French bistro vibe w/ modern Mexican/French takes on the cuisine. Sounds a little funky but it works !! Some of the old standbys from the original remain w/ some delicious new additions . Cherry bombs & Midnite ribs are some of the holdovers. We had Cherry Bombs and then Arroz Negro, which was black rice w/ grilled octopus, scallops and braised leaks in a citrus beurre blanc w/ green beans and also a fish of the day which was Mahi Mahi in a curry mole. This is the first place we came to eat when we came to Cozumel and it set the bar very high. We wanted to dine somewhere off the main street. This was a couple blocks away, and it wasn't crowded. This is a relatively small restaurant with a handful of tables in the back. There's lots of greenery and low light. Because we were sitting outside they offered bug spray so that we wouldn't get bitten too much. We started off with the roasted octopus appetizer - delicious. Perfect texture and flavoring. I was clearly on an octopus kick that evening because I decided to get the octopus risotto. A little less flavor than the appetizer, but still pretty good nonetheless. I tried some of my friend's red snapper which was tasted good. For a nightcap, I chose the Oaxaca mule, which is a lot like your average mule, but with a nice smoky aftertaste. It's been quite a few years since we've been back to Kinta, and as they say I could kick myself in the bootie for that one. Drinks, food, and service we amazing. I couldn't ask for better from Kristopher. Honestly, now that my kids are older and their taste in exploring new flavors have grown, there were dishes for everyone. I had made reservations and requested to dine in Air Conditioning and was pleasantly surprise that our one and only table was set in the air conditioned room. We all started off with cocktails... amazing Margaritas, Kinta Mojito and White Sangria. Kristopher set us up with some appetizer goodies and a Flat Bread with Tomato, Cheese and Cilantro Pesto. Entrees were Cameron Adoboda (shrimp, achiote sauce, pineapple pico, cilantro pesto), Black Risotto (roasted octopus, focaccia, ricotta, parsley, huitiacoche), Midnight Pork Ribs (jamaica-agave glaze, rosemary potatoes, yucatan salad), Papas (roasted potatoes, garlic, pickled jalapeno aioli) with a side order of Elotes (corn). This place was incredible! My family and I arrived without a reservation on a Thursday night and they said there would be a wait. It took a bit, but the manager was always checking on us and even comped the drinks for my sister and her boyfriend. Everything on the menu looked great, so everyone tried something different. Somebody give Daniel a raise! What a fantastic waiter! We loved the whole staff, extremely attentive. All the staff also had a lovely sense of humor and you can tell they love their job, a huge plus! We had a late lunch and were not super hungry so we ordered a flat bread as an appetizer (delicious- many of the items are cooked in the wood oven pizza! Wonderful!) This was our last night in Cozumel and we had a fun time looking for somewhere creative and fun with good food. Being with someone who is a chef, as well as fluent in Spanish is so much fun. Got the Elotes and Tostadas and the best thing they have here for s the tuna skewer. It was amazing I was here for 7 days and went to Kinta and Kondesa both twice. After being stuck with the worst food for a week, my girl and I left the resort and went to this glorious gem she had found online. Our server was most excellent, but sadly I didn't get his name. This place feels overhyped. Looking at past reviews I was expecting something super amazing. Service of course was very good and ambience was very nice with the outdoor seating. Food however I thought was good but nothing super special. I got the smoked pork tacos and midnight ribs. The tacos at best was just average, the pork meat was kind of dry. The midnight ribs was indeed tender but I didn't like it as much because most of it was very fatty and I'm not a fan of the sauce they use to marinate it (but this is just my taste) which is on the sweeter side. I also got the mojito which was solid. The price is very reasonable for good quality food but this place isn't outstanding as I thought it would be. Would not come back here again but at the same time I don't necessarily regret stopping by. read more

We've been coming to Cozumel for over 20 years and Kinta is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to on the island. Gourmet Mexican food with a strong tie to local flavors, traditions, and ingredients is the best description I can give. The chefs prepare the food with a love and care not often seen in tourist destinations, although you do have to go slightly off the beaten path to find Kinta. The drinks are exceptional as well, especially the Kozumel margarita (a margarita made with Jamaica) and the local craft beer Shamanes. Go to Kinta. You won't be disappointed. This place has 5-star WOW moments up and down the menu, especially if your taste buds can appreciate eclectic flavor combinations that synergistically combine in your mouth. We had multiple appetizers (lobster flatbread, pork belly tacos), entrees (fresh, seared tuna, shrimp something) and desert. The lobster flatbread was a little timid on flavor but that was the only problem we had on the menu; everything else was SUPERB. Cocktails were creative and delicious (especially the Hot House, which was not hot at all). Throw in fantastic service (thank you Daniel); the ambiance of a garden, tropical setting (which provides a lot personal privacy); and, it all combined to make Kinta a MUST STOP location while in Cozumel. The food at Kinta was excellent: flavorful and creatively presented. However the service left a lot to be desired. We came in without a reservation and waited five minutes before even being acknowledged by the staff. We were told that they had just seated a big table and were asked to be seated for 20 minutes. A few minutes later we were told that we could get drink orders, which meant we were given drink menus but no one ever came to take our drink orders. 40 minutes after being seated we were finally seated. Our server was cold and impersonal and strictly businesslike. We had to ask twice to get the WiFi password, which was written on a piece of paper and placed without a word on our table. The saving grace? Delicious food and well presented with creative plating. I'm torn with this review. The food and ambience would merit five stars. Coming from a city like Pittsburgh, which has an amazing trendy food scene, I was pleasantly surprised to find a trendy eatery on Cozumel! The food here was amazing - their wood fired oven really puts the finishing touch on the food. Four of us got the wood fired fish (sea bass - catch of the day) and it was topped with tomatoes and Brussels sprouts. It was so good, and hands down the freshest-tasting dish I'd had all week. The cherry bombs (small plate) were SO good. The cocktails were unique and super delicious. We got sides to share - the Mexican street corn and the cauliflower was so flavorful, I wish I had more room. Franko, the musician there that night, was the perfect addition to the beautiful, jungle-esque atmosphere. I will most definitely come back to Kinta during my next trip to Cozumel! read more

I was with the wife and two of her friends and someone wanted to check this spot out. We made a reservation earlier in the day. When we showed up that evening our reservation wasn't found. Not a big deal since it's vacation, but annoying and you wonder if this is how the experience will shake out. Fear not. We proceeded to sit at the bar and watch a Terminator of a bartender whip up craft cocktails. I had a Shamanes beer since it's not the usual you see on the island. Pretty decent lager. Once seated we ordered (collectively) lobster flat bread, pork belly, risotto and octopus. All dishes were outstanding. The highlight of the evening was Daniel. He was funny and talkative and we felt like the only ones in the place. And we eventually were which is when the real fun started. Daniel brought me a tequila Old Fashioned (pretty damn good) and we all did Mezcal shots. We came back two nights later for a drink and to say hi to Daniel. Sister to Kondesa, this became our favorite place for dinner this most recent trip. The flat-breads are a must; any of the 3 are great. The food is very well prepared. One night we had the fish and the other night the ribs. Both were outstanding. The selection of mains and sides are diverse enough to keep everyone happy. And, the service was impeccable: attentive and not intrusive. Dinner for two, with flatbreads, two mixed drinks and 3 glasses of wine and desert ran us about $66 USD; in other words, most reasonable, even cheap for a classy dinner in an open air court yard. read more

The atmosphere( nice relaxing gardens, super friendly & attentive staff, resident house cat at Kondesa ( Dexter) beautiful plate displays. Felt so at home. To start with, the meal was indulgent, which I wanted, short walk from my hotel which was around the corner from Kondesa, their other restaurant. You can't go wrong at any of them. This is my second time in Cozumel and this is my second time at this restaurant. I have to say that this restaurant provides one of the best service and food while I'm in Cozumel. They have two parts of kitchen of in which one of them is situated outside that Soli concentrates on wood oven grill they often served catch of the day for the fish and fantastic pork dishes. Be aware that if you sit outside there will be some mosquitoes but restaurant will be happy to provide repellents for you I would definitely come back next time I visit Cozumel again. read more

One of our favorite restaurants in Cozumel. The outside doesn't show the beautiful outdoor garden and wood fired grill that's out in the back. So romantic with all the lights and decor! The food is moderately priced - dinner for two under $35 US. We loved the choice of small or large dinners which allows you to try more of their original Mexican foods. My husband's favorite was the grilled lime and cheese covered corn on the cob. The house cat, Panchita, is very friendly and makes the rounds to the tables to see if there are any table scraps. Everything was cooked to perfection. The octopus appetizer was super tender and so was the fish (snapper). The flavors were good but not strong enough; things just weren't flavorful... And I was wishing that something would be at least a little spicy given the descriptions; but sadly, no. The fish was a little too fishy for my taste, wish they had chosen a different fish maybe or... Well I don't know what makes fish taste this way, all I know is it shouldn't be. Sweet potatoes need to be swapped out for something in season because they were terribly dry. Banana bread pudding was so good! Very moist, with fresh bananas and a few pieces of chocolate in there.
