We stopped by here twice on our tour of Chichen Itza. The staff when we were walking through the gift shop were very overbearing. I was trying to talk to my husband about things while a sales associate was right on our tail to suggest more things for us to buy that we had no interest in. The food buffet when we came back was okay. There were limited options and only one dish stood out as being tasty was the shredded pork. They had two different groups of dancers who danced for maybe two minutes and then went around asking for tips. Then the server came back around telling everyone that the dancer tips and server tips are separate. On my tour from Cancun to Chichen Itza, we actually came here twice. It was our first stop to buy souvenirs before heading the Mayan Ruins and after that, we returned here again, for lunch. It's a rather large space with many different souvenirs, at a somewhat decent rate. I wound up buying an overpriced pack of six Mexican Tequilas to give to some of my colleagues and some candy for my daughter. The staff here wasn't overbearing but they stand close by and swoop in to give you a ticket with their name-- I guess to receive credit for the sale, although they provided absolutely no assistance. When we came for lunch, the lines were a little confusing because people were just standing all over the place. Finally, when we did get our food, I only wanted rice and black beans, both of which were good. If you want to know the definition of a tourist trap, Pueblo Maya is it. A mediocre buffet spot at high prices for Yucatan food. It's definitely got a lot of flashy decor and a MASSIVE gift shop at the exit which just tells me that this is way too fake for me. The regional foods are SO mid. After having food in Mérida this place is a downgrade from the food there. Their huevos con Chaya was so bad. I have to say there are better options than this. To say that this food is authentic is insulting to Mexican food I'm not going to lie. The only plus side was that the staff were nice so I'll give a star for that. But nothing was memorable from the food. I guess a lot of people come here because it's so close to Chichen Itza, but definitely wait til you're back in town for much better food tbh. read more

Very mediocre food. This is supposed to be and "international buffet" but their selection is slim. Their "desserts" are not it. They have a Women making tortillas and those are pretty good. But you are paying $14 per person and that doesn't include drinks. Overall, I would not recommend it. read more

The place looks nice and promising, however, the food choices are very limited. Cochinita was extremely salty, we could not eat it. Everything else was stale and flavorless. Agua fresca was artificial from concentrate. Not worth the price. Bad service. I do not recommend this place. read more

This place is pretty sweet and loved the culture they express. We came here because of our tour . this joint is located conveniently near the mayan pyramid .. we came here before to purchase some gifts and then came back to have lunch and we had to pass through the gift shop again. I was very happy they closed the gift shop at the time of the day when all the people came back just to eat. It was great to see that they didn't want to take advantage of us and just feed us with great food after a veery long and inspiring day at the Mayan Yucatán Historical site, we came here the ambiance was super friendly and attentive the staff at Puebla maya catered to our needs. The regional food was delicious ! It was awesome that they had 2 types of cusines being served ! Regional and internacional . I didn't take anything international as I was truly there to try out the local food . Mmmm I had the fried bean dish it was just amazing fresh and fullnof authentic Yucatán flavours. ThE tacos were traditionally prepared in a steamer woow the taco was soft and deeeelicious. The chicken was a bit dry but I loved the pulled pork on my taco con salsa Habanero the 3rd most spicieest salsaa in the world. Muy muyy picante I needed some water right away ahaha I had their homemade lime soup very delicious the broth was super flavourful All of the food was prepared locally and homemade It was all included with the price of our tour so we did not have to pay extra for the food The only thing that I did not like is paying for water the food was included but not the drinks. I believe water should be included but they do charge you for anything you want to drink even water bottle as you're probably paying for the bottle itself. The prices are not too expensive for drinks around 2 to 4 $ per drink per person. Sus bebidas estaban muy frías, así que realmente me gustó !! Overall, pretty awesome food and we also had mariachi chicas entertaining us and dancing while we eat our lunch . Wonderful vibe at Pueblo Maya definitely recommend taking the tour with the buffet included as you will be brought here to dine. read more

Pueblo Maya is one of the buffet food lunches near Chichen Itza serving multiple tour companies. The server team are nice, the setting is comfortable, and the short traditional dance performance displays real skill. The food tho... The local regional cuisine was ok including Huevo con Chaya (Scambled Eggs with Chaya) and Cochinita Pibil (Yucatecan-style Pork). Stick to this station because the international cuisine was terrible. My favorite was probably the simple Codzitos (Fried Tortillas) as a base for the pork with quest. Drinks like a cold Cerveza or local Chaya Margarita all cost extra. You're on vacation and riding around in a tour bus, so, why not cool down and chill out at the same time. Pueblo Maya is ok. Since you'll be on a tour and won't have any say in where you go for lunch, at least, you get to have a say in what buffet food you eat. The options aren't great, but choose wisely and have a cold drink before heading to the next tourist destination. read more

This was my second time on this tour, and thus, this restaurant, and I was sorely disappointed. Though their entertainment, food choices and seating arrangements remained the same, I felt that the quality of their food had decreased. Their soup was ok, but most of their dishes looked unappetizing that day. Taste was whatever- didn't shout "authentic" but also wasn't terrible. I usually fall back on spaghetti as it's simple to make and I love it, but their spaghetti simply tasted like cooked noodles and tomato paste. Staff was very, very nice and friendly. I would never choose to come here as a restaurant destination. read more

Pueblo Maya is a unique restaurant & craft markets located just minutes from Chichen Itza. Pueblo Maya offers something for everyone from shopping, swimming, and authentic Yucatecan & Mexican cuisine. I first stopped at Pueblo Maya on my way to Chichen Itza and browsed the local craft market, which consists of seven unique shops selling authentic Mexican crafts, jewelry, and clothing. All products are made in Mexico by locals. I ended up purchasing several items at a reasonable value, credit cards are accepted here, however the Peso is preferred! After visiting Chichen Itza, I was ready for lunch so we headed back to Pueblo Maya for their lunch buffet, which served up some delicious local food, however I wouldn't go as far as calling the entire buffet authentic. Although there are some unique dishes like the Soupa De Lima, which is a delicious Lime Soup. In addition to the standard Mexican cuisine they also serve up some more "international" dishes like cheeseburgers and pasta, for those less adventurous. A must try is their Chaya Tea, which is made from leaves of the Chaya tree, its wonderfully refreshing and can be prepared in a number of ways. In addition to the food and shopping you can relax after your meal in one of the hammocks and enjoy the botanical garden featuring many local plants, have a drink at the bar, or cool off with a dip in their pool. Changing rooms are available too. Overall Pueblo Maya was a great stop that offered a great insight into the Mayan culture that is still alive today! read more

On our way to Chichen Itza we were taken to this little place off the side of the road to have lunch. They clearly cater towards the tourists but honestly they don't disappoint! We happened to get an all you can eat selection where you can go up to the food bar as many times as you like. They had tamales, rice, frijoles, tacos with cochinita pibil and chicken as well. All of it was tasty and great. They had a nice array of drinks. Skip the ice cream. It was more like frozen ice. They happen to also be connected to a huger Mexican bazaar of souvenirs which we are told the highest quality of things that you see elsewhere. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here! read more

Little stop on a tour of chichen it za. The food was average and the souvenirs seemed of good quality. I wish I could tell you that the prices were reasonable but I didn't really shop around. I picked up a few things there and nowhere else. I advise you to shop around. Just say that it's to pricey and they'll start giving whatever % off. Double check their math though. read more
