Naperville Pure Barre does it right! If you've never been to a barre class, I recommend checking out your nearest Pure Barre and if you happen to live even remotely close to Naperville, I recommend you go to this one. I used to go to Pure Barre in Texas, but I ended up taking an almost two year hiatus because my schedule got a little bit to hectic to commit. Now that I have some flexibility, I booked a class at this Pure Barre and headed in. The classes have been exactly what I was used to, but they're also different which is what I love about PB. You know what you're getting into once you've been to one class, but classes are just different enough each time that it never gets boring. So far I've only taken classes with Carly and she's really great! She stays on top of the whole class and ensures that everyone is using proper technique. Don't worry if you've never taken a class before, the instructors won't single you out, they'll come over to you privately and help you to find the right pose/posture. The owner, Kristy, is also a gem. She's super friendly and very welcoming to everyone. The one thing that really sticks out to me about this studio over others that I've been to, is class size. I used to have to workout really early or at lunch to avoid being in a packed to the brim class in Texas (they did end up opening a second location so I'm sure that alleviated some of the congestion), but this Naperville location is perfect. So far I've only gone to the 9:30am classes during the week, but they really aren't packed. I never feel like I'm trying to define my own personal space in this studio. If you want to try a new workout that isn't crazy intense on your body, but will still be challenging and changing... this is the workout for you! It's a great change of pace from yoga with the faster pace of Pilates. And this studio is top notch! read more

Wow! This barre class pushed and challenged me. I've taken barre before but I felt the class I took here to be a little more challenging. The studio is located in downtown Naperville. When i came in The building i found the studio upstairs, it was modern and friendly. I was greeted by a staff member who checked me in and helped me get ready for class. Pure Barre had a promotion going on for new customers, three classes for $20. The actual class was in a small intimate studio, our instructor was upbeat and motivating. Whenever I wasn't getting something quite right she'd come by and help me with my position.I appreciated this and found it helpful. By the middle of the class I could feel my body (legs in particular) shaking. It's been a couple days and I'm still sore. This was fun, definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good engaging workout. read more

Pure Barre is my new found addiction. I cannot stop talking about Pure Barre. Everyone asks me, "Wow Lauren you look great what are you doing?". I just finished my 10th class and have already seen how I've become stronger (holding planks longer, increased flexibility, etc.). All the instructors are incredible - explaining each move in detail and walking the room to correct your positioning (all while cheering you on with great music pumping). It's almost like having a personal trainer, as they regularly do hands on corrections to ensure you're getting the most out of the move as well as avoiding injury. I have a bad knee and the low impact moves have been great to get my heart rate up, without high impact strain on it. Went to a class tonight with @ericas and was impressed. I've never done this kind of workout before. But the instructors are great. They even gave me a quick 3 minute tutorial of movements and instructions so I wouldn't be so lost once in class. It's 50 minutes and it makes you sweat! Ton of core and strengthening moves using your own body weight resistance. A few easy tools (ball, band, hand weights) so nothing intimidating. Instructors help to ensure your form is good. Good music to help keep you motivated and easy to rest and pick back up when you can if you can't keep going through the entire class. read more

I LOVE this workout and this studio. Low impact workout but you will see results. I have to say this is one of the best workouts to tone the buns, thighs, abs, and arms. I love the instructors they are very nice and really do go around and check your form, which I really love because then I know I'm getting the full benefit by preforming each move correctly and not risking injury! I've been going to PBN for almost two years now. I was not working out regularly prior to that and PB was a great way to ease back into it. Even though I've been going for quite some time, it's still as challenging as ever. The instructors at PBN are wonderful and encouraging. By far one of the most challenging fitness classes I've done, literally loose track of time & whatever is stressing me and instead focus on movements & body form. Instructors continuously repeat: the movements are to your own personal challenge level, using isometric repetitions coupled with opposite muscle group strengthening. This isn't a class to take if your goals are getting a tight butt in jeans, it's whole body fitness fucused. I've done marathon training, swimming, biking, a million cardio/boot camp classes. Pure Barre makes me feel the burn (&shake)like no other. This pure Barre location is convenient, in the center of downtown Naperville. The instructors are thorough & helpful. I'm not going to sugarcoat this ladies...during your first, second, and maybe even third PB class you're going to feel clumsy, behind, perhaps a little lost. After, you're going to wake up the next morning in so much pain, you're going to be waddling like a duck at the office. But I guarantee you, you'll be back for more. Probably obsessively so. The instructors, barre tenders (front desk)...basically anyone you encounter is so incredibly kind and welcoming. Each instructor is a little different and will help you in very different ways: some will inspire you to keep going, others will take a hands on approach to fix your form, others will just need to tap on a muscle for you to get what you're supposed to be squeezing. These women want you to succeed and feel good about yourself. It's amazing that the instructors can remember client's names, and use them during class to encourage you during class. It's by far one of the most woman friendly environments I've ever been in. That being said, don't be fooled by thinking that this is a "skinny girls only workout." Women of all shapes, sizes, ages, and life stages attend class. You won't feel out of place no matter how old you are or what you look like. There are tons of classes all day and all week to accommodate your schedule. I highly suggest making reservations online because classes do fill up fast. They have an app to make things even easier! So after reading this hugely long review, you may be thinking to yourself, "Natalie has drunk the Kool-Aid." And maybe I have! But classes are really what you make of them. Lifting your legs higher or lower, just small repositioning depending on the exercise makes certain moves much harder. Also, listen to what the instructors call out. I'm still pretty new...just took my 5th class. It's a good upbeat atmosphere and you get a great workout. All the instructors I have met have been pretty awesome too. I just wish there was more help from the instructors on proper form. Sometimes I get lost; the class runs at a pretty quick pace; and there is only 1 instructor at a time. read more

Love, love, love this class!! I bought the Groupon for Pure Barre in Naperville and I am so glad I did. I am very picky about what workouts I do (I do a lot of strength training and HIIT) but this class is fantastic. Even though the exercises are very small and static, you can feel it working muscles you never knew you could work. I love the music during the class also - keeps you energized and motivated to work harder. The instructors are wonderful and very helpful also. I have mostly gone to classes with Lisa and she is amazing. She is always walking around making sure you have proper form and is always motivating you to push yourself and dig deeper. Only downside is the price per month but I think it's worth it for a workout I love and I will be going back. read more

I love pure Barre and this is the location I would definitely want to be at if I could continue. The instructors are amazing, especially Lauren. The atmosphere is also really great. However, you're under contract and if something happens or life takes an unexpected turn, canceling is kind of hard. I cancelled with 30 days notice per the agreement but my next month is going to waste because I don't have the availability with child care to go. I adore Pure Barre!! I had major knee surgery in January 2013 and Pure Barre has been a critical part of my recovery. The personal attention you receive from the teachers is amazing, and the noticeable changes in my hamstring and glute strength has been remarkable! I have taken classes at a number of different Pure Barre studios and they all have a warm, positive, and welcoming vibe. Taking these type of fitness classes can be intimidating, especially when coming back from an injury, but the Pure Barre team always makes me feel at ease. This studio's location is phenomenal - right in downtown Naperville near the Apple store and cute coffee shops. In the past, I have had a difficult time sticking with a workout. This means I don't stay in shape for long. Pure Barre has changed that for me. I still dread my alarm going off at 5 AM (works best in my schedule), but once I arrive that all changes. From the teachers to the atmosphere, PB has it all. Kelsey is by far my favorite teacher, it is worth modifying your schedule a bit to take a class with her. Loving it so much I signed up for the PBLight membership. I really LOVED this place and my first 2 classes with Kelsey were AMAZING. I then had a class with a different instructor and she ended up telling me she was frustrated with me because I asked a question in class. :( The more we discussed the issue the more heated things got and I ended up in tears with patrons witnessing the whole event. My first Pure Barre experience was a pop-up, it was fun but a little confusing and hard to follow. I then signed up for a free Foundations class and became hooked. Within a few weeks of becoming a member I noticed a difference in my body and am now obsessed with Pure Barre! The owner, Kristy, and all of the instructors are great; everyone is welcoming and friendly. This is my first foray into group fitness, there are three class formats and no two classes are the same. I heard about this place from a couple acquaintances and thought it sounded interesting. I took advantage of a Groupon and committed to taking 5 classes. From the very start I was greeted and welcomed. I had no idea what the class would be like. After my first class I knew my bodyt was weaker in some areas. This motivated me to take my next class. The Representative offered an instruction class that focused on technique. I knew this would be very beneficial so I attended the 75 minute class on a Saturday. It was helpful and I would suggest newbies to attend the class if they ever offer it again. After my 5th class it was my best class and felt achieved. I still have a long way to go but I was starting to connect with my body better. The core work is very challenging and afterwards you feel your entire body has been worked. Hang in there if you can you will see results in time. I am on the fence if this is something affordable for me at this time and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the instructors at this facility. I absolutely LOVE Pure Barre! This particular studio is located, funnily enough, across the Lou Malnati's (lol) on Jefferson and almost next to the Apple Store. There's a bit of construction going on in and around the area at the time of this review but that doesn't deter me from making the 30 minute trek to PB Naperville! The instructors are fantastic and incredibly personable. Each class lasts about 55 minutes and people of all shapes, sizes, and ages partake in the battle of the barre. The atmosphere is welcoming and you'll leave sore, but wanting to come back again and again. :) As a heads up, these classes take some getting used to. The exercises look easy but looks can be deceiving. However! The instructors, as I said, are fantastic and will politely and very quietly correct your form. No yelling across the room here! The only downside is the price point. Without a Groupon (woo hoo!) or miscellaneous discounts, classes average about $23/class. The first class is free for new clients and they offer a new client one month unlimited class package for $99. Try the first class at least and you'll get hooked! read more

Pure Barre is the best thing that has ever happened to me! I am originally from SC and have been going to pure barre there for about 3 years now. I'm glad I found a Pure Barre to attend while I am here for the summer. I have been to Pure Barres in KY, NYC, and LA, and just like these studios, this one is wonderful! The staff and instructors are very helpful and inviting, and the clients are all very welcoming as well. You definitely don't need dance experience to enjoy your time at the barre. If you haven't tried Pure Barre, you should definitely take a class! Your muscles will be longer and leaner and toned before you know it! read more

Leaving a one star review for the lack of customer service prior to even walking in the door. I attend Pure Barre in the city and have been looking into having a barre option when I visit family in the suburbs and end up staying the duration of the weekend. I'm on their email list and when I saw they were hosting a couple few classes for new members on a weekend I would be in town, I right away jumped at the chance upon receiving the email. Even though Pure Barre is a nationwide franchise, I've found the each studio has their own feel. For the record, there are two I attend in the city and both are fantastic, though somewhat different from each other. I didn't hear back from anyone despite responding to the email almost immediately after it was sent. I then emailed again saying that I understand stand that although permanent members were likely more than priority, I was still really looking forward to checking out the free class. Still never heard anything back, whereas any other studio I've considered joining graciously provides class package offerings, etc, upon email inquiry. Unfortunately, I'll likely be looking for another barre option when I'm visiting home. read more
