    Halloween themed!
    Ryan T.

Anywhere around this area is tough for parking so find yourself a garage or get a taxi. There's quite a bit of stairs and walking to get there. I'm sure there's an elevator but I'm not sure for folks with ADA or a harder time. At least it was good for my pregnant wife to get her steps in. All the Asian aunties be telling her she needs to WALK WALK WALK. Anyways - we have been here before but we came on Halloween and everything was all themed and hella sick! They were playing old school thriller music with also actually Thriller (MJ ). Staff was super friendly and helpful. We had a heckler which kind of sucked. Some of it was funny but there was a point where it just got annoying and he took it well once the message was received. It's a great spot if you love comedy. I only know of this and Cobb's in the city. I also recommend if you never really go comedy shows, go to the late showing for extra set time. We went at the early showing cuz my preggo baby mama gotta get rest early as we can lmao

My boyfriend and I went to see mark smalls, and the show was great! There is a two-drink minimum per person, and the drink priced aren't cheap! This was definitely the most expensive part of the show as the tickets weren't super pricey! We had a great time, lots of laughs!

Last time I saw Ali Wong before this Tuesday was at the Masonic a couple years ago. So when my friend gifted me his extra ticket to take me to her recent sold-out show at the Punch Line in SF, I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, she came out with all new material.... well kinda... she actually did a Q&A with the audience for half the show. But that's rare and can only be done in an intimate venue like this, so it was just as fun regardless, and something to be appreciated, especially with such a variety of questions asked and the comical responses from the headliner. To the crowd's delight, the event actually ended up being an awesome 3-in-1 deal. Besides the star of the show, we were entertained by the comedic acts of Sheng Wang as her opener, and Bill Hader as a special guest (he and Ali Wong were charming and hilarious together on stage). And the venue was a great setting for all the laughter and excitement on this night. Decent view of the stage from almost anywhere, a full house but not claustrophobic, enough space to feel comfortable. Updated and modern feel, lovely artwork and decor on the walls, good sound system. Service was not the fastest, but I've experienced worse at other comedy clubs, so it was fine. The chicken nachos were not very good, neither the chips nor the toppings were appealing to me. At least my partner was able to eat some of it, though doing so in the dark was a challenge once the show began (no phone lights, as they had a strict "no phone" policy). I did like the mojito I got. Great flavor and not weak in alcohol content, just right. Street parking in the area was easy to find on a Tuesday evening too. Good times :)

This is a great venue to see a comedy show! It's small and intimate. Every seat in the house gives you a great view! They offer food options and there is a two drink minimum that is required for the show. The drinks are pricey but were pretty good. Staff was attentive and the show was really great! Fun place for a date night or a night with friends!

The comedy acts were 10 out of 10 and hilarious. The comedy club is roomy and nice. It seemed secretly located and you had to go up some stairs and then turn a corner. The drinks are tad on the expensive side, for a small high noon it was 15 dollars! But I guess that's how drinks are nowadays. The backdrop is beautiful scenery of San Francisco. Overall good place!

What a fun venue to see a comedy show! Nothing better than eating their Mexican Street Corn Popcorn with lots of laughs. SO GOOD. Even when there's a full house, you really feel like the comedian is talking directly to you. They also do meet-and-greets with the headliner after the show! This is a Live Nation venue, so there's many big names that come here for stand up. Zac Galafanakis, Ali Wong, Dave Chappelle, Jason Leong - to name a few. I came here to see Sabrina Wu and loved every minute of it! With two openers, the show was about 2 hours long. Come early if you don't want to worry about ordering food and drinks during the show. Can be a little disruptive at times.

A lot of amazing comedians have graced the stage here!

Came here recently with friends to see my favorite comedian, Andrea Jin, and we had an absolute blast! This was also my first time at an intimate comedy club, and it was really fun. I'd only been to big arenas for comedy shows in the past. As far as seating goes, we had a fairly large group, but they were able to seat us on the side on a slightly elevated platform, and we had a great view. There's a two drink minimum with admission, which really wasn't a problem with the 2ish hours we were there. I also ordered one of their flatbreads, which was tasty! As far as the show goes, the two openers were really great! And Andrea Jin was amazing! I'm going to see her live again for sure! And the Punch Line was awesome, overall. I'd come back again without question!

It's my first time to the Punchline and I wanted to know how seating works. Is it first come first serve? If the show starts at 8pm what time do you suggest I get there in order to get a seat in he back?

I would suggest getting there around 7:30. When the door staff seats you, you can request a table near the back.

From the photos on the website I was expecting a more spacious venue but in person it's actually quite intimate especially when it's packed with patrons. And there's even a second floor with balcony! Somehow I missed seeing that on the website. We had arrived 30 minutes late but the hosts were super helpful trying to find us seats together. We ended up sharing a small table with another couple near the front. Getting seated with strangers is the norm at comedy shows so I wasn't put off by that. But I wasn't expecting the A/C to be blasting (assumed because everyone is packed in close), so I was glad I brought a hoodie! There is a 2- drink minimum per person but you can order non-alcoholic drinks or food. The menu is not bad. There were the usual items like nachos and chicken strips. I opted for a pretzel and Modelo.. I highly recommend this combo!! The pretzel came out nicely toasted and warm.. and the Modelo was HUGE! Definitely didn't need a second drink after that! All in all, it was a fun first time experience at Cobb's and I would recommend checking it out if you're looking for something to do in the city. Warning: Cobbs Comedy is located in North Beach where parking is hard to find. Free street parking is scarce everywhere in SF but it's particularly painful when you are late to a show in this part of town. So plan accordingly!

I didn't care for the fact that no where online could I find any comedian names beforehand - therefore, I wasn't expecting much. Bought tickets online ($53 for 2 with svc fee) a few weeks in advance. For entry, a woman checked our names off a list then we walked down the flight of stairs that had prohibition era decor. The venue is intimate. Seating is extremely tight (definitely seats less than 100 people). I would suggest that if you go, do NOT sit up front for obvious reasons (like being the subject matter and/or ridiculed), but also because those in front rows were literally spit on (unintentionally of course) by the headliner that raised his voice/yelled as part of his skit - from the side view where we sat and because of the spotlights, we seriously saw the spit travel through the air, land on people who then retracted a bit in shock - we were disgusted, especially in this post-COVID pandemic climate. One of the other comedians stopped his skit and reprimanded those in the audience that were talking - he was so annoyed and wasn't shy about it. We parked in the parking garage across the street, $20 for less than 2 hours wasn't exactly worth it. I wouldn't be against returning as long as there are funny, well known comedians scheduled and marketed - but we won't sit up front :)

The performance is very interactive and unique in that it draws the audience into the illicit behavior of the 1920 era's backroom saloons (think of Great Gatsby etc). You will be notified via text to arrive at a certain place and time with a secret password. Once you find your contact at that location you exchange information and given a location and another password to enter the establishment. This is where the fun begins. The outside of the place has something to be desired of but that is part of the whole appeal. You knock on the door and give the person the password to enter. Once inside the "performances" take place in several locations. The main "stage" has a combination of singing and dancing, as well as, vaudeville acts from that era. The second part of the location contains a "hidden" casino with a roulette, craps, and blackjack tables. The back of the place has a small room which you can view events happening in the changing room and a bar/performance/sitting area in the back. Performers will be interacting in front of you and all around you. It's a wonderful idea and great concept. We reserved a table in the front and watched a show with some wonderful singing, dance numbers, and comedy routines. You may not recognize most of the songs from that time but as the night progresses you will eventually find a few nuggets that you will easily recall hearing from an old movie or television show. I enjoyed listening to all of them and especially enjoyed the rendition of "We have no Banana's Today." I don't believe you could even create or sing that song today as it would offend just about the whole ethnic makeup of SF but the tongue and cheek performance was absolutely marvelous! We then moved to the back where we went to the "casino" room. I blew everything on black and when the ball landed on red we made our way to the back room. The back contains a small stage with a piano, bar, and sitting room. In the sitting room actors will be having conversations with each other and events will be taking place that creates the whole atmosphere of the speakeasy. Keep in mind that so much is happening around you that you can not possibly see and experience everything. That's part of the appeal of the show is that each person sees things differently and not everybody catches the whole storyline. I will not give too much away other than it was a wonderful evening and something I would highly recommend to others. I would suggest coming to the show in period attire as it helps create the mood of what you are about to see and experience. The performance is about a time and place long forgotten but part of our American History. It is presented in way that draws you into that era of dancing girls, booze and all.
