Great beach area. Lots of shady spots. We were there on a day with no cruise ships in town

Making a bit of a bar crawl on the East side of the island finally stopped in to check out Punta Mureno. We'll be back. Had their Gauc n Chips and an order of chicken quesadillas. Ample portions were enough for the three of us. Beer nice and cold. Friendly staff throughout. Quite a number of vendors stop by the table but are very nice about No Gracias and moving on. Several shops with decent prices. Clean restrooms. Bar looks fun with some swing chairs but we didn't do that activity. Great stop on the east side.

If you are in cozumel, and have a way to get to the more remote part of the island, this is a great place to go. The restaurant is on the beach and has postcard worthy views to enjoy while you eat mexican food and enjoy ice cold cervesa. We had beer, of course, guacamole, salsa, and an order of fajitas. Everything was great. The prices are a bit above average, but in line with the location and beach/island experience. The property is sprawling and after lunch you can take a siesta on one of the many hammocks, tan on the beach, take a swim in the ocean or in the pool. There are also many souvenier shops. We thoroughly enjoyed this establishment. Easy 5 stars in my book.

If you have time to go off the main portion of Cozumel, this is a bit of a hidden gem. Although prices are a little higher than other places, you won't regret the experience! Clean beach and great atmosphere, its a great place for family with tons to do! Enjoy the pool or the beach or a relaxing beach hair or hammock! Staff was very attentive and not pushy like other establishments. Kids enjoyed seeing a parrot and iguana. Overall and easy 5 star for me!

I had no reception to check into this beautiful beach side restaurant. This place is gorgeous. Our taxi driver brought us here after zip-lining. The restaurant was just an oasis. It's completely secluded. There's nothing in either direction. The prices are definitely high for what you get. I do have to say that the guacamole was delicious and the shrimp and beef tacos were amazing. The shrimp tasted fresh. The black beans and rice were also pretty damn good. I have to say that the price was just fine because of the million dollar view. I felt Morgan Freeman was going to pop out of somewhere with Tim Robbins.

Love this place, been coming for years....little known gem!!

The tacos were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and served hot and fresh every time. You can taste the quality and the technique especially in the way the meat is cooked and carved. Everything felt simple but done right, which honestly is what makes a taco stand out. The atmosphere is lively and busy (for good reason), but service moves quickly and efficiently. It feels like the kind of place locals actually eat at, not just a tourist trap with hype. We fully intended to try different taco spots around Playa del Carmen... but after our first visit, we couldn't resist coming back. When a place makes you change your food itinerary, you know it's worth it. If you're in Playa and debating whether it lives up to the hype it does!!

After seeing the great reviews here, we schlepped a couple extra blocks (despite a bit of rain) to visit for lunch. Well worth it. We liked Colores y Sabores so much that we returned on another day. Equally fantastic. The Margaritas (I got Mango) are great. Don't ask for frozen mango margarita because, although they will do it, it lessens the flavor of the fresh mango. Tried it both ways, so I can say for sure, lol. The Beans are something you do not want to miss. Something special about them here. The guacamole and pico de Gallo and chips are the way you'd hope: fresh, crunchy, not greasy and just enough pop. Enchiladas are fantastic - and there are three options for how you can get it. The Mole is outstanding - a little smoky, tons of rich flavor. I rarely order fajitas - but I wanted to go simple one day. Perfect. Tender chicken, and caramelized onions and peppers. Try corn or flour tortillas -- or both, like I did. Another day, I tried the tortilla soup and loved it. Soothing, simple, with strips of chicken and crunchy tortilla. We also got the chicken tacos, which were great. 3, with beans and guacamole on corn tortillas. Our fave, though, was the Chile Relleno. Heavenly. Ground beef stuffed inside and this dish was as satisfying and delicious as anything we encountered on the trip. The Carrot Cake! Definitely recommend that, too. Just sweet enough, and homemade.

I was clearly on an octopus kick that evening because I decided to get the octopus risotto. A little less flavor than the appetizer, but still pretty good nonetheless. I tried some of my friend's red snapper which was tasted good. For a nightcap, I chose the Oaxaca mule, which is a lot like your average mule, but with a nice smoky aftertaste. Lanterns hang from the trees casting a warm amber glow, everything feels soft and intimate, and a live band playing low-key jazz ties it all together. It's cozy, a little romantic, and honestly one of the better dining atmospheres on the island. Hard to say how it translates during the day, but at night, it works. The Food The food holds its own, even if the setting gets most of the attention. By Cozumel standards, it's some of the better food we had on the island. The menu leans creative but still approachable. We tried a bit of everything. The Mexican dumplings were fine. Not bad, not memorable. The trio of guacamoles was a hit, especially the one with fruit and bacon, which sounds questionable but works really well. The queso was exactly what you expect. Good, comforting, not trying to reinvent anything. The standout surprise was the tortillas. Freshly made and easily one of the best parts of the meal. They elevated everything they touched. The meat tacos were also very solid, well-seasoned and satisfying. Dessert was the house specialty, a cornbread-based dish with ice cream and toppings. Don't remember the name, but I remember finishing it, which says enough. Service Service was good across the board. Friendly, efficient, nothing over the top but nothing missing either. Overall Kondesa is worth visiting for the atmosphere alone, but the food makes sure it's not just a pretty place. Come for dinner, take your time, and enjoy the setting.
