I was referred to this office for wisdom tooth removal and had a deeply disappointing experience…read more During my consultation, I provided my insurance information and specifically asked the staff to obtain a pre-authorization from my insurer outlining all costs before I agreed to schedule. I was told my out-of-pocket cost would be $250, so I proceeded based on that assurance. After the surgery was completed, I unexpectedly received an additional bill for about $300. When I called to ask why, the employee I spoke with was abrupt and unprofessional. Instead of helping clarify the charge, she pointed to fine print in a signed form and immediately threatened to send me to collections within 10 days if I didn did not pay. I ultimately paid the collections bill to protect my credit, but the situation could have been avoided with honest communication. When I called again, the office manager admitted they never actually pursued the pre-authorization I had requested. I was then told their standard practice is to estimate or "guesstimate" costs based on prior experience with insurers rather than confirm coverage in advance. That approach is not transparent and directly contradicts what I was told before scheduling. Although the manager apologized and accepted responsibility, the office refused to refund my payment after checking with corporate. I also developed a post-surgical complication. Because of this office's limited hours, I had to return to my original dentist for care. My dentist found broken tooth fragments pushing through my gums that had been missed during surgery, requiring additional treatment. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to seek resolution. Even after the office manager had taken blame, the practice actively battled the BBB report. Only after the case was closed did they finally acknowledge their error. That resistance to accountability was extremely frustrating. I chose this office solely because I was given clear cost information that turned out to be only an estimate rather than the verified authorization I requested. Accurate communication about billing is essential in healthcare, and that responsibility rests with the provider. Based on misleading pricing, inadequate follow-up care, and poor accountability, I cannot recommend this practice.

No pleasantries, no evidence of kindness or caring. After filling out all of the duplicate paperwork, I was told I needed an xray. I had just had X-rays taken at my regular dentist within the last 2 months. I have extreme difficulty with X-rays, on a normal basis. But with the way the machine was setup, it was too high. I could not tolerate it! I felt I was choking. I told the tech (?) she told me that I wasn't choking. I HAD to do this xray. I told her I could not physically do it, couldn't they get my xray from the referring dentist. She looked to the front office where someone was shaking their head and saying "no." The"tech" said we would have to reschedule. I had been here 2 hours already filling out paperwork without seeing the surgeon at all. Not coming back ever! I don't have to. I will definitely find another oral surgeon, that hopefully cares or at least can pretend with the patients. The whole situation was uncomfortable, cruel, unappealing and uncomfortable. And I didn't even get to meet the surgeon...

I spoke to someone several times the day before my appointment, was reassured that all information was obtained, and that I was speaking to an individual at the location I was to be seen. Only to arrive to my appointment, not once, but twice to be told that I needed to be rescheduled because they didn't receive a verbal confirmation. I don't understand why it has to be so confusing to confirm an appointment and it was just super inconvenient.

For the first procedure they said it would take about 45 min to an hour and we were there for almost 5 hours. Second time they said I had to stay in the building with the patient and we were not prepared for that. Did not tell us before hand and I certainly was not asked to stay in the building the first time. They still haven't fit the patient for their bottom dentures and it's been 8 months. This place is backwards. Always calling asking for patient to reschedule appointment and they aren't prepared. For the cost of their services you'd think they'd be more professional. I will not recommend Aspen dental!

Not an honest dentistry, I must say. This is so the dentistry can pump you and the insurance company for as much money as possible. It's the name of the game in health care today and everyone knows it. Another thing they do is tell you that insurance will cover things that will not be covered. They are completely misleading with a waiver form and they know this. Dr. Church plays that game with patients. He never really fixed the problem I first came in for. So, three visits later and I am still waiting in line to get work done. This is a great example of why the health care system in America is broken. It's all about maximin cash. It's NOT about the patent. So, don't let them push scaling and polishing and all kinds of other routine garbage on you. They gave me a cock and bull story about how scaling will prevent inflection when we do the actual work you wanted, etc. Dr. Church is a bit of a con man if you ask me. He pushes treatment that you may not need. He knows this, but of course will never admit it. Reputable dentists in foreign countries never do this to you!!!

While my hygienist and Dr. Church are both excellent--professional, kind, and thorough--the front office staff is consistently rude. Their demeanor is very curt and dismissive, which has left me feeling unwelcome and undervalued as a patient. It was not always this way. Their unprofessionalism makes for an unpleasant experience. I recently referred my elderly mother to this office, our experience with front staff was once again less than desirable - very disappointing. A dental practice should provide great care AND excellent customer service, but the front desk is failing in that regard. I hope management takes steps to improve this. I do wonder if they would allow their front staff to be this unprofessional if they were located in Carmel or Geist.
