Road weary, we were lured to Texas Lodge Bar & Grill by stellar reviews. This tiny dark place…read more(12-15 tables) has a huge reputation. We were warned by our server that several items were unavailable so close to closing. DH ordered the spaghetti and was offered garlic bread (not included) and I ordered the congri and lechón asado. It arrived sans the traditional maduros which made me sad. The dish itself tasted homemade and the serving size was adequate. I should have ordered a beer accompaniment, but hindsight is 20/20. Of note, there are different cash vs. credit pricing. All in all the stopover was worth it and I have no problem recommending them.

I had the spaghetti Bolognese which was one of the best I've ever had, though if you want bread there is an extra charge. I sampled some of my wife's black beans and rice with pork: It was a little on the salty side and there were no plantains (sacrilege!). The prices were on the high side: be prepared to pay $20 per dish and even more if you want steak. There is an extra charge If you want to pay with a credit card. All in all, it is pretty decent food for a bar and grill.

Surprisingly good Szechuan-based Chinese. Seats at most, a dozen and does a carryout business. We…read morehad carry out, found the food to be great, and it wasn't expensive. We expected less and got more. Good parking, friendly staff, a good variety of food, some vegetarian, some meat/chicken/fish. It's not fancy, with counter-only service. We found their phone off the hook, but when we showed up, service was reasonably fast and we liked the food. They have a variety of fridge-based cold drinks. It's better than average with a Szechuan heat-based twist, if you want. You can order chilis on the side if you like. Good value, good taste.

A ridiculously small portion of Mongolian Beef in a take out container. It was no where near fresh and bland in taste. The crispy spring rolls were the smallest I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. For over $30 it was a complete ripoff for the amount of food you get and the quality. Absolutely will not be back.

This place has a weird vibe. The staff can be pleasant but rarely friendly. The weirdest thing is…read morethat patrons STARE. We go to restaurants all over town, eat out 2-3 times a week but this is the only place where the other diners feel... hostile. I know that sounds strange, or like there must be something wrong with us- but nowhere else do people act like that. We really do eat all over town. From hole-in-the-wall places, to trendy international restaurants, to the more upscale chef-run places... this weirdly hostile angry vibe from patrons ONLY happens at Ray's. Maybe it's because the tables are close together and people feel territorial? Maybe it's the cold, slightly tense staff who are not always friendly? We basically stopped going to Ray's because of the hostility, even though the food is pretty good.
