On our way to an event in Winston, we missed lunch and were both getting a bit hangry, so needing a quick stop but not wanting fast food we decided to pop into Publix for a one of their subs! If you've never been or heard about their subs, they're definitely worth checking out. Made fresh, in front of you using premium ingredients, and made just how you want it, they give sub shops a lot to stand up to. After a quick review of the menu we ordered the Sweet Bo's Chicken Philly. The guy helping us in the deli didn't hold back, didn't skimp on the ingredients and made it perfectly cheesy even toasting it twice until it was exactly as we wanted. After checking out we decided to stop in to their small cafe area to eat quickly as we could see it was juicy and didn't want to make a mess eating it in the car. The sandwich was absolutely delicious with lots of chopped chicken, bell peppers, mushrooms and we switched from American cheese to provolone...it absolutely hit the spot and curbed our hanger. I'd never stoped at this public before, but would again, it was very well kept and clean, and I'd definitely get this sandwich again given the opportunity! read more

Publix has my favorite olive bar, hands down. I love getting the stuffied prosciutto peppers from this place. They are always jumbo, juicy, and so tasty. Pricy for sure but worth it! Their other olive selections - greek style, mixed with feta, and lemon based, plus their seasoned mushrooms are also delicious. On weekends, they usually have tastings which makes shopping much more fun. And as a perks member, I do get treats for my birthday, half birthday, and anniversary, as well as decent $2 ff $10 coupons occasionally. Service is always polite and speedy, which I appreciate. Bonus points to this location for having EV charging available. Can be nice to juice up while shopping. read more

I don't intend to convince you, dear reader, that the $5 sushi options available at Publix on Wednesdays are life-changing. But these rolls are still better than they ought to be for five bucks. Honestly, though, that's pretty representative of all the Publix-made food items I've tried. While none of them will blow a person's mind, they are surprisingly good. And if you have an eye keen for deal hunting, you can generally find something worth eating for a surprisingly reasonable price. Deli sandwiches, prepared salads, hot bar items, etc. My encounters with staff have always been positive, and they seem to keep the store clean and neat. This is my very least favorite Publix location in the area - the entire area is congested, getting in and out of the parking lot is often a hazard, as is walking across the lot to the store - there often is a collection of special fools amassed here! I was in the area so I popped in here to grab a sub, and they do make great subs, with everything fresh. I ordered am1/2 Chicken Salad and 1/2 Tuna ($6.09 each) and they were quickly ready. Both subs were very good, fresh tasting with a great crusty roll. I might order either again, though I feel their meat and cheese & their veggie subs are a touch better. read more

I was at Publix on Miller street and I had a wonderful person helping. I should of gotten her name but she has long brown and gray hair and wears glasses. She was absolutely wonderful she helped me find all of my items and was patient with me. She stayed with me the whole time and it's because of her that I was able to find everything and still make it back on time to work. Loved Publix when we lived in Florida many years ago. We like the 8 pc box of fried chicken which they put on special often. The 20 pc box of non- breaded wings is really good too. The meat and seafood counter is a step above the other grocery stores. They also have an above average bakery. They also carry Tim Horton's coffee and have two for one specials on occasion. I moved to town in July and have been to this Publix about 8-9 times. I go back because of location, selection, and price. The cashiers and baggers are consistently less helpful, more distracted, and not as good at bagging in comparison to Lowes, WF, TJs, Fresh Market, and HT. I dislike the parking and elevator setup, but often encounter friendly and helpful other patrons. Honestly, I like a few special items at the Whole Foods, but can't get everything, or don't always like the prices, so Publix is where I go afterward. I plan to get in the habit of sticking to TJs, with FM as my backup. I get too annoyed at this Publix. read more

As a grocery store, I really love this Publix! Plenty of parking, great service, great variety of produce, and it is very well kept and clean inside. I've always had a great experience coming here for fresh product. My partner got me a birthday cake from their bakery and unfortunately I was very disappointed. He got me a red velvet cake. The frosting was so thick and sweet, I think it made up to 30% of the actual cake. The red velvet cake was very dense and dry. I'm not sure if I would ever give their bakery a try again. read more

Ordered baked chicken tenders platter (small, $31.99) from the app. It's says fresh baked and chilled with your choice of sauce. I picked up my order and proceed home. I open the foil container and the chicken was caked in seasoning. So much seasoning and rosemary especially, it was too much! I like heavy seasoning , but this took it to another level. The chicken was also over cooked and very dry. I called and talked to the catering manager and he basically said, that's how they season it and its a secret blend. No effort on their part to make it right, I'm left with 3 pounds of chicken that isn't edible. Won't be ordering or shopping at Publix. Expected more from this chain grocery store. read more

This is a super nice Publix! It's two floors, and has a parking garage as well as a Starbucks. I came in search of the holiday Pub Sub. I was slightly disappointed with the staff members at the deli as they didn't seem to understand what I wanted when I said I wanted the Cranberry Turkey Sub the way it came despite there being signage for it all around. I like to have my order in mind ahead of time so that there's no surprises, and I figured that was sufficient information to give them. They were out of a few of the toppings like bacon strips and Gruyère cheese, the substitutions they made didn't make much of a difference. They could've been a little friendlier though, as they seemed to make way too many assumptions as if I'd already shopped here before (he just gave me my sub without telling me where to pay for it? I found it shortly after, but I thought you paid there). But overall, the sub tasted great and was exactly what I wanted. I'm super happy that they sell the cranberry orange relish in tubs so I can make my own next time. read more

I love Publix. I especially love their exhaustive wine selection. Unfortunately, they were sold out of Cristal, and at $288.88 a bottle, I could see why! So I settled and ended up going for a $9.88 bottle of plum wine that went with our sushi dinner quite well. This location in particular I found to be a little confusing, as you have to go up an elevator to the second floor in order to enter the actual grocery store. Workers were very friendly and helpful there, but I think they could use an attendant in that elevator to tell me when it's safe to get in and out. Maybe that person got furloughed during the pandemic? Seriously though, I do enjoy the varied selection of Publix in general. Their prices aren't the best, but they do have some things I've noticed that aren't in other stores. I prefer the Clemmons location for convenience, but this location is good too! read more

It's Publix what's not to love about the Pub of fresh and quality groceries. The customer service at this location was rotten and piss poor today. The gentleman with the beard at the deli was refreshing he sliced the meat I asked for perfectly. The "Aggressive" lady making my sub was another subject she was very aggressive and shady in the process of making my sub. She was not welcoming to start her coworker asked her why was she so aggressive. I wish he had made my sub he was very friendly. He walked away before I got my order in dang it. I'm going to have to bless my food the energy she and the register ladies had made me want to leave everything at the register. I'll pay anything for decent customer service today it wasn't worth it. I asked for the manager, since he was not dressed as other store managers were, and with a poor attitude told me He was the Manager, (meat department). Another manager came over and didn't even give me the opportunity to ask my question but dismissed me and was no help. This is THEE best Publix I've EVER been to. I mean it's HUGE with a indoor parking garage and more. I'm not a BIG Publix person as I have certain things I'd get from Publix and most other things I get from my favorite places. I liked this place so much I came back 3 times in 2 days to see those friendly faces as well as to experience that amazing customer service while exploring the many aisles. I found things that I never saw in our Publix in Charlotte like their VEGAN chip section which by the way the Beet chips are AWESOME. My husband like the subs made fresh from Publix with the Boars head meat. I went to grab him one for lunch to take to him at our hotel before heading back to my meeting and the staff in the deli were so delightful. They made the sub with a smile and even made me a Vegan Veggie wrap that I had no idea existed. The young lady told me to go grab whatever Hummus off the shelf that I would like and she put it on a gluten free Vegan spinach wrap and topped with many fresh veggies for me. Publix has finally arrived to Winston-Salem! I had never been in a Publix before, but since there was so much hype about this one opening I knew I had to check it out. Everyone who has ever lived in Florida and relocated to NC seemed to be having the best day ever yesterday. As one would expect on opening day the place was a mob scene. I love that they have a parking garage, really smart use of the space. The exterior of the building is super modern which I think is neat for a grocery store. Let's talk about those elevators from the parking deck. 1. They are bigger than the elevators at Ikea. 2. They are really nice, with the employee manning them you feel like you are getting on a ride. When you first walk in they have their fresh first setup, meaning all the fresh produce and their in house food stations are what you see first. I ordered some of their sushi for dinner and it was quite good. The spicy tuna roll had huge chunks of tuna and was reasonably priced at $9. The hot bar looked tasty and the deli had quite the line. The deli had a subway-esq setup. The bread looked really delicious. Once you get past their fresh first section the rest of the super market is pretty standard. Although I will say they have a huge meat department, bigger than any of the other area supermarkets. Like the delicious red meat cases just seemed to go on and on! The seafood counter also looked really fresh and had a good variety. On opening day they had every single register open as well as self checkout so we were out of there in five minutes. The key to Publix seems to be their ridiculously friendly staff and they definitely did not disappoint. read more

I ordered the Birthday Sprinkle Explosion with chocolate cake and pink buttercream icing and I swear it was the best cake I have ever eaten! I find myself here only for 1 or 2 items that I can't find anywhere else and that's a great brand of beet juice and a brand of turkey I like in the deli section. I may have come here a total of 4x since it's been open and I can't seem to find myself wanting to go back. The convenience of having a parking garage may come in handy on rainy days but if it's raining I'm typically not going to go to the grocery store anyways. The produce on display and the products on each aisle is always immaculate and in order. Seems like they spend A LOT of time on presentation, maybe that's why the prices are so high. I can typically buy a whole pineapple at other stores for under $3, not on sale. I've seen pineapple here priced at $5.99!! How can anyone justify paying this much?? They have a big selection of food as soon as you walk in, such as a fresh salad bar, sushi, fried chicken, sandwich shop, etc. I've tried a few of their public brand cereal. Was not impressed. The frosted shredded wheat tasted oddly like plastic, very weird texture. I ended up returning it. There is a Starbucks located inside if you're in to that. If your sensitive to smells there is no avoiding the off gas smell when you first walk in. Smells like rubber. I purposely walk up the flight of stairs so I don't have to smell it any longer than I have to. The smell in the elevator is very strong. Some people love this place, but I can't see why. As far as grocery stores go. This seems like a blend of IKEA and you general run of the mill grocery store. It doesn't have a ton of selections in their "hot bar" so it's no Whole Foods, but it makes up for that by having a larger array of items to take home and make. A giant meat department, seems to be their highlight. This is probably the only grocery store I have been where the workers out numbered the people shopping. Prices were about average for the area, with various items on sale or buy one get one. Apparently there is no loyalty program with this chain. As for the negatives, it was crowded, but it's new so I expected that. The prices seemed high for a sandwich from the deli, though they did load it up whatever you wanted, so that was a plus. They also don't have the ability to use your phone to pay (Android Pay, Samsung Pay etc). The employees bring your cart to your car, and load up your groceries, which was a little weird, but not a bad thing. Overall, a good experience, but not a place to go in for quick item in/out type of deal. read more

I have to say I really, really like this store!...I come from another state ( Wisconsin) been here 6 years, and where I come from the food is a delicious bakery, deli, warm foods ...at most all of the grocery stores, not so much here. But Publix, yes finally a store that has good service, friendly and knowledgeable, polite...but the food, yes the warm foods, are soooo good! and this bakery is the first that is equal to if not slightly better than my home town bakeries. I used to shop here when I lived in Florida and was really excited to discover that we now had one in little ole Winston-Salem! I waited a few weeks though to let the crowds die down. It is a great store with a really modern approach to grocery shopping, but it is also more than a grocery store. A coffee shop, sandwich shop, ice cream parlor, mini wine shop, etc. One of the best things though is the fact that Public doesn't require you to have one of those little "MVP" cards to get the best price. All born-and-raised Floridians know the Publix culture. This store has a monopoly on the grocery industry where I'm from, so for years it was practically all I knew. (Sure, poor ol' Winn-Dixie has tried to have a lock on the market, no pun intended, but everyone knows whenever a Publix gets built down the road or across the street, another Winn-Dixie store meets its kismet. I've seen it happen twice!) Okay. So what makes Publix so special? Well, apart from the cleanliness and beautiful architecture of the store, and the first-rate service you get, I can't think of any other store that carries its own brand that is actually better than the national brand -- cookies, first aid, milk, soda, you name it! The produce section is fresher and more varied than most, as well. And of course, the bakery and deli are like no other. In the bakery, everything is baked on the daily and tastes fresh for days. Where else can you get top-notch Cuban bread, unless you're at a Vicky Bakery in South Florida? Publix also carries amazing Hispanic foods you otherwise wouldn't find in the Triad or any other place in North Carolina, like arepas in the frozen food section. I never thought I'd be having an arepa in North Carolina, unless it was at the annual Puerto Rican festival in Charlotte! Publix is also the ultimate in customer service. You'd be hard-pressed to find a Publix employee who wasn't happy working for this company (though I'm sure it does happen). Why? Because the workplace dynamic is familial. This company prides itself on its work family, and rightly so. It is part of the culture here. Long after employees stop working at Publix, they remain loyal as customers. They know as shoppers, they won't get the same experience with any other company. It is my favorite grocery store and I'm happy to see it expand with more stores being built throughout the south. Forget about Food Lion. Forget about Harris Teeter. For a first-rate shopping experience, this is where you want to go. read more

Throughout the store, cheerful employees are readily available. It's a store that aims to please and is off to a successful start. As I was only in briefly, I can't speak for prices as a whole. However, one comparison I made was for organic egg whites ($6.69). I'll be better served purchasing those across the street. Still, it may balance out after finding sales.
