Every time I visit this area, I pass by this classic, old-school supermarket that's full of charm and character. I'm not from around here, coming from South Florida, this place always caught my eye when I drove by. On my most recent trip, I finally decided to go in and check it out... and I'm so glad I did! This cute, southern, country-style supermarket is exactly what you'd hope for from a hometown market. It's cozy, warm and feels like a step back in time in the best way possible. There's a comforting, neighborly vibe that's hard to find these days. But let's talk about what really won me over: their buffet food. Oh. My. Goodness.!! At just $6.99/lb, this buffet is an absolute steal--and everything I tried was piping hot and freshly made. I won't even bother listing it all, but just know... I loved every single bite!! The potato wedges were seasoned to perfection, the fried chicken was golden and flavorful, and the catfish? Incredible. Just look at the photo I took of my container... Every bite was better than the last. I even left wishing I had grabbed a second container, because there were still entrees and side on that buffet line I didn't get to try. Next time, that's the plan. Two containers without caring what others think! Lol. The only tiny downside? I really wanted to buy a souvenir t-shirt but they didn't have my size in stock. Still, that didn't take away from what was an all-around amazing experience. I truly wish we had a Piggly Wiggly down by me. Until then, I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in town. My husband is born and raised n the west coast and genuinely thought Piggly Wiggly was a made-up store like something from a cartoon or a movie. So, when we were in Milton and saw there was one with the actual pig statue out front there was no question, we had to go. Honestly, the statue alone made it worth a stop. And yes, people were staring at us as we did our photo op but you only live once. It was silly and nostalgic. This is one of the oldest grocery store chains around and you definitely feel that old school vibe when you walk in. It's not fancy but it's somewhere in between a convenience store and a grocery store, which is interesting. They had a lot of unique snacks that we didn't see other places and a couple of good deals too. I will say the vibe through us off a bit. There were multiple people soliciting in the parking lot and the area right around the store felt a little rough. It's next to a trailer park or something and the overall energy just felt off. Not dangerous or anything, just uncomfortable enough that we didn't want to hang out for too long. It's a shame too because they had a buffet inside which was wild but it was super cheap and if we had felt more comfortable, we probably would have tried it but instead we took our photos, grabbed a few snacks for the road and headed out. This isn't really a place I would come to regularly, but it was a cool novelty stop and I absolutely loved the New Orleans Big boys gooey cakes in mint chocolate that I got here. Customer service is on point. I'm a plublix customer all the way but never been to a piggly wiggly. The pork chops were delicious and the fried chicken. The southern dressing was amazing. The other sides were not very good. Overall I'd come back for the dressing. I'll try the fort Walton one next.. read more

If you've ever visited a Piggly Wiggly you will immediately understand the meaning of their motto "Local Since Forever" it doesn't get any more local than these guys. A lot of the major brands offer hot ready to eat "Rotisserie Chickens" to go these guys have "Smoked Pork Butts" hot and ready to eat so grab a pack of buns and start pulling your pork I'm sure it's okay since this location has an in-store buffet island so grab a plate and belly up to the bar then find a table inside the store and chow down. I'm sorry but I could never answer the question when I'm ask "where do you want to go for dinner" with a uhm "how about Piggly Wiggly"? Known as America's first self-service grocery store these guys invented the term "aisle'in it" which we have all done at one time or another although I prefer to go and grab exactly what I came in for, cash out and go home. I am trying to say this with a straight face because I love this brand, but I saw a lady "aisle'in it" with a plate of hot food balanced on her shopping cart, I don't know maybe being that comfortable in public is a blessing I just hope she has plenty of napkins eating fried chicken and grabbing a jar of pickles off the shelf could be dangerous. We stopped in at this location while staying at the nearby KOA since we needed to pick up a few items so here we are before going back to the campground we ended up with a few more bags of groceries than I intended to get because we ended up "aisle'in it" too. I find shopping here a little entertaining but it's all with the best of intentions, the customers although competitive were courteous. This is by no means a giant grocery store but it seems to have an adequate inventory and the staff was very accommodating and professional although I did feel more comfortable using cash just because I'm not from around these parts. I LOVED PIGGLY! LOVED. LOVED. LOVED. STILL LOVE PIGGLY! In the 1980's in Iowa, I drove by a lone location w/ college friends. That store was soon closed permanently (before I could stop in), so when in my 40's I seriously added this chain grocery store to my Life Bucket List. The original P.W. opened in Memphis, Tennessee in 1916. Currently, there are 499 stores in 17 states (each independently owned & operated), yet I hadn't seen one in decades. I was THRILLED to run across this location while visiting the area. There are just 19 in Florida. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE? It's open 8 AM till 9 PM seven days weekly. The MEAT PRICES ARE INCREDIBLE-- Heck, all the prices are good. All prepared foods @ the Hot Bar are under $6.50 per pound. (Fish on Fridays.) There's a great selection of deli meats. And there are inside & canine-friendly outside dining tables. Pretty much the entire interior is bright red & white (including the VERY C00L checkered floor-- see pic). It creates an instant high! Each staff member & customer I interacted w/ was down home FRIENDLY & helpful. Piggly himself (in all his fat glory) graces the front lawn-- see pic. OH MY GOODNESS, I would have happily moved in for a day had my friend not dragged me out after an hour's stay:) This store makes me so happy I rhymed! Definitely a small grocery store (w/ a limited fresh produce section & no bakery), but considering its small town location it suffices. This Milton store does NOT have its own grocery webpage, but it does have a Facebook page that features regular posts about the hot bar offerings as well as grocery specials. Should you be as ENAMORED by Piggly Wiggly as I, the company website offers merchandise (such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, caps, & mugs) as well as recipes. Too friggin' cool! Oh, let's not forget the pink pig umbrella-- Oh, oh, oh, my gosh:) So LET'S END W/ SOME TRIVIA: In 1925, Publix's Founder George W. Jenkins began his grocery career @ Piggly Wiggly stocking shelves before becoming a manager. He was fired five years later (1930), only to open his first store that year. Hence, the Publix monopoly was born. Now how uDDerly C00L is that! (Apparently, I'm still on my Piggly Wiggly high. Lol :) Add Piggly Wiggly to YOUR bucket list. IT'S A GROCERY ICON! As a local, I shopped this store often, it has recently sold, and whoever bought it has lost their mind. The prices have doubled and tripled. It is absolutely not cost plus 10% any more ..they want 8 dollars for a box a cereal and 9 dollars for a bottle of pedialite. You can go to Dollar General right down the street and get 3 boxes of cereal to their one, same for the pedialite. We need other options for rural areas. But I will not support this store anymore. read more

I've gotten chicken 3 times here and it was all bad. Anytime I've gotten any kind of meat by the time I get 5 minutes down the road put it in my refrigerator it already has a bad smell that day or the very next day! The cashier has even said to check the milk and meat because she is horrified by what she sees in the back. They gave me a store credit and finally went back in for 2 vegetables I needed because I forgot I needed them and didn't want to go back to town and they had no idea about the store credit I was told I'd get. And the celery I got was the best bunch I could find and it was already starting to go limp. I'm absolutely disgusted by the rude customer service I've received and by the products they have. I will NEVER come back here. I'll go all the way into town about 30min away from my house rather than going here for anything I need. read more

The Piggly wiggly is not cheap. I recently purchased Breyers ice cream from them and it was $5.50 Plus their 10% which bought the total to $6.05. the exact same Breyers ice cream at Walmart was $4.48 and no plus 10%. In other words Piggly Wiggly's Breyers ice creams is $1.57 more than what it is at Walmart. Even Winn-Dixie is cheaper. Walmart's milk is $3.94 whereas Piggly wiggly milk is$5.20 plus they're 10%, which brings the total to$5.72. That's a difference of $1.74 Please tell me where is the savings. They claim that the price listed for the products they sell are what they pay for them and the 10% is their profit. To me that sounds very unrealistic. How can they stay in business with charging only an extra 10% for what they sell. I find this very difficult to believe. No business can survive on just charging an extra 10% over the cost of their products that they sell. You'd have to be foolish to believe that. Furthermore my experience with them is that all of their products are more expensive than Walmart. The only thing that I found to be cheap are their cigarettes and the only other thing I use them for is when I don't want to drive to Walmart to pick up just one item. read more
