Well I was in the Florida Keys on holiday over the Fourth of July and I asked a resident where the best place to get the best tasting Keylime pie was, he laughed and said, "do you really want to know?!" "Publix" was his answer. He said if you go to a restaurant, you'll get a smaller piece for maybe $6-$7 and there, you can get a large pie for probably $7-$8 or so. Sure enough, I stopped in and I quickly found the Keylime pie division, they had a whole pies and a half pies. I opted for the half pie and I think it cost around $4.50. And when I took my first bite into it, it was awesome! I was given an excellent suggestion. This was a good pie. It had just enough tanginess from the Keylime to make you go, "wow! This is a good pie!" So if you are wanting a very good tasting Keylime pie for a lot less than what you would pay at a local restaurant, this is the place to go. The store itself was very clean and appeared to be well-stocked. There were a lot of items that I had never seen before, as they probably were catering to the Caribbean/Cuban residence. This was a smaller grocery store, it reminded me of a grocery store when I was growing up back up in the 80s that was the typical store before Walmart moved in. It a small small-town grocery store feel, there's nothing wrong with that, I'm just not used to it! All in all, it was a clean store, the staff was friendly, the shelves were stocked and I had a good Keylime pie. read more

This Publix is the nearest in this area of the Keys for quite a ways, so understandably it was extremely crowded. It's still Publix though and I've yet to have a truly bad experience in a Publix! Despite being ridiculously crowded (expounded by the fact that it's the holiday season), it was relatively organized, and didn't seem too old. A lot of the baking aisle was in shambles, but politely asking a few employees got me what I needed (or at least helped answer a question) efficiently without me wasting too much of my time searching the chaos. Kudos to them! Otherwise, we really didn't experience much here (didn't mess with the seafood counter, deli or bakery) but everything else was great. Overall, a decent Publix! Worth a stop if you're needing to do a grocery shop. read more

We are from San Francisco visiting our daughter at the University of Miami medical school. It was my first time in Florida and our first exposure to Publix markets in the 5 days that we were here. We probably visited Publix markets at least a half a dozen times and were at the Marathon one twice. Most of our experience was favorable, except for the customer service here. As tourists, our family drove from Miami to Key West, stopping at the Publix market for refreshments. On our trip back from Key West, we stopped here on a Sunday evening 3/8/09 at about 1700 hours. Unfortunately we ended up in the line of "Martha", who is a sad excuse for a customer service checker. She acted like she was privileged to check our groceries and carried an attitude that was probably reflective of her disdain for passing tourists. Sure, she probably was having a bad day, but in this tight economy, she is fortunate to be employed. Some customer service training is in order, as that type of behavior reflects poorly on the whole chain. We would have rated this store lower, but due to the positive experience in other Publix stores in south Florida, we were a little more generous. In general, the quality of the merchandise of Publix markets in south Florida, are much better than the ones in San Francisco. read more

Management clearly caters to locals and NOT tourists! We were traveling & had our small dog in her crate. We were asked to leave as they didn't allow dogs. Really??? When I was leaving a man was checking out with a large leashes pit bull type dog! Went again another day & guess what? Saw the same man with the same dog entering the store & being greeted by name by management!! Store also places items under buy one / get one signs that are NOT BOGO!! False advertising!! Deli employees people that don't speak English - I asked for popcorn chicken & the woman had to get someone else to answer me! Flies were all behind the deli counter too!!! read more

I'm a fan but talk about price gouging these poor hurricane victims!! Should offer discounts to permanent residents. No one using EBT can afford to eat a piece of meat from that store. I know they are the only grocery store open, but geesh, have a conscious Publix. read more

You pretty much have 2 choices for grocery stores in the keys, and Publix is definitely the better option. They are usually a little more expensive than their competitor, but Publix has a cleaner store, a better variety of food, better quality meat and bakery, and better customer service. Best of all they don't have self check out lanes. They did some renovations and now the store is even bigger. They now have a really great selection of wines and beer. As always I love their bakery! They have delicious desserts and fresh bread. read more

Of course i had to go to the bathroom again. For those who ask why does she seem to go to the bathroom so much i had surgery in march of this year. This was my first trip since surgery. So i'm restricted to eating 4 oz of protein, 2oz of vegs and 2 oz of ??. Basically i'm allowed to drink anything without sugar or carbarnation. up to 64 oz. per day. Yes i'm guilty of going off a little bit but everytime i had something i had 2 go 2 hours later. so yes we stopped at publix, on our way home from the keys.Restrooms were clean, staff was friendly. I felt like having something sweet so we picked some bags of candy (werthers creamy candies, some starbursts and some watermelon chunks). It came out to be $12.00. Now this was my 2nd time going to a publix. There was no line to wait to be checked out. There was plenty of parking. Wish there was one in new york. read more

This is a very nice Publix, and it is the best Grocery store for miles around. It is large and well stocked and contains just about everything you would expect to find. The deli was very good for cold cuts and prepared foods. I like shopping at Publix. read more

Great selection and reasonably priced compared to the other big chain across the road; much cleaner, too. Always busy but plenty of open cashiers. That being said, some of the cashiers can be a bit aloof. read more

Recommend you back in to the parking space for an easier departure. Can't figure out why the parking lot seems tight, but it is when you try to leave. Otherwise, definitely the better place to shop for groceries in Marathon. read more

I'm the architect who designed this and more than 300 other Publix stores. I have not been to Marathon since 2005, but the store seemed to be holding up fairly well. I wish well to all who visit one of my favorite locations. read more

Publix is not friendly to special diet needs. And if you ask for it, they say they will get it but don't. Also they allow dogs in the store, and they are not service dogs either.. I now drive hour and half for basic groceries.. read more

Disappointing. Publix here used to be very nice, but it's now getting a little worn and tired, and it gets increasingly difficult to find items I could a couple of years ago. While I realize the choices aren't as plentiful as they are on the mainland (and it's gotten much more crowded in the past year), they should still know better and pay more attention to their inventory and store traffic. getting harder to differentiate them from the dumpy Winn Dixie. read more

I went to different stores of Publix, while visiting Florida. We don't have them back in California. Mostly we bought cut fruits which was ok. For a day we had a lunch there. The tomato soup was perfect and there was a chance to choose from different salads if you don't want to get fried chicken or other meats. read more
