I adore Publix for so many reasons. I hadn't realized that when you sign up - you get a beautiful cake on your birthday and others things such as giving you a flower bouquet. I didn't know any of this when I first started shopping there. I always go there for their fruit & yogurt parfaits and my dog Lexi - loves the Paul Newman jerky. treats. Publix is the only place that I know of that sells them. I also love just how fresh & clean it is when you walk in. Everyone is so very friendly. Store is always clean. Employees are always friendly. I had an awkward/rude experience a few months ago at pharmacy and that person is no longer there. Today I had a special experience. One of the cashiers that I have seen many times before had someone helping bag groceries. She clearly has autism. She did a great job and was very friendly. I could see that the cashier was a little uncomfortable and I think she may had seen some strange reactions. I think both need some recognition. read more

This Publix location is pretty decent. There are a few things that I have been looking for here that I cannot seem to find (i.e. freeze dried fruit). Otherwise, all of the employees I have interacted with have been friendly and helpful, to include the butchers in the back. Publix is typically a nicer, more cleanly chain grocery store, in which you can typically also find a larger selection of some items that you may not be able to find at your 'regular grocer'. For example, their international foods section is decently expansive, and there are lots of options there. At the same time, Publix isn't the greatest grocery store I've ever been to, and this one is definitely not the best one I've been to, for that matter. But still good! read more

I can not express my shock and gratitude towards the deli counter at this location. Lexxy and Kendra are amazing! My sister has a gluten allergy. She gets horribly sick when she even slightly consumes gluten. These fantastic women cleaned sanitized and prepared lunch meats and cheeses for her to make sure she is safe! My fiancee and I regularly shop at this Publix, likely every other day, and have almost never had any issues. I've shopped at this location ever since it first opened up after previously being an Albertsons. However after the experience we had at Publix today I don't know if I'll ever go back. Today (02/17/20, approximately 3:30PM Central) while in the parking lot of our local Publix (9251 University Pkwy, Pensacola, FL 32514) we were snapping a few cute pictures and were immediately harassed by the cart boy demanding that we can't take photos, and that we'll have to delete them. He then began to rave under his breath at my fiancee. I took my own photo at which point he began to approach me menacingly, leading me and my fiancee to enter our car and leave. I'm still in vague shock that something like this happened at our (formerly) favorite grocery store. Almost all Publix employees we've encountered have been outgoing and helpful to the extreme. Unfortunately this experience has colored our opinion negatively and we will likely no longer frequent this store and will advise our friends and family of the same. read more

Deli Review: So my fiance hyped me up about how good Publix's deli was so last night we decided to go at around 6. The deli seemed to be almost out of food despite not closing for a few more hours, but it was fine. They had what I wanted. I ordered a chicken plate with wedges and macaroni. It was pretty cheap at $5. We got home and sat down to eat. The first thing I decided to taste was the macaroni. Basically it was horrible. Zero flavor at all. Plus the texture was odd. It wasn't creamy or cheesy. Just weird tasting. The wedges were very good. I didn't have a problem with them at all! So that's good. The chicken also had zero flavor. I had a wing and a breast and neither one had much flavor. It was as bland as could be. I'm very disappointed in the deli. I feel like the food could be better. Maybe I came at the wrong time? I'll give this experience a 2/5 until I go back and give it a try again, this time a little earlier. read more

Overall, the Publix Super Market chain is above average, offering high quality produce, bakery items and a good selection of organic or environmentally friendly products. This particular location offers a spacious, clean store. There is a separate liquor store adjacent to the grocery. The bakery is particularly notable, their Five Grain Italian bread is top notch. Also the bakery staff is very friendly and helpful. Recently I was searching for a bread with a good consistency for making a special French Toast recipe. The ladies in the bakery offered suggestions and samples. They also provided me a complimentary baguette of half-day old French bread when I asked for something a bit more dry than a freshly baked loaf. read more

Watch out for inflated produce prices. I paid almost $3 for a tiny container of mint I needed for a Thai recipe and the mint was wilted in a couple of days, even carefully stored. I later discovered I could get a huge bag of super fresh mint for $1 at Saigon grocery! Bailey's has much better produce in their sale bins, at a fraction of the cost and at least double the freshness. Staff at Publix try to be very polite, to the point where they are pesky. I was badgered by the "sample" lady while waiting for my deli order which took forever despite the fact that there were 3 employees behind the counter. Everything is either standard or over priced. Bakery is very mediocre. Better than Winn-Dixie but honestly that doesn't take much. read more

I usually like Publix, but this Publix has for some unfathomable reason, decided not to have a meat counter. Their meat selection is usually sparse when it comes to steaks and other nicer pieces. Went yesterday and couldn't even find 2 New York Strips or 2 Ribeyes. I've also noticed that their meat cutting is not very even. This makes cooking the meat hard, when different parts of the same piece are uneven. read more

Friendly and capable employees mark this Publix as a welcome destination. I'd drive here to avoid the crabby folks at Winn-Dixie down the road. I also used to come to this store daily when my mother was in a nearby nursing home to fetch her whatever she wanted to snack on or eat. The Cuban and Italian subs from the deli are superlative...even better than the offerings at the Panera Bread joint next door. They'll make your sammitch exactly the way that you want it and you'll love it. The sushi also rocks and they'll make you some fresh if you ask. The liquor store next door has a good selection, although it would be cheaper to hop across the street to Dodge's if you're just wanting beer of a variety that they carry there. read more

Every time I go to The Store is Clean, Fully equipped with The Best products. Which Are Always, Fresh and very tasteful. It has An Excellent Bakery, I am from Europe and I love Bread it is products, Publix is The Only Store that satisfies my taste. The Deli, Fresh salad and dips counter are Superb, Their selection of fresh fruits and veggies The Best. Also inside the store their Butcher Dept, does an A + job, if they are out of something You want They will prepare it for You within minutes, so their Seafood dept. As about The Personnel Attitude, The Very Best SUPER POLITE, Helpful, they go an extra mile to help you. Its a Pleasure to shop in that particular store. Publix is the "un-Walmart" if you will. I am so glad Publix decided to come into the Pensacola market, because if you've tried to go to Walmart or Food World to do your grocery shopping, then you know that you have come to a big dissapointment in your life. Well, never fear! Publix is here! What I like about Publix is that it's modern, organized, and best of all, clean. I am not going to lie and say Publix is cheap, because it isn't. But, when you compare it to Walmart, well, yeah you know what I'm talking about. My wife would rather clip coupons to go to Publix. What I also like about Publix is that you actually get service here and they help you with the groceries when you get to your car, and are always eager to help when you can't find something. I went to Publix about 30 minutes ago to pick up a cake I ordered. I went through self check out , while in self check out I spoke with the attendant in regards to if there were any bags that would fit the size of the cake . He then brought me a brown paper bag and told me how to insert the cake into the bag while I paid . As I'm leaving literally putting my car in reverse I see this same older gentleman running out into the parking lot . I stopped backing up bc I didn't know which direction he was going . He approached my vehicle and said that my card declined and I didn't pay for the cake. I said no it did not , he said my order was still on the screen. I told him again my card didn't decline because I have a receipt. He asked could he see it ... I told him yes . He then asked could he take it back in the store for a moment . I agreed , this time him and another individual come out . Don't think either were management . I didn't view on either name tag . The female worker proceeds with the same story . With receipt in hand she still making statements that I stole the cake and asked if she could keep my receipt . She asked do I need my receipt,and why I needed it. She stated even if you didn't pay for it ima take care of it . Nothing for her to take care of , I have a receipt and it's pending from my bank account . Now it's not my issue if you don't know how to reprint a sale from your system . If u needed a copy that could've been handled while I was waiting in my car for my receipt back . Lastly I asked was this Publix policy to chase and humiliate their customers in a parking lot over a 24.99 cake . If I didn't need this cake for a special occasion for my job I would've gladly went back in the store and asked for a refund for the stolen cake ! I'm disgusted for my character to be attacked in this way even after I provided proof the cake was paid for ! Grocery store is pricey, but clean. Has a good selection of deli meats and cheeses. However, I wasn't too impressed with their bakery dept. Not a wide variety of breads, and what they did have was super over priced. 4 stars because I like the area that it is in (close to my friends house.) but mostly like the cleanliness of it. read more

I always find the store clean and the employees friendly. What I don't understand is the service in the deli area. It, for good reason, is always busy. However, I find that the wait is extended due to employees working on other orders and talking while doing so. Yesterday I had to wait way too long and noticed customers waiting behind were a bit outdone as well. Originally one person slicing deli meats. Eventually a second person comes to help and as soon as she does, the first person decides she needs to stop and clean a machine. She did state that I'll be with the next customer in a moment. However, instead of helping the next customer, she said to the other employee, "oh I guess I need to work on the online order" and walked away leaving everyone just "wondering". The manager came out, and instead of assisting those waiting on deli cuts, he goes straight to the sub station to assist someone who had just walked up. Even that customer looked over at those of us waiting as if "shouldn't you help them first"? I wouldn't normally complain, but this has become more and more prevalent. You see other deli employees, doing other things, but my background in customer service is to always assist those in front of you wanting to spend money. For those waiting, and not knowing what the other employees are doing, it sends the message that we are not as important as we should be. Just step up and help, including the deli manager. read more

I would probably give the store itself 3.5 stars. It is a pleasant place to shop, but their produce and meat are often not fresh and the general prices are not nearly as low as Wally World. The Publix pharmacy, however, is deplorable. My midwife called in a prescription yesterday at noon via an electronic message, and when I went to retrieve it at 8 PM, they claimed to have not received it. I called my midwife back today, and her nurse assured me the request was sent in. The nurse immediately phoned Publix pharmacy and made another request. This happened at 11 AM. When my husband went to pick it up tonight at 7 PM, they said it would take 20 min to fill since they had "just gotten it in". My husband also said they were rude and unprofessional. This is the last time I will use this pharmacy. read more

If you're not a young, attractive person...do not go to the deli and ask for their spicy wings! I did today, and it was just before 11:00 a.m. and the gentleman behind the counter said "yes..they'll be up in just about 45 seconds"! To my surprise I answered great because every time I go it's the same answer..20 minutes! So let me tell you what happened. A chicken wing consists of two parts, the drumlett, and the winglett. One would think that they would get equal amounts of each...but on almost every occasion, that has not been the case. Today I received 15 wingletts, and only 5 drumletts from a fresh out of the fryer batch! I hope I don't need to explain how much chicken is on each of these sections...but for $10.74 I got less chicken from the package than most people get after flossing their teeth when eating chicken from another retailer. I have addressed this with the management at this store before and apparently it really doesn't matter to them...so I'll just be thoroughly disgusted with this until I can find a cute, young, female to stand there and wait for another batch! read more
