Good food, great service, a bit load when the place is busy, but a fun bright atmosphere.

There is also a bubble tea menu which I hope to explore the next time I'm up this way. We ordered "a brownie thing" on a signature buttermilk waffle with vanilla ice cream. (They also offer green tea and charcoal ice cream flavors). As you can see in the photo, the waffle was a decent size and was enough to share (if that's what you so choose to do). The customer service was pretty good, the aroma of the fresh waffles was amazing and the interior was stylish and welcoming. I highly recommend!

There were maybe 2-3 other tables that were taken. It does seem like a really nice place to study. The place is clean, with soft lighting, and lots of outlets! We ordered a Belgian waffle, with soft serve ice cream, & the mango cheesecake as topping. The total came to $15 which was a little surprising. The food took a little longer than expected. But it came out looking great. The swirl was sesame & vanilla which had hints of both flavors; subtle and not too sweet but it was a little icey rather than creamy. The waffle was fluffy. I did not like the mango or the cheesecake as they tasted somewhat stale. Overall, I think for $15 it was pricey and I would prefer heading to Toronto for a egg waffle for $3 instead.

The way it runs is sort of like a cafeteria slash food court where you carry your own dishes to your seat and clean up after you're finished. The staff are really friendly and food is prepared fairly quickly. I love their soy chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries and garlic bread. They also have great butter chicken. Although the chicken is not real meat, the texture and taste is still really great! The lasagna and pasta is mediocre, though they do let you customize your own pasta. Highly recommend this place for vegetarian consumers and people who require gluten free meals as they list items that are gluten free as well!!

There's a very distinct soy/oil smell when you walk in. I came here a lot when I was on the Mac meal plan and really liked their sweet potato fries, buffalo chicken (soy) wrap, and their chili and flatbread. It is quite expensive though if you're not on the meal plan. The interior is a nice, though dim spot to hang out sometimes.

My oatmeal power bowl was delicious- be aware you cannot modify and ask for raisins to be left out, but I ate them anyway! My mom loved her avocado toast and said it had a little kick to it. You enter in to see clean, modern aesthetic cafe vibes and a rack of freshly baked sourdough from Dear Grain. The cafe connects to its outdoor seating area and feels a bit like a secret garden. There's a variety of baked goods, food, and drinks to choose from. Their espresso tends to be on the mellower side - I think it's a medium body, mild & balanced, and pairs well with milk. If you're into pour overs, Detour has an incredible selection of their own coffee bean roasts. Not a coffee fan? No problem. I also recommend this spot to pick up the best artisan style sourdough I've had in this area (if you're not close to Dear Grain Commissary in downtown Hamilton). Crunchy crust and the softest sourdough inside. Perfect for a fancy sandwich or to add to a charcuterie board! You won't regret it.
