Meh. We got bit up my mosquitoes. They were nice enough to move us. Ordered fish tacos- nothing special... they were disappointing in flavor and eye appeal. Neither of us finished the meal. Guacamole was decent but we had to doctor it up with salt. Pina Colada was not authentic ... must have came from a machine. There was a manager who offered tequila taste to the table next to us but don't know why it was just them. read more

Very delicious and fresh seafood lunch!! The service was excellent and the food was the best we have had at a Mexican port. We shared a platter with grilled lobster tail, mojo de ajo (garlic) grilled Dorado (Mahi Mahi) and grilled shrimp. The plate came with rice and vegetables. La Mission was recommend by a shop owner along the Malecon and it was a great suggestion. It is walkable (20 minutes or so) from Punta langosta cruise terminal where our ship was docked. read more

Would NOT recommend!! This was such a disappointing visit for the price that we spent. It feels as if the pricing is just to justify the cost of the jungle atmosphere, but even then, the impression was definitely poor and rather sad. As for the food, the only seasoning this place knows is salt--and they leave plenty of excess. The free soup they offered was incredibly salty, and my shrimp had no other seasoning. The service is decent, but it's hard to enjoy a meal when only one chef is cooking (open kitchen) and everyone else is just waiting for food to be served. I was walking around with my significant other and we were suddenly hungry. This seemed like the spot that would treat us right. Upon entering, it was impressive with a tropical feel. We were immediately seated at a table. I looked at the menu to see what was offered. From the Bebidas / Drinks section, I ordered a Margarita. In Pesos, it was 154. In USD, it was 7. From the Especialidades / Specialties section, I went with the Camarón Mission. In Pesos, it was 440. It was Mission Shrimp. In USD, it was 20. From the Lunch section, we ordered Tacos (Pollo, Res o Pescado). In Pesos, it was 220 and we chose Res. It was Tacos (Chicken, Beef or Fish). In USD, it was 10 and we chose Beef. We were given free chips and salsa. They were excellent. The salt and pepper at the table each amplified the flavor. We were given a free refill on them that was just as excellent the same way. The Margarita had a zing to it. It was flavorful and went down easy. I enjoyed it. The Camarón Mission wasn't too good. Everything on the plate wasn't impressive. On the menu, it stated that If You Don't Like It, You Don't Pay It. I wasn't charged for it, so I definitely respected that concept. The Tacos came with a quantity of three. They were excellent and so was everything else on the plate. I wanted to try one more item, since my meal didn't work out. From the Entradas section, I ordered a Guacamole. In Pesos, it was 66. In the Entrees section, it was Guacamole. In USD, it was 3. The Guacamole came out fast and it was an excellent size for the price. It was certainly enjoyable. The Tip's For Music group was decent. I thought it was weird that I was approached at my table by one of the members for a tip, though. The service was great throughout my visit. I didn't have any issues. First of all the menu prices that are being displayed are outdated. Everything was double in price. Food was ok nothing great. We have eaten at 4 other local restaurants all were excellent. When paying pay either pay cash or pesos. Don't use your credit card. They stated our credit card was giving us less for dollar which is not true. We have used at other restaurants and no problem. When you visit Mexico, you have to have Mexican food! Trust me, it doesn't taste the same everywhere else! What makes things taste even more amazing? I'm thinking it's the limeade! For real for real! I ordered limeade all around and it was amazing!!! Just like it always does! This is my 4th time visiting and I always order a limeade and of course, still amazing! The ceviche was my favorite dish!!! Probably because of the limeade but it made me extra happy! My tacos were pretty cool too! Everyone ordered their food and loved it! Taxi driver was going to take us to Palmeras, but we chose this place instead. Enjoyed the ambience with the exception of the flies. Shaded with lots of fans blowing to keep it pleasant. Started with an order of fresh guacamole and tostadas. which was tasty and plentiful. Ordered a fried fish (off menu) which was good. The shrimp cocktail had sauce made with a bland pico de gallo with a dollop of ketchup on top. It was mediocre. Service was okay. Place was empty. I thought it was a tad overpriced. Pay in pesos. My friend was still craving for lobster since the one we had prior wasn't that good. After a bit of walking around, we decided to try the seafood at La Mission. We started with the fresada and pinada drinks, which were very refreshing. We also shared the lobster dish and a ceviche from the conch shell. The lobster was pretty good- way better and more fresh than the last restaurant we went to. I also enjoyed the ceviche- it reminded me of the kind we got in the Bahamas. So our taxi driver recommended this spot, and I was way more impressed than I expected to be! I took a long time looking at the menu, trying to find the perfect thing, and nothing was really jumping out at me. Yes, I'm in Cozumel, but no, I don't go out for Mexican food often. It always leads to getting full on complementary chips and salsa and giant margaritas. Finally I just decided to go with the chicken burrito, and it was the best one I've ever had in my life! True to form, I ate half and was stuffed, and was made about it because it was perfect! I mean, it was absolutely amazing so I made Eric try it too, to see if I was crazy. He agreed, it was delicious! He enjoyed his meal too, and we were stuffed and tipsy and happy by the end! We have nothing to complain about here, and I'm so glad we stopped in for lunch on one of the last days of our trip! We also checked out the tequila and did a tasting in the back after lunch! That was fun, too, and it just added to the amazing experience! Let me tell ya, I had a burrito on my layover at the DTW airport today from some chain and it was not even a little bit close to the burrito I had here. No comparison, AT ALL! Thoroughly enjoyed LaMission. I had garlic shrimp which was not overly garliced and my wife had Coconut Shrimp. I've given four stars because of the Coconut Shrimp, they were huge. They were coated in real Coconut and served in an actual Coconut with a yogurt sauce. You can tell how fantastic they were by her surprised expression. The restaurant is open air and is a great place to just sit and relax, nice ambiance. It is located right off the Main Street along the waterfront. I didn't give a fifth star because the salsa was mediocre, just a pico, the chips were a little hard, not fresh, and they had a couple guys playing the marimba and it was excessively loud. Don't sit next to the marimba!! When we are in Cozumel we will definitely go here again. read more

The food was decent, but the service was absolutely horrible. The waiters are all running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I don't think I was given an individual waiter for my table the entire time. A man with a reddish shirt took my order. I assumed he was some type of manager as everyone else wore white. (Challenging my idea that good management could easily solve this problem) When he asked what I would like to drink, I ordered a coffee. With a quick attitude he told me they didn't have coffee, so I ordered a coke which seemed to upset him more. When he walked off, I could see a coffee pot brewing coffee at the bar, so I walked over and got myself a cup. They brought fries when I ordered a side of rice. After the other food arrived, a waiter didn't stop by to check if I needed anything for the rest of the meal. I tried the Mahi Mahi with garlic butter which was delicious. The Mexican Sampler Plate was the polar opposite and completely lacking flavor. It would have been nice to have a waiter bring me salsa but no one offered and the all rush around seemingly looking down to not be flagged down. read more

When we first walked in (8 of us) some did t want to stay because it was smoking from cooking. But we ended up staying. So glad we did. The chips, pico and guacamole that they served was the best. The Picco de Gallo was hot spicy. But it was so good. I order margaritas at our local restaurant that are good BUT this margarita was amazing. Not sure how I'm going to drink the local one again. Don't waste your time. Go across the street to Mahi Mahi restaurant. We waited in line for 20 minutes watching dishes be put up on the pass (it's upfront and draws you in) only to sit and be beyond cold. While we waited about 15-20 people checked out telling the long line how horrible the service was. And how cold the food came out. I'd Yelp the other restaurant but unfortunately they aren't on Yelp. I'd give them a 5 for service and food. Get the Special for 2 or 4! read more

I wish I could give La Mission five stars but they are lacking in the way of refined traditional flavoring agents. They definitely skew towards the cruise ship diners tastebuds--but don't let that fool you, there are plenty of options to try! Grilled lobster was a solid four stars for me! read more

Here's the deal. Would call this a tourist trap restaurant, as prices clearly inflated. Servers also slightly rude, and abrupt. Most not friendly. I know it may be part of culture, but I also hate eating in Mexico and being harassed for donations for music, etc... We ordered incorrectly as some of the food at the other tables looked good like the coconut shrimp, whole fired fish,but our food was average. The atmosphere was amazing, it was pouring down rain, which almost made us cancel going out for the evening, but on the recommendation of a friend we decided to brave the elements and head to La Mission; I'm glad we did. The rain mixed with their jungle atmosphere was a super cool vibe. The complementary starter soup had amazing flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed my coconut shrimp served in a real coconut! The shrimp were huge. My husband got the sampler so he had a little bit of everything and the kids got fajitas which they devoured quickly. Service was horrible. I honestly have to say that all staff looked as if they were angry. There were bees flying everywhere. The food was not good at all. I can't say anything was good, about this place. The salsa (pico de gallo) was flavorless. I had to add my own lemon and salt, no spice whatsoever we got a side of green chili, which was just basically ground up jalapeños at least we added that to the pico for some spice. First time in Mexico - first place we stopped, recommended by our cab driver. My family has never had authentic Mexican food, or eaten abroad for that matter. We were welcomed in by attentive, friendly, and multilingual staff. We ordered guacamole with our chips, and it must have been the freshest tasting guacamole I've ever had. I ordered chicken with mole, and I'd encourage anyone else to try that. The chicken was incredible. Normally I don't like chicken off the bone, but for chicken that tasted that good, it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It is both indoor and outdoor, yet somehow you couldn't tell it was 100+ degrees Fahrenheit outside. There are plants, water features, even the occasional lizard, which we thought was cool, being from the northern US. We were glad our driver recommended this place, and we look forward to returning next time we are nearby. read more

Imagine someone growing up in a place where ketchup is spicy, vegetables are best when boiled, and all of the sandwiches come on wonder bread. Now imagine what that person would think good Mexican food tastes like. You now have an idea of what to expect at La Mission. It's not bad exactly, the food was generally cooked ok, but all of the good ingredients have been swapped out for something more palatable to our boiled-veggie-loving friends. The lighting is terrible too, cold fluorescents. I can't tell if i'm in a restaurant, an interrogation room, or a halfway house. Touristy but fun. We stopped in here during a downpour on Monday. The service is a touch slow but still reliable. We had chicken burritos and they turned out to exceed expectations! Very juicy and flavorful. Not full of rice and beans. These were served piping hot. We also ordered guacamole and queso fundido. Everything was delicious and fresh. I'd come back for sure. The courtyard is cute with lots of fresh air and beautiful plants. Worth a stop for a nice lunch. read more
