I love supporting a local shop like Puffy Cream when things are hard for small businesses like they are during this pandemic. Puffy made the necessary changes to help keep customers and workers safe while still serving the great donuts and treats that Eaganites have come to expect from them. The Saturday morning I went, I showed up early to beat the crowd, and that was a great plan. Puffy Cream has implemented a policy of only 2 customers inside at a time and a see through pane of plexi next to the cash wrap to protect both parties. I ended up ordering a little bit of everything. I especially enjoyed the chocolate cream filled and the cruller. Absolutely some of the best donuts in the cities. This donut shop is easy to find right of of Yankee Doodle. Opens at 5 am in the morning, so you can drop by before you go to work! My favorite donut is their chocolate glazed cinnamon roll. You will not be disappointed I promise! But really, I haven't had a donut here that I haven't liked. They are so fluffy and taste delicious. Oh my god!! Why is this donut shop not ranked among the best in the twin cities? Made a run just this morning to grab some Saturday morning donuts for the family, and was shocked at the gem I had found. They didnt have a ton of variety, but what they did have was fantastic. First off, the apple fritter I got might be the best one I have ever had. It was HUGE, crispy on the outside, soft in the middle, lots of cinnamon and apple flavor, not overpoweringly sweet, but nicely balanced. No apple pie filling goo to fall on your shirt. And unlike a lot of fritters, it had a savory aspect to it because you could taste the buttery fried goodness of the fritter rather than having that element drowned out by buckets of oversweet glaze. Outstanding donuts executed perfectly. If you want donuts with oreos and fruity pebbles and snicker bars and candy corn sticking out of them all over, this isnt the spot for you. But if you want an awesome box of perfect donuts done right, definitely check this place out. The inside is pillow soft and the outside has a slight crust - never soggy or sad. I recently tried their cake donuts and it blew my mind. Now I have a hard time not ordering multiple donuts just for myself because they're all so good. I drive from Minneapolis, passing other donut shops on the way, just to get their donuts. I really liked the raised glazed donuts from Puffy Cream, they were among the best. I'm always searching for a good raised glazed. I got a few others, the glazed cinnamon twists were good too, and I haven't tried the cake donuts yet. They also threw in a bunch of donut holes for me. When I did find it, the sign on the strip mall lists it as Donut Plus or something like that, but the signage on the door says Puffy Cream. Also there is only one entrance into the strip mall, near the Gulf station so I had to make a U-turn after turning onto Yankee Doodle. Not a big deal, just info to prepare yourself. The place is cute, it reminds me of the donut shops we used to go to when I was a kid. A couple cases of donuts, a cooler with some drinks, a couple of tables, and donuts that don't cost $3 a piece and come in trendy, gourmet flavors. They have a nice selection of doughnuts and looks like other items too, but I was there for the doughnuts. I ordered a dozen to go including an apple fritter for myself. The ladies working were friendly and quick. The cost was very affordable, I was handed my boxes and off I went. I made it to my car before I had to open the box. Inside my box of glory were a few doughnut holes that the ladies must of added as a complimentary treat. I took this opportunity to taste a couple. They were light and tasty which made me hope they were lower in calories. Yeah right! Once I got to work I had to get some of that apple fritter. This might be the biggest apple fritter I have ever seen It's about the size of a manhole cover. I really didn't want to like this as I really love the apple fritters at Granny's in WSP. Well as I continued to pull off more pieces, the proof was in the result. That was a darn good fritter. Crispy on the edges yet soft on the inside. Plenty of apples and cinnamon in there too. I was greeted by two smiling faces, even though there was a short line.
