In town visiting family and decided to stop in this location to pick up some Wednesday Discount sushi. This location is on a pretty busy affair and shares a parking lot with several other businesses of fast food restaurants making it a bit hectic to pull in. But once you're in there, it's the same old familiar Publix, as always. This location really did a great job on making sure the sushi selection was fresh, promotionally priced, and ready to go. I grabbed about three packs, walked across the store for a couple of other items and was out within five minutes. Publix best quality might be. Publix has become the leading name in the supermarket field here in the southeast. Once you experience a Publix supermarket yourself, I am confident that you will understand how Publix has become such an iconic supermarket brand and has developed such a loyal customer base down here in the southeast. Publix has created a solid reputation by offering incredible customer service, great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals and we cannot forget their subs, which are affectionately known as "Pub Subs." Coming from New Jersey, a state known for their great subs, in a way it hurts me to state that a supermarket has some of the best subs in the area. But it is also a 100% true statement. Publix subs are very good. My go-to sub is probably their Italian sub, which is truly a tasty offering. I also enjoy their roast beef and cheese sub. I would definitely recommend upgrading it by using Boar's Head meat. It is definitely worth the small upcharge. It is great to see Publix expanding beyond the boundaries of their home state of Florida and spreading throughout the southeast. Not only am I happy about it, but I am confident that the communities that Publix opens a location in are very grateful for a Publix opening by them. I would definitely recommend this particular Publix location or any Publix location and I give it five stars. read more

Solid Publix located in Donelson right Lebanon Pike not too far from Briley Parkway. While I do not live in Donelson, I do venture out that way on occasion, with the latest reason being coming back home from the airport. What is great after an airport run? Pub Subs, you are correct! While I have walked this store a few times to pick up random items on occasion, my main purpose for stopping has been pub subs. The line is always expected, busy, but the staff are always very friendly and helpful. Sandwiches are always made with precision and care, and are always extra tasty! Cashiers and other staff are always friendly as well. Overall, great Publix that I will surely be back to many times! read more

There's little you can't find here. The produce section, wine, meat, seafood, dairy and all other areas provide a veritable food options. The parking lot is easy to get in and out of even though it's busy here. The store is very clean and pleasant to be in, they even have wet bags for your umbrellas by the entrance. It's quite unusual to see this level of dedication to cleanliness and organization at a grocery store. The employees were also helpful and kind. When I went to the nearby Kroger it really highlighted how well cared for this Publix is. The employees and management here are doing great! Why not 5 stars then? Well, their prices are a bit high, they didn't have the ice cream I wanted, and when I decided to grab some fresh produce instead, I wasn't satisfied with the quality and left with nothing. read more

Heading home after our trip to Nashville, my daughter and I stopped in to the closest Publix. It is my second favorite grocery, after Trader Joe's, but I rarely get to visit since they are located in the south. I always go with my aunt when I visit her in to Columbia, SC, but not often, so this was a treat. My daughter even exclaimed what a nice store it was when we entered. We got a few items, some things to eat on the drive home, and I even found a pretty lidded casserole dish on clearance for $15. My favorite thing about Publix is being able to grab 1 item for half-off for a BOGO sale. I've not heard of any other grocery with that offer. read more

I love supermarket culture -- therefore when I visit new areas, I make it an effort to see what locals frequent, the produce prices and variety, etc. While I don't work in this sector, studying consumerism is one of my favorite past times. For those that are new to the area- Publix is predominantly in the Southeast. There aren't any Publix where I'm from (in Southern California; the market to enter is competitive). I was craving pasta during my visit in Nashville (carbo loading time for a half marathon!), and I was delighted to see they had some freshly prepared Greek salads in their deli area (pasta + veggies FTW!) It was getting late - maybe 8pm-ish and their hot food bar / deli had already closed up shop (by 7pm I believe.). I was mildly disappointed not to experience this since I read about their hot food section both in Yelp and through other websites. I think of the hot food bar (hot food sold by weight) as a unique part of the market so I had to check it out. I can't think of many chained markets with a hot food deli section that offer this convenient product/ service, other than Whole Foods, Wegmans, and the occasional Ralph's in an urban college area (example UCLA). Definitely will attempt to try visiting again if I'm in the Southeast portion of the States! read more

Lebanon Pike shopping! This Publix (Pube-licks) is a higher end grocer located just off the freeway in Nashville. Their store is big, well lit, and well stocked. Walking in, you are taken aback at how wide the aisles are, how shiny the surfaces are, how clean the place is. The store has a good selection of pre-made foods, with a little deli, a meat counter, and a healthy produce section. I was pleased to see that they have a bakery, cranking out freshly baked rolls, buns, and loaves. Their soda selection had some new novelty sodas I'd never heard of. Prices were a bit higher than I'm used to paying. I was most impressed to see their end cap display of Nashville hot sauces for your fried chicken. They had a hometown pride kinda display, showing off a variety of hot sauces that are unique to Nashville. I scored some 'too hot' hot sauce. Parking is easy- it's in a large neighborhood shopping center, complete with a CareNow and a liquor store. Everything you need! One stop shopping. read more

Saying this is probably sacrilege in Tennessee, but I just don't get everyone's obsession with Publix. Sure, the Krogers here aren't nice at all, but Publix has an even small selection of products than Kroger does! I guess this store is a little newer and shinier than the average Kroger in Nashville. But it seems to be pretty limited - especially when it comes to meat counter/fish counter options? I haven't really found my store in Nashville (after three years), but Publix is in the mix. Legend in South Nashville tells tales of a man, Bacca be the name, who turned a running joke of a Kroger in South Nashville into a responsive, clean, and respectable store before clashing with corporate and deciding to head to a different market. As the Kroger he had once lifted so high eventually fell and became once again known as "Murder Kroger," a band of South Nashville hungry poured onto Lebanon Pike in an attempt to find the landing location of Bacca. TL;DR, store's great, I don't know how much he had to do with it as I hadn't been to this Publix before, but it's like his last store when he was on duty. Clean, everything getting done, and no waiting. But everyone here suspects it's Joe's doing. read more

I usually love shopping at Publix, and this store was clean and organized just like I expect a Publix to be. When I went down one aisle looking for something a gentleman that was stocking the shelves heard me telling my mom what I was looking for and guided me to the correct aisle so I didn't waste time looking in the wrong place. Their 2 ltr sodas were on sale, buy 2 get 2 free but we didn't need four bottles so we got three thinking that we would still be able to get one free, but when we got to check out, the lady informed us that we had to buy 4 to get the discount. I prefer the Publix next to my house but I would stop in here if I was in the area again. read more

We moved here from Florida and have seriously missed Publix! We live in Inglewood and drive to this location just because the environment and service are beyond stellar. The prices are competitive as well and the store is super clean! William the manager is on his game. Jack helped us with our groceries today and was incredibly sweet (you rock, Jack!). People who work here genuinely love what they do. The morale is high, and they go above and beyond to take care of customers. Publix fans for sure! read more

I normally go to Publix because they have awesome customer service however today i had an awful experience in the sandwich shop . The lady that fixed my sandwich name was laureen. Lauren was extremely rude and mean. She fixed my sandwich super sloppy drowned it in so much vinegar by the time i got home my sandwich was soggy . when i mentioned it her , she shrugged her shoulders .. Hold on, now. Is this the same store that was a* bane of my Miami existence? But but but... it's clean... and new... and the employees are nice and helpful... Oh, wait. I'm not in Miami anymore. Got it. This Publix is the jam. I frequented many a Publix in my Miami days and such experiences usually led to some mix of tears, thrown items, raised voices, complete breakdowns, and plots for revenge. I knew that grocery shopping shouldn't and didn't have to be this difficult, but I couldn't prove it. After all, I was in the Magic City and the struggle was real. But then a funny thing happened: I moved to Nashville and things like, oh, I dunno, grocery shopping became easy... a pleasure, even. There isn't a Publix on my side of town so a quick search revealed that this Donelson location was closest to me. Two shakes of a lamb's tail later and I was there. The first thing you'll notice is how wide the aisles are and how clean the entire grocery is. Wide aisles mean it's easy to get up and down without engaging in shopping cart warfare. The cleanliness means that when you got to the deli to get sliced lunch meat, the slicer won't be dripping with blood and there are no flies buzzing about. It sounds like a no-brainer but try living in Miami and expecting something as routine as cleanliness. You'll understand my wonder then. Being Donelson, the international section isn't as vast as say, Miami, BUT they have a nicely curated international section with a decently wide variety of items from a number of countries/backgrounds. Their organic section is nicely stocked and I've never left without exactly what I wanted. In fact, when I went to other big-chain stores in search of a blender and left empty-handed, the Donelson Publix had just what I needed. My only real complaint about Publix is the price point is higher than what you'lll find at Kroger and the BOGO savings aren't as plentiful as I'd like but maybe I haven't mastered couponing the way I should. It's a test. This location's biggest asset, however, are its employees. Pound for pound, you won't find nicer, more engaged people in any other grocery in the Nashville area. On my last visit, so many employees smiled at me, asked if they could help me and/or wished me a nice day, I thought I was on a television commercial. They were genuinely that nice! Produce, deli, dairy, in the aisles, management... heck, even the pharmacists have gotten from behind the counter to walk into the aisles and answer questions for me and offer comparisons. In any city, this is extraordinary. Coming from Miami, it's mind-blowing. This kindness, then, extends to the patrons. Every time I've been here, I've exchanged smiles, pleasant looks and/or quick greetings. Some of this may be a Southern thing but some of it, I believe, comes from the fact that there's s much ambient kindness in the air. It's contagious. I'm glad to have this Publix as part of my grocery rotation. Food, glorious food!!! If this Publix were in East Nashville, I would really be jumping out of my seat. But I'll settle for Donelson. This is probably the prettiest Publix I have visited. There were so many food tastings! Probably because they just opened. But still. The produce was beautiful and fresh, the baked goods smelled tempting, the meats clean and they had organic options. They could use more free range options though. At any rate, I am absolutely thrilled to have a feasible option other than crappy Kroger! Publix is a great balance between quality and price. While you won't find quite everything you love at Whole Foods, you can find excellent products at very reasonable prices. Kroger is dead to me! read more

Yes, this one. it's just over the river from East Nashville. There are some things I find here.. gives me a reason to shop in such a clean store. I go in here because it's next door to a pet store.. Good enough reason, right? I always check to see if there might be some of my favorite cuts of meat are on sale. Maybe find a jar of Duke's mayonnaise.. or decent variety of vinegars. The best part is how clean the store is. So different than other stores I shop in. It's clean, it doesn't smell, the aisles are wide enough. All good stuff. read more

Ah, Publix, ye glorious mythical beast. In the little village of Donelson, tales were woven of a day when men and women would no longer have only one real choice for a market. If only Publix were here, then we would place a crown upon its head! Magically, without warning, a sign appeared one day which read, "Publix - Coming Soon". The people did laugh and cheer, for they knew that what had been foretold would soon be nigh. The coronation day was set for the Tenth day of April in the year of our Lord, this Two Thousandth and Thirteen. And when that day had arrived, there was much exuberance. As you may have guessed, today was the grand opening of Publix in Donelson. Even though I don't technically live in Donelson, Publix is now the closest grocery store to my house. Just because it's the closest, doesn't mean it will become my go-to grocery. Is it better than what was previously there (Food Lion a.k.a. Food Dog)? Yes, Absolutely....but that's not really saying much. I honestly don't know how Food Lion survived as long it did...but I digress. Back to the grand opening, the parking lot was packed, which I think was a little deceptive because the parking lot is not that big. It was very busy inside, but honestly it was no more busy than Kroger on "senior day" (I know I'm not the only one that has accidentally gone to Kroger on a Wednesday only to get stuck behind scooters on every aisle!). Despite the bustle, I checked out the whole store and here is what I found: * Everything is clean and new (as it should be, it's the grand opening of a brand new store!). * Everyone who works there is friendly ( something that Publix prides themselves on). * Everything for the most part is more expensive than a certain large grocery chain down the street. I did quite a bit of price comparisons, and for most of the products that I buy, the prices were $1.00 - $1.50 more expensive. * There are food samples everywhere ( this could come in handy if you forgot to eat lunch). I think I went in expecting to be blown away, and that just didn't happen. No matter how you dress it up, it's still a large box filled with the exact same products as all the other markets. I think what you pay for at Publix is the shopping experience; everyone is friendly, and they have great customer service. I always appreciate good customer service, but not at the expense of my wallet. Bottom Line: I will probably go to Publix for the BOGO deals, but other than that, I can't see myself going there for anything other than last second needs. If they lower their prices a bit to become more competitive with their local grocery store rivals, then I may consider going on a regular basis. Lower prices would definitely garner an extra star from me, but as it stands for now, 3 stars. read more

And forgive me if she is special needs, since that's the only thing that will excuse her behavior at this point. I was THRILLED when they opened up a Publix so close to our house (15 minutes drive to E Nash). Every once in a while I'm forced to go to the Kroger near my house, and every single time I leave wishing I had just taken the time to drive to Publix. The experience is night and day. Shop here! This grocery store has more food and selection than I have ever seen in my life! Organic, Gluten free, international....really quite unbeatable in selection. They even had a whole cheese section, y'all. And not that processed crap but real stuff....the type of cheese that you've probably only heard about on TV unless you are a hard core cheese connoisseur. It also has to be one of the cleanest and most organized places I have ever been as well. I've been a couple of times and I don't think I've ever seen anything even slightly out of place. My AR senses certainly get a pleasant tingle upon every visit. Customer service is also top notch. I am always greeted several times, but not in such a way that I feel intruded upon. Their deli is awesome and their chef salad is down right addicting. Publix is one of my favorite all around shopping experiences to be sure. The only drawback is the price. Most of my frequently purchased items were $0.20-$0.30 more on average than at Walt-Mart. They do have BOGO and digital coupons which might offset some of the costs. In the end, I think it is a matter of "you get what you pay for". Most times, I am happy to pay extra for the extra selection, better service, and cleaner/better overall atmosphere....unless I'm broke! read more

The best Publix I have visited. Layout was lovely, to be greeted by the Bakery is a fine and lovely thing, its was a hard choice but we got Tiramisu and Canoli, there were tons of itty bitty pastries and tarts for parties all looking lovely, oh and lemon tart to die for. The International Section had it's own corner and was well stocked but on the whole a little over priced. If the old global grocer could do his beans and Bisto cheaper then Publix sure can. Meat and fish counter were sparkling. Upshot is if you don't mind spending a bit more for clean, fresh and friendly then this is it. I think a once a month treat for us. read more

While I only recently moved to Donelson, this Publix is by far one of the best I have been to in town! The employees are so nice and helpful, not to mention friendly, and the store is clean and very easy to navigate. That being said, Donelson is not known as an area with a large Jewish population, but you would not know looking at their ethnic food aisle which has just as large if not better, selection of jewish dry good foods as the Publix in Belle Meade! I still need to talk to the manager about getting Passover foods, as that would really be the icing on the cake. They also have a great selection of Asian foods which makes my wife and I equally happy. I love shopping here, so much so it is hard to shop elsewhere as it is just so convenient and nice. Now to get the newspaper and saving even more money with coupons! read more
