I have been to the Pulsation Yoga in Lake Zurich twice now for the amazing Healing Sound Baths with Gaby & Marian of Delamora Life. It is such a beautiful and relaxing yoga studio. We did find out information from the manager of the studio in regards to different types of yoga classes and events that they are offering. I have been to Pulse three times for the All Levels class with Susan on Sundays. I've really enjoyed all of the classes. As someone who has practiced yoga for years, I think Susan does a great job with how she leads and explains and the way she incorporates a nice variety of moves. Susan's cues have helped me to adjust and improve many of my own poses that I've been practicing for years. Each time, I have left feeling relaxed and recharged. Have wanted to try yoga for years but was intimidated. So I put on my big girl leggings and, after research, chose Pulsation Yoga because it's also a teacher training facility--meaning their owners/instructors are model practitioners who hold themselves to the highest bar. Well, I'm 6 weeks in and completely hooked. My wellbeing took a giant leap instantly, and now I'm enjoying newfound strength, balance, flexibility, peace, and natural pain relief. As a long-time teacher trainer, I can attest to the fact that every instructor at Pulsation is highly-skilled in the art of instruction, as well as incredibly welcoming and well-rounded in their knowledge of all aspects of yoga, from philosophy to pose. And yet each is clearly still an eager student of the art, always evolving their own practice. I've relished my time with Sandy, Elizabeth, and Susan, all of whom are warm mentors and supportive guides across an array of classes for all skill levels (I seriously knew nothing, and now I can "flow" through classes with growing confidence). I have been doing yoga on and off for 15 years, and I feel so warmly welcomed and supported at Pulsation. Recently, I've had a great experience in Susan's level 1-2 class. She applied zero pressure while still being so empowering. I was even able to do poses I thought I wouldn't be able to do, thanks to guidance from Susan and props! This is an excellent venue for a yoga class with a large area for a large number of participants. The teacher for my most recent class was Dana, who gave us a perfects class that flowed together from easy to challenging positions. I have practiced yoga for two decades and count Dana among the best teachers I have experienced. The music she chose was perfect for the class, more meditative and not obtrusive. read more

I happened to log onto the website to find they were offering a free holiday class on the Friday night before the holidays, so some friends and I tried it out, and we loved it so much that we all bought class packages. Today I took the new Full Body class lead by Elizabeth. It was amazing. Elizabeth was very knowledgeable and kind. There was absolutely no judgement. Recently had my first yoga class at Pulsation. I used to live in the area and was in town visiting family and in need of a good yoga class. So happy I went. Kathy the owner gave me the most heartfelt welcome, I felt instantly included in this wonderful community. The other students were also so positive and friendly. The studio is clean and gorgeous, I could tell a lot of love went into its creation. The class was suitable for all levels and even though I had a couple injuries, Kathy led me through safely with modifications. Can't wait to go back next time around. Fantastic Yoga Community that offers a wide variety of classes taught by a dedicated group of top notch instructors. While the studio offers a variety of classes ranging from Basic to Levels 1 and 2, I have found that all of their classes are designed to challenge both the beginner and advanced practitioner alike. As a beginner, I found the studio environment to be very welcoming, accepting and encouraging (which is very important for us "newbies". I also like the fact that instructors are willing to take the time to offer modifications for those students with physical ailments or limitations so they can get the most out of their practice. I started on my yoga journey a little less than a year ago and was searching around for a studio where I could learn from knowledgeable, yet encouraging, teachers. I had so many questions and was looking for a place where I would feel welcomed and accepted into the community. I looked around, tried a few different places, but the studios I tried felt a bit judgmental, even cold, towards a rookie like me. It wasn't met with an obvious hostility, but more of a subtle skepticism, almost as if they weren't sure I could cut it. I felt a little put off and a tad discouraged but kept trying different places. And then, I stumbled upon Pulsation. I was immediately greeted by Alison, one of the three owners, with a bright smile and a warm welcome. She asked me my name and my background with yoga, and I told her that I was a beginner looking to learn. She told me that I had found the right place, and I believed her. She was genuine, warm, and upbeat, and I learned a lot in my first class with her. She made hands-on adjustments (asking me beforehand), and encouraged questions and feedback, making sure nothing felt "off". When a pose finally "clicked", she - along with the rest of the class - were genuinely excited for me. I was hooked (mainly because of how encouraged I felt by all the feedback I received). After a while, I asked Alison about other classes I could try, even inquiring about her Level 2 class on Sundays. At no point did I get the feeling that I wasn't "allowed" to attend a more advanced class. In fact, she encouraged me to try any class that I wanted, citing how great each teacher was at modifying and adapting for each individual student. I have now been going to Pulsation for a little over half a year, and I have tried many of their teachers and classes. The teachers are incredible. Susan and Sandy, the other two owners, are equally awesome as Alison, and the three of them make Pulsation's energy and community what it is. They have brought so many interesting and diverse workshops into the studio, ranging from yoga for golfers, yoga and wine, partner yoga, gong therapy, kids yoga, headphone yoga with DJ Taz Rashid, workshops for all sorts of specific skills with world renowned teachers, and so much more. Each teacher I have tried has helped me in their own way with their unique teaching style and personality. Nadiya's Tuesday and Wednesday classes have taught me so much about myself and my potential. Sheila, Kat, Dana, Lin (Yin class), Megan and Amy are among my other favorites. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the wonderful community of yogis and yoginis at Pulsation. They are the most wonderful and positive group of people to be around. Yoga is not easy, and it takes a certain degree of vulnerability to attend a class. But everyone is so encouraging and supportive. No matter what you can - or can't - do, you are welcomed in and made to feel like a part of the community. And that really speaks to what Pulsation is all about. They care about each of their students, whether you are a beginner or veteran, a visitor or regular....whether you are young or old, male or female....whether you can twist yourself into a pretzel or you can't. If you are seeking to deepen your practice and have an open heart, I wholeheartedly recommend that you try Pulsation. I found Kathy and Jim to be extremely warm and open. I have bad knees and was recommended, as a yoga beginner, to start with the restorative class. Contrary to the negative review, in the four classes I attended, I saw recommended accommodations for my knees, a woman with scoliosis, and a pregnant woman. I took the therapeutic class once and never again. The teacher (also the owner) thinks she knows your body better than you do. If something hurts and she wants you to do it her way and you can't, you're persona non grata. You're left feeling like you are not valued or cared about. Not every pose works for everybody and she should should not try to judge what hurts her students bodies and what does not. She needs to get off of her high horse and be more understanding. read more
