I saw this groomer while driving down the street a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't had a chance to inquire about their place of business until now. When we stepped inside their business we were overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke. I was deeply concerned about the strong cigarette smell, seeing that animals were enclosed in cages. The cigarette smell is a health concern, along with the other negative reviews. I will NOT be taking my little furry family member to them. read more

They groomed my dog well but I didn't like the long wait. I did do a walk in but my dog had to wait in the kennel longer than anticipated and longer than what I was informed. I also had to tell the groomer to blow off the excess hair after she was cut but it was no biggie. Great price and my dog looked good. read more

After driving by this place for 8 years, I gave them a try after Alondra Animal Hospital wouldn't bathe my cats after boarding them without sedating them. I didn't want to pay $60-70 more for that, so I called Pup E Tails and was told I could walk right in and they'd be done within a couple of hours (on a Saturday, mind you!) I found the reviews criticizing the owners offensive. I struck up conversations with Kim and Santos and found them very friendly. My cats seemed to respond well to Kim and they were soft and smelled great when done. Cost me $25 per cat for nail trim and bath. I was very satisfied and will be back. read more

We took our dogs to Kim since maybe 20 years ago when she was at another location. Kim is not a social person, she doesn't do sweet talks, but she will accommodate last minutes walk in, and she won't close until everyone is taking cared. She is a very hard working person and she took good care of all our dogs. read more

I love this place. They do a great shave down for my dog Gatsby who is a 20 lb terrier and she knows not to shave down his face which makes him look more like a wiener dog than a terrier. I feel that at $45 the value is great. And I alway buy the flea pill while there because it is the ONLY thing that works for Gatsby. Frontline and Advantage don't do anything and he keeps me up at night with his incessant itching, unless he takes these pills. This isn't a "doggy spa", this is a pet groomer. For your pet. Who is a not a human and doesn't want to go to a "spa" no matter how much you are trying to turn him/her into a human. They do a good job, it's locally owned and I support local women owned businesses on principle anyway. Highly recommend. read more

I recently adopted a rescue poodle mix dog and tried this place for the first time. I walked in with no appointment. They washed him, gave him a trim and brushed his teeth. Traumatized from this place to say the least. I've come in TWICE and both were horrible experiences. The first time there were two old white ladies. They took my cat behind the desk where I can SEE them struggling to trim my cats nail. Literally one is handling my cat so poorly and making her freak out while the other one is mumbling crazily and failing to trim any nails. It gets to the point where they ask me to come behind and hold her myself so they can do it?... If I wanted to hold her and get scratched while trimming her nails, why would I be paying you? I would literally just do it at home myself then. I don't even know why but I came back a second time and it was just one lady and she literally just tells me to take her out the carrier and hold her myself. In front of the counter. Not even in the grooming area she has behind the desk. Like I'm sorry but that's not normal? Especially when she just has cats walking around the place and when I take my cat out, a black cat starts hissing at her and making my cat panic. I tell her that my cat is uncomfortable and she brushes it off and tries to quickly trim her nails, and does a terrible job as she only got the front paws and barely at that. I obviously get scratched all over and start bleeding and the lady just hands me paper towels with no emotion and another customer walks in and look in awe of what she's seeing too. Trust me, this place is a MESS, avoid it at all costs because I know I regret going. read more

Im not picky when it comes to how groomers style the cut, but my dogs hair was uneven. She had tear stains on her face still, and I guess they didn't even bother to touch her butt because there was still crust there. For what I paid for literally I could have done. I don't recommend. read more

I normally go to your elegant pet in lakewood.. as soon as i walked in i saw the groomer white male hit a poor lil dog on the snout with the clippers for no reason, while the owner was in the back. From what i saw the poor dog was still but shaking. He really thought nobody was looking. Don't bring your furry friends here. read more

I took my puppy for its first groom a few days ago. It's been a few days and I've notice my puppy has been itching, and have found flees. Note I have not taken my pup for a walk since having him groomed in hopes to keep him clean. Although he smelled great, his cut was uneven and now he come home with flees. I'm beyond disappointed, I feel as though my dog is dirtier as a result of this groom. read more

Came here to get my Pomeranian shitzu a hair cut with an appointment at 10 am and after about 2 hours we called to check up if she was done and they said the actual groomers just showed up and she wouldn't be ready for another 2.5 hours. They also couldn't even identify which dog was ours over the phone which was an it concerning. Completely ruined our plans for the day and not to mention when we picked her up we noticed that she was bleeding under her stomach after we got into the car and we're on our way home. It looks like they cut too close to her skin so she started bleeding. Luckily our pup is ok but I'm never bringing her back here to this careless establishment. read more

I called probably 5 groomers before finding Pup E Tails. I needed to find a groomer for my cat Stella that was nearby, open on the weekends, had openings, and performed anal gland cleaning. And this place hit every mark. They are located on Artesia Blvd which was great, easy to find and easy parking. The lady on duty was very nice. She took my cat and had me fill out a little half sheet form. Told me it was going to be a few hours and that'd she'd call me to pick her up. I had cleared my whole day for this so it wasn't any trouble waiting to be called. The place itself was very welcoming. Nice bright room and bright colors, it was also quiet and calm which helped my cat be calm as well. What I liked is that they had two store cats. They were well behaved and gorgeous. And I feel like their presence helps calm the animals too. For the services for Stella, I asked for a bath, anal gland cleaning, a personal sanitary shave and nails to be done. I picked my cat up a few hours later. She was clean and soft and smelled good. She was happy to be groomed which made me happy. The lady also asked me some questions about what Stella ate and told me she needs to lose weight (honestly she does) I asked her often I should Bring my cat as she's a senior now and has trouble grooming sometimes. So I was very happy with my experience of this place. I will be bringing Stella here regularly from now on. read more

I have used pup-E-tails for years. I own 3 shih-tzu's. I will be completely honest. I did take them all to the "other groomers a few blocks a way" a few times. Here is the honest deal. The "other place' people talk about is great if you want your dogs ears dyed, a show cut etc. they finish your dog in less than 2 hours and when you get home your dog smells like flowers and is a panic mess for the entire day. One of my babies has became terrified of the groomers. I took them back to Pup-E-Tails. I talked with Kim and told her Carmel may be a bit snippy. Kim said not to worry. Yes she had my 3 fur babies the better part of a day. But when they came home they were happy and not a panicked mess. They smell clean, not a perfume cover up. Just clean. As for the cuts, I am not in the show dog business. I am a mom raising my fur-babies. in the spring I need a short hair cut to keep my babies comfortable. I get them cut short the entire summer. Kim knows the breed. She will leave just enough length on the face, ears and head so they look cute but their bodies are cut short so they are cool. In the winter I let their fur grow out for warmth. Kim gets this way of parenting. As for dogs loose in her shop. A few are her own pets I believe, but I have also walked in and seen one of my own wondering around and happy she was able to do it. As for how long it takes for a grooming session. I have seen Kim work on a dog, when the dog starts getting annoyed or anxious Kim will give the pooch a break and put it back in a cage to chill, while she works on a different dog/cat. I LOVE this. She doesn't push a dog past it's breaking point just so she can get more dogs done in an hour. In final, I trusted Kim enough to take my very pregnant Momma too be, Carmel in 1 week before her due date for her maternity haircut before her pups were born. I knew Kim would be gentle and kind and Carmel would be non- stressed. Carmel came home happy and ready to go. TY KIM LOVING MY BABIES. You are one of a kind. Do not go here! I've been going to this groomers for a while now with my Pomeranian and they've always done a good job. I have now been taking my grandkids' dog who is a 6 pound miniature poodle to get groomed here. Kim is great however her new groomer (jack) is absolutely terrible. When dropping him off I told the groomer that I wanted him to have a summer cut that was short but you couldn't see skin. We asked him to keep his face with a bit of fluff (not completely shaved) AND HE DID THE OPPOSITE. He kept the ears with long fur but he trimmed it super choppy while his snout was shaved basically naked. His entire body is shaved with what seems like he used the closest blade possible considering the length of his fur is nonexistent. Now my cute little fluffy dog looks like a skinned rodent. This is infuriating and I am NEVER coming back to this groomers ever again. I highly recommend you to do the same. read more

I brought my 4 month old Siamese cat here for a nail clipping at 6:50pm on a Wednesday after calling and driving to Hills Pet n Feed in a rush after work only to get there and be told that the groomer left already (I called and confirmed before I went, but that's another review now isn't it). I called Pup E Tails kind of in a panic because I really needed to get him taken care of that evening, the woman who answered the phone told me to come right over even though she was closing. The place is on Artesia headed towards the 91/110 entrance ramp on the right hand side if you're traveling east, very easy to find. When I arrived the door was locked I rang the bell and was let right in (after hours) My cat is like a 5 year old with ADD off their meds, and never sits still I've tried to clip his nails myself and I just gave up. I didn't get the ladies name but I believe she's the owner, I handed him off to her and she sat him right down clipped his front nails without a problem and handed him back, I then asked her to clip his back paws as well because they grow super-fast and long and I now resemble an emo cutter from him scratching my arms. She happily accommodated for the same quoted price of $5 and then nicely explained that she doesn't usually do back nails because cats need them to climb trees, I explained my cats never go outside and all was well. Not sure why she has so many bad reviews I thought she was nice and friendly (chatting me up while clipping Hotep's nails). I will admit that it's not the most organized looking or freshest smelling grooming salon I've ever been to, it's a basic place for a basic price and I appreciate that value sometimes.. I took a point off because She has several of her personal animals dogs and cats roaming free, but that could have been because it was after hours IDK. But she was gentle to my cat and friendly to me and her rates were less expensive than any other place I've been. If I need either of my babies nails clipped in a pinch this is my spot. read more

Please note that I did give a poor review recently only because Kim and Charlie were out of town in Vegas at a convention and they did NOT do the grooming. Plus the dogs came back with fleas. I just got home from the shop and Charlie said he would make it good by giving us a free grooming. As I said in my earlier review I have been taking Gracie there for many years and I like both Kim and Charlie. We just left the dogs with the wrong person. I love bringing my dogs here. Not only are my dogs fresh, I know they well taken care of during the process of grooming. My lab had a huge skin infection last year due to flees & Kim total help him out with the medicine baths. I usually like doing the grooming myself but I feel Kim does a better job than I. She also shaved him for the first time today an did a great job and was patient with my dog the whole time. Believe me he's a big dog with a thick coat, he looks wonderful read more

Took my iggy-Moo dog here to get bathed first time had her groomed she a 80lb American Pit when I picked her up she smelled good and was was clean iv been to places that seem to spray perfume on her and not do any thing else and Moo was happy what else could you ask for. So I've learned to call in advance, and now when I do, and confirm that they are open... they tell me they can't clip a cats nails today when I get there. What the freak? Why didn't you ask that when I called then, if I was bringing a cat or a dog?! They were cheap and close, but I am going back to the place that was $5 more and further away. I went to Pup E Tails because it was recommended by more than one friend. They didn't tell me and maybe they don't know, it seems that it may be like some human beauty salons where there is a primary leaseholder in a shop and they have others either working for her or sub-leasing a spot at the shop. That could be why, now that I am investigating because of a bad experience there are multiple websites and phone numbers all listed under the same address. I had called a couple months earlier and got a quote for around $34. When I was ready to have my dog groomed, I called to see if I needed an appointment and they said to go ahead and bring her in, which I did. I did not ask again how much it would be. When I picked up my dog, they said that will be $40. When I told them how much I thought I was going to be paying she just said gruffly, it's $40! Not that it had been less and had gone up or anything. My dog barely looked groomed. I take her with me to my office as it is a family business and my office mate didn't even realize she had been groomed! In no time at all, she was getting little curly wings in spots she didn't have before from such a lousy cut! The person that groomed her was the only one in the place both at drop-off and pick-up and she wasn't personable at all either. I haven't shared my experience with either of the friends that recommended this place but I do intend to when given the opportunity. read more

I was taking my dog here because they were reasonable and accommodating. The owner (KIm) is nice, but very unorganized, There is a man who hangs around the shop that is either mentally unbalanced or off in some way. The last time I was in, I was told 1 hour, I came back in 3 hours and they hadn't even started her, as I was leaving the man yelled at the top of his lungs 'THANK YOU" He was either high or off his meds. It scared me. He is full of tatoo's, is always hanging around, and appears unbalanced. I like Kim, but haven't been back. Haircut was hit and miss. read more

I took my dog here once. Once. The vibe in the place was very uncomfortable. I was barely greeted. It took 4.5 hours and I had to call them to find out she was done. It was after closing hours and I was worried they were gonna leave her there overnight. When I got there her cut was bit uneven and they never cleaned up the eye streaks, which was the main reason for her being groomed. I found a different place to take my dog...less then a mile away....and now I'm happy. I wouldn't take a stray dog to this place. read more
