You could get something fancy and…read morealright that's a little small from Mestizo, ORRRR... you could get a huge four dollar empanada here. Get a few. I like the colombianita A LOT. It is basically a shepherds pie. But I also LOOVE their veggie empanadas. Their cheese empanada is as close as it gets to a GOOD grilled cheese here if you have celiac. (Please don't go to Harlowe for this.) And their arepas. They use this flower, right? Like an actual flower for flavor in some arepas and sauces. It's one of those IYKYK things, but please I'm begging you to find out. WORTH IT. These were available when I went, but they may no longer be due to being seasonal, but the guava empanada is a fantastic desert, and the Hawaiian empanada is so good it isn't fair having to choose between getting just one plus another flavor or getting two. Reliable hours, friendly server, and easy to get a hold of on the phone. (Plus there are usually dogs around when you sit nearby so that's always a fantastic experience)

We're from California, but we came to Portland and honestly, we haven't even found Colombian food this delicious back in California. Everything was so authentic, fresh, and flavorful. Definitely one of the best Colombian food spots we've ever tried. Highly recommend!

I'm not a Colombian food connoisseur by any means so I chose this restaurant purely on reviews. I…read moreordered the Patacones with pork, Estofado de Carne, Arepa Rellena with veggies and cheese, Arroz con Pollo and Sanchocho de Gallina. The food was delivered and plated quickly upon arrival. I appreciated the cardboard containers vs plastic but it did soak through. The bags it was packed up in kept it from becoming a mess. The smells were amazing and I had to taste as I plated. Everything was amazing, very flavorful, tender overall and large portions. Sadly, the carne was a little tough and I would not order this again. The Estofado de Carne had a hot sauce I had on the side. It was a very hot and delicious habanero sauce that was amazing! Great food, we'll be back for sure!!

I looked at the menu for a while, and EVERYTHING looked amazing. I couldn't decide! I eventually settled on the Arepas Relleno, which is a thick corn tortilla that is fried and split down the middle, then filled with absolute deliciousness! It's a bit of a fragile eat (mine was falling apart as soon as I picked it up), but dear lord is it tasty. My mouth is literally watering as I write this, remembering how good it was. That's saying something! The gentleman working there was very friendly, and kept speaking to me in what sounded like Spanish (I clearly don't speak Spanish). He soon realized I had little to no idea what he was saying, started laughing and apologized after switching to English. All the guys that had been in line before me were speaking Spanish with him, so I get it. Anyway, not much to say about the ambiance as it's a food cart, but overall a very positive experience and I will DEFINITELY be back. I gotta try everything else!

I got the croissant triple 'B' and my partner got the oeufs au benedicte. Although both dishes were good portions, I do believe that the prices were a bit pricey for what they are. Moreover, I thought that the service was okay. When we first came in, they said they were cleaning a table for us but it took about 15 minutes for us to get seated. In addition, the dishes took about 30 minutes to come out, so it was a bit longer than I expected for brunch. However! We did get a change to meet the owner, who came in as we dined. You could tell how involved he is in the business and he is so lively. It made the whole experience very fun, and we even sang 'Happy Birthday' for a couple people who were celebrating their birthdays that week! Because of that, I think the experience of the bistro itself was one of my favorites. Aside from that, I thought that the food and service were alright.

Cerdo frito w/ Tostones ($13.95) - The dish comes with eight pieces of seasoned and deep fried pork. It's fried long enough to make it crisp but dries out the interior. The rich seasoning, salty with a lime salt-like tang, creates a red colored skin over the meat. The fried meat is served on a bed of red beans and rice. It's seasoned well and has a good bitey texture. I ordered the cerdo frito with tostones. They include three pieces that aren't nearly as smashed and thin as others I've eaten. This means they are able to show a more tender and starchy interior rather than being almost completely crispy throughout. They are quite interesting in that they puff up like pita bread, leaving an air pocket in the center. They top the tostones with a bit of crumbled salty cheese and some salsa. Unfortunately these two elements soak into the tostones a little, causing them to become somewhat soggy. There's a tiny side of slaw, less than a small ice cream scoops worth. It's filled with crunchy vegetables and is in a really sweet dressing. I wonder if they purchase it in bulk from the Reser's down the street. (4/5) Overall, my meal at Casa Latina was a nice way to refill before our drive back up to Seattle.
