( though at the time I was not a class person). I was immediately drawn in to the workout. Their techniques work every single area, even your shoulders in just 55 minutes!! It's a hard and an intense workout but it feels soooo good after and the bottom line - it works. The instructors are passionate about what they do and nothing short of excellent. They encourage you, know when your at your limit and still push you. Just when you think you've had enough , we're onto the next step. It's a major calorie burner too!! Even if your the biggest klutz, there are NO judgements. So , 11 months later I've dropped the weight and then some. I'm toned and feel strong. I have never been in better shape in my life. Yes, Pure Barre is expensive and takes a toll on my budget. But for me, its a priority in my life; physically and mentally (NYC can be tough girls). I just have to stay away from Sephora for now :-). read more

Having heard great things about Pure Barre from a friend, I decided to try a Pure Barre class for myself, especially since it was offered via my Class Pass and was located conveniently on the West Side at 7:45 p.m. after work. The studio is on the 3rd floor of a building just off of Columbus Circle. The studio is small and there isn't a bathroom directly inside the studio, but there are cubbies (without locks) and small areas where you can change. The front desk was extremely friendly and personable and made sure I had everything I needed before class started. The class itself was similar to other barre classes I've taken, especially Physique 57. The class was very high energy and I loved the teacher, who kept coming over to me (knowing I was a first-timer there) to correct my movements and encourage me. With about 25 women in the room, the space still felt roomy and I felt like I had my own area to stretch out and truly move about. Unlike many other studios, this studio didn't smell like sweat and wasn't claustrophobic or overwhelmed by the mist of workout. By the end of class, I was sweaty as a dog, but I still felt refreshed and rejuvenated! I can't comment on the price of the class since I came through Class Pass, but I am assuming that this studio is pricey given the studio's demographic and the upscale atmosphere. Regardless, I recommend checking out a class because this was an incredible workout, especially for beginners who need some extra attention! read more

I prefer their Brooklyn and Union Square location to this one but I loved the teacher I took class with. The studio is located in building with bathrooms down the hall and the waiting area/locker area is not existent and smaller than their other city counterparts. However, class was of course, great! Even though it was a mid-afternoon class on a Sunday, it was really full and the instructor was friendly and very good at teaching. (I've tried to go back to find out who was teaching but it's not showing up :( Either way very accessible if you live in the Columbus Circle area with a great class that will really work your seat and core. read more

I've been going to this Pure Barre location for close to 6 months and can't believe I've never left a review! This is the BEST workout with the friendliest instructors you can find in NYC. I spent a lot of time prior to writing this review to try deciding who my favorite instructor is but I really can't choose because they're all equally wonderful. I do like that the owner, Margret teaches and often takes the classes, it's refreshing to see a business owner who loves what their selling. read more

Worst Barre/gym experience I've ever had. Be careful before you make your decision to stay with them. I tried one class and felt fine, then bought a monthly pass and planned to stay with them because it's very close to where I live. Big, big mistake. Class is always very crowded. Only 1-2 out of 6 teacher I've had classes with have corrected my move. You can barely see teacher because the crowd. It is definitely worse than following DVD at home by yourself. I didn't have any body change during the plan I bought from them. Class is not that challenging even for a beginner and all the classes are basically same. They don't have shower and barely have any space to change. Nobody is responsible for your personal belonging leaving there because there is no locker. The worst part is, they make it really hard for you to cancel or change your registered class. I absolutely understand the cancellation policy and it's reasonable to charge me if I don't show up for the class I registered. One time my schedule is a little bit tight for the class, so I called the front desk said " hey I am sorry I probably will be late for the class, is it possible to cancel it? If not I can still push to make it." The staff told me in the phone: "you are fine, no worries, it's canceled". I thanked her and later found my credit card was charged $20 for the not showing fee. Excuse me? I could've made the class! Why did you cancel my class and tell me I am fine in the phone when I was trying to avoid not showing? I also understand you can't get in the class because you will interrupt the class, but you should be able to get in and reschedule your class with front desk staff, which is how it works in other barre places. One time I got there right after the class started 2min. They locked the door in front of me and ignore my knocking and phone call. Then of course, charge me as not showing after the class. When I went back later, the front desk staff insisted that she locked the door later than the time I arrived with a rude attitude until I told her we can go check the camera in the building. I can't believe I got myself into a place like this. I switched to another barre gym and feel way better even it's a little further away. I'll never go back to pure barre. read more

I love to have classes here, it's also a very convenient location, and the schedule is great for breaking a sweat after work. So far I had classes with April, Meghan and Cori, they were all great. I hope there could be more changing rooms, so if I got in not very early, I don't have to wait long. read more

I used to hate working out until I went to Pure Barre. I first discovered Pure Barre through Classpass. I liked it so much that I paused my Classpass membership to do a 1 month unlimited pass through Pure Barre. I was excited about it because it was a "new client special" so it was only $150 for the unlimited month. This was totally worth it. I would go several times a week and even got my mom and coworkers to come with me a few times. Now i'm back to try to snag a spot in classes through Classpass since it's too expensive to me otherwise. I've gone to other barre classes in the city including Core Fusion Barre at Exhale and I still prefer Pure Barre. My favorite teacher of all time is Rebecca Fale. She is so good at explaining the movements before class if you're new and she seems always so enthusiastic and engaged within the class. She is really the best! While the Union Square location is nicer, I come back to UWS just for Rebecca sometimes. One complaint I have is using the Pure Barre website. It is very confusing to figure out how to buy a class and it should be more in your face. It turns out first you have to choose your studio before you can purchase a class. I would recommend they have a web designer reconfigure their website. read more

I'm pretty happy that I found PB. Classes are very much the same, and the routine is almost identical each time. Crowded during evening classes and sometimes it's really hard to find a spot. I like the instructors though it's hard to see them sometimes, that's how crowded it gets. It's pricey for just 55min overcrowded class with no basic room for change and no shower. On the positive side: it's fast and simple and the bottom line - it's really working. read more

Pure Barre is truly addictive. I have NEVER been a person that works out and I have always struggled with my weight but with these workouts I have already lost 36 lbs. I have always been lazy but I now go to Pure Barre every day. The instructors are always warm and welcoming. The instructors are a big help as the classes can be confusing in the beginning. The workouts are intense without killing my sensitive joints however they all can suggest modifications if needed. I have always been chubby but now I am getting slimmer and stronger. There is nothing better when you start hearing the compliments on your looks and that is thanks to Pure Barre. The price is high but then everything in Manhattan is always expensive. Their single classes are no deal but their packages are better. I have placed myself on the one year commitment which they auto charge me every month and it has worked out great for me since I go everyday. Once you start you will feel lost without it. The studio is small but in a comfortable way. The classes always fill up quickly so book early!! Also because it is a small studio there is no shower and only two changing areas. I personally do not shower anywhere but my home but that might be a problem for some. I love this studio and the people that run it! read more

I have tried many pure barre classes before. Today, I had almost fainted during the course. I had asked the front desk receptionist for a water bottle. Her immediate concern was "can I charge it to your card?" Rather than the well being of a client. Then, kept implying that it was my own health that caused the discomfort. This is the level of customer service provided... read more

This review is probably more of 3.5 than a 4. I took my first class at Pure Barre, it's a small space but not tight. There is a cubby area and bathroom in the back through the studio. If you needed to change you would need to wait until the previous class wrapped up. The room is carpeted as many mentioned; if you don't have sticky socks it's tough to do planks without sliding all over. The carpet also is scratchy on the arms during planks but you're not there a lot. I thought it was a nicely arranged barre class; it had a good flow from muscle group to muscle group. At times it was hard to follow along with verbal instructions, luckily, I had another instructor from the studio taking a class a few people down from me so I would just try and copy her movements and hope it was something close. I was expecting more adjustments with this being my first class here. The instructor had her phone in her hand the whole class, I'm not sure if she was following along with the workout or adjusting music but that seemed a little odd to me. The music choices were great though, very upbeat. Overall it was a good toning workout and I'll go back again. read more

Out of all the barre classes I have done, Pure Barre is likely my least favorite. The reason for this is probably because of the instructors. I find the Pure Barre instructors to be the least friendly and upbeat of any of the barre studios I have attended. I did not have a great experience my first class. I left very frustrated by how I was treated and I did not really love the studio in general as I did not feel a welcoming connection as I had with some other barre studios. Despite my less than stellar first experience with Pure Barre, I decided to return. My second instructor was a little bit more friendly and sympathetic and I guess I started to get use to the carpet that annoyed me during my first visit. The instructors are very hit or miss, with most of them being misses. There have been several times where I have felt picked on by the instructors, which really takes away from the workout. I appreciate when instructors come around and give corrections, but there is a polite and non-intrusive way to do so when you can see I am trying my best to follow along with the class. The facility itself is pretty sparse. There are no showers or bathrooms. I also find the studio to be pretty dark. I often ask myself why I continue to go to Pure Barre and I guess the answer is because I like the class times and the overall concept. read more

I was so looking forward to this class especially after the great reviews. Sadly I was so disappointed, I left early which I have never done. I am certain I did more than half of the moves incorrectly. All of the first timers got a little speech about how different this barre class is than other ones, primarily using small almost invisible moves. Having taken many barre classes, I didn't see much difference. Furthermore, - During the whole class, the participants were not corrected to make small moves which is the definition of this class' success - No one was doing the same moves making it really hard to correct oneself - The instructor mumbled into her mic making it very difficult to follow I will stick with the more established studios in the city. read more

Was asked to leave mid class because I was wearing a sports bra which apparently "violates their studio policy". I am pregnant and studio was simply too hot and stuffy for me to be exercising in my pullover. Shame on you, PureBarre, for singling me out while pretending to promote positive body image by posting Instagram pictures of thin models in sports bras in your classes. read more

I have taken both Core Fusion and Barre Method before and I honestly LOVE the Pure Barre on the Upper West Side. First off, location is STELLAR because it is right near home and work. Second, they are right near Whole Foods in the Time Warner center so you can grab a healthy snack after class. But most importantly, the instructors are really kind, encouraging and upbeat. I have grown very fond of Kendra and Meghan because they are both very engaging and always reposition me, even if I am a tiny bit off. I always leave class with a new playlist of songs as well. One of the owners, Kaitlin is really sweet as well. She also teaches classes sometimes as well. The variety of times offered for class are very convenient for the after work or before work or even lunchtime crowd. The equipment is really clean and the classroom is very tidy and organized. They even have snack size Luna bars for you to snack on before class if you wish. Very much recommended. You won't be able to walk in heels after your first few classes, but its so worth it. I'm so addicted, I go everyday! read more

Went to a really great class here today, taught by Nicole! I came brought class pass so I can't comment on prices compared to other locations really. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming upon first impression! I'm still semi-new to Barre so I definitely want to take a few more classes and see if this is something I'll want to do more often, so for now here are my thoughts: I really liked this studio, it was nice and open with plenty of bar space so you didn't feel crowded and could focus on yourself. Nicole was great with demonstrating the moves and then coming around and giving personal attention where needed and making adjustments, which for me was really helpful! I didn't feel uncomfortable being relatively new- there were girls at all different levels participating and it's definitely an open setting as far as ability is concerned. It's a cute space, they have free towels and water for sale, as well as some cute apparel and barre socks. They have little cubbies for your things, a bathroom down the hall, and that's about it - small but has everything you might need! I'll definitely be back, I enjoyed it more than some other spots I have done barre :) read more

I had heard great things about pure barre and was excited to finally try it out via Classpass. It surprisingly hasn't been too good. Compared to other barre studios (physique, exhale, fly barre) it just doesn't add up. 1. The workout: not that good. The movements are very hard to follow, especially compared to the ease of other barre places. I found it impossible to feel that signature barre "burn" (with the exception of the original opening series of movies, which includes planks, etc.) It shouldn't be that hard for a workout like this to work. I've stayed after multiple times and gone over my form with the instructors, but it hasn't made a difference. Quite disappointing. I still sometimes go because it's on Classpass and why not, but I don't feel like I get much from the class. 2. The studio: it's a pretty small space and the room is ridiculously hot. They use carpeting and lights and require socks. The room is unnecessarily hot to begin with, so this just adds to it. read more

Ahh i had such a good class here this morning. Class size was small - about 10 of us. Our instructor (Natalie?) was amazing. I think I was the only new student in class so both her and the girl at the front desk were super helpful in making sure I knew what equipment to get and to give me an overview of what the class entailed. Thanks guys! :) The class is pretty fast paced which I liked. There are shelves in the studio too so you don't have to bring a lock. Minus one star only because this studio doesn't have a bathroom or shower (there is a shared bathroom on the floor though) read more

I have meaning to write this review and was very excited to write it because of my new found love for Pure Barre. I started PB in October with a 1-month unlimited new member package and liked it but not enough to go back. Then I tried The Bar Method for 1 month - just so I could compare the 2 and finally pick my choice. After comparing the 2 I just wanna say- PURE BARRE WINS BY A MILLION- so i decided to go back again and things have changed since October (I NOW LOVE IT) the exercises are a lot harder but better and all in all the place improved for the better. I am in love with Pure Barre because as a hater of Cardio exercises this place does exactly what needs to be done.. and boy let me tell you ... YOU SEE RESULTS... oh yes.. off course (as long as your are eating fairly healthy and maybe doing some cardio on the side) I am fully addicted to Pure Barre so I would try to go atleast 6 times a week because I loved it so much.. I never got bored of the exercises because every class in itself was a challenge for your mind and body which is why I love PB soo much. As far as the teachers go... I love them all. they are extremely nice, sweet, down to earth instructors with such good energy -Shout out to the teachers classes I took (Meaghan Cleary, Megan Starr, Shari Katz, Danielle Mooney, Jessica Spear) that it makes me want to go back over and over, Unlike the Bar Method, that had 1 or 2 of the snotty teachers. Each teacher has her own style of teaching and off course some are more tough than others but I will admit that there is not one teacher that I can say was bad (at all.) The teachers are always there to help you, although I feel like there could be a little more correction at times, they do there best with trying to modify as many students as they can. I really do love PURE BARRE and recommend it if your looking to shed a few inches. read more

I'm 40-plus & am down to those last 15 lbs to lose, following a year of dieting and exercising twice weekly with a trainer. And although I'd lost weight and was fitter than I'd been in years, my "lady zones" -- butt, saddlebags, tummy, arms -- still were mushy, especially the saddlebags & abs. Pure Barre is changing all that, and quickly. I've just attended my first five classes, and I see a difference in tone already. I was athletic as a child, so true, that might be helping, but the changes are visible, and so I have to say Pure Barre works -- as long as you go four to five times a week and watch your diet, too! (I don't think just twice a week would hack it.) If I had 40 lbs to lose, I'd definitely need to add more cardio on the side, and would want to build more strength lifting weights, too. But if you're within 15 lbs of your goal (and who am I to make that arbitrary cutoff? Lol), Pure Barre will definitely help get you toned, tightened and there. It's a pleasant workout (still strenuous and leaving you annoyed at the pain during the process, but it's DOABLE and WAY more pleasant than running or aerobics). The $150/month new member special is THE BEST DEAL EVER (and the biggest enticement to signing up -- frankly, I wouldn't have if they hadn't offered it!), because you can take as many classes as you like to REALLY GET RESULTS QUICKLY (which of course leaves you addicted to the program and then . . . hello $$$$$ lol). Classes book early, so sign up online ASAP (still gotta figure out when they put the new week's schedule online to hit it then). Pure Barre is my new favorite exercise! read more

I Pure Barre! I frequent the Columbus Circle studio with a smattering of classes at the Union Sq. studio too. I'm aiming for the 500 club (I think I've gotten about 300 classes under my belt), and will continue this journey . I really believe that a strong body/core/mind, is really important and this is where I get to build on that! The staff are all super nice and the teachers are amazing too! Highly recommend! read more

I don't normally post reviews on Yelp, but my experience at Pure Barre has been so positive that I really felt compelled to share it. I tried Pure Barre for the first time a couple weeks ago, and I am a TOTAL convert. I've tried Barre classes at Equinox, but I have to say that there's really no comparison between the two. I'm normally a big fan of spinning and kickboxing, and really didn't know what to expect during my first class. The instructors were very encouraging, friendly, and helpful, and gave significant individual attention to each of the class paticipants. What's even better is that I got a KILLER workout!! You can absolutely see a difference in your body with just a few classes. The location is clean, convenient, and beautiful -- honestly, it's a treat to go there. Highly, highly recommend. read more
