I rented this unit online because I am from out of town and didn't actually see the unit until we had the movers move all my dad's belongings in there. At that time it was noticed that the light inside the climate controlled 10x20 unit wasn't working, but the movers got everything in with just the hall light. Now we are planning to go back in there at the beginning of December to start going through all his stuff (dad died and we just had movers pack up everything so we could move it and go back later and go through everything at our leisure). My sister reminded me today how dark it was in the unit and to call to get the light working before we go there (we are both from out of town). When I called the location I was told by the person that answered the phone that none of the lights work as "corporate shut them all off". When I said this was not an acceptable answer (especially with a unit that is inside and large) she told me that we just needed to bring a flashlight. Again, wrong answer. I said we needed a working light in there to go through my dad's stuff and she told me it was a "corporate decision and above her pay grade" Never was I told there wouldn't be a working light even though there is a light fixture in the ceiling. I went back and looked at my contract and the website and no where does it say the lights wouldn't be on inside the climate controlled spaces. When I called to complain to the corporate office the woman said that she was putting in a work order and had sent the area manager my complaint. I asked how long it would take for someone to call me back to get this resolved she told me that they have 48 to 72 hours to respond. Had I known there would not be a light in this very large space I would have never rented it. Telling me to bring my own flashlight is just wrong. I am paying over $200/month for this unit and am already stressed out by my dad's death. If this unit wasn't climate controlled and on the outside, we could have rolled up the door and had plenty of light. We had to have climate controlled (thus an interior entry) unit due to the many oil paintings we were storing. We shall see if someone actually calls me back and if the light gets turned on. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I will be happy to update this review should the issue be resolved, but I am not holding my breath! read more

Lady at counter was very rude. I was waiting outside to talk to someone. She pulled up at 1:30. She said you have to come back after 2:00. I came back at 2pm. She was talking down to. Started talking louder and louder. I said you need to work on your customer service skills. I am a customer and your being rude. She snapped and said that's the way I am. I said that's not going to get you a good review. She said I'm getting golf cart you can walk or drive your choice. A asked how far, "She said down back by 1604" I said I will follow. She showed unit's. I told her which one I wanted. I went to my reservation it was cheaper for same unit. I said I will finish on line. She said you need to finish outside then. How rude was that! Marie was nothing but kind and informative about the processes of using the gate and the lease information regarding our unit we needed while in transition for another living arrangement. We wish we were able to work with her longer! This woman is so sweet and actually cares about her tenants and the property she takes care of. RATS Dead rats, live rats, baby rats and full-grown rats. I went to pull something out of my storage unit and was greeted by a large, live rat who must have been visiting the desicated remains of the three dead rats who were shriveled into dry husks. Or maybe it was there to take care of it's baby rats. Not a problem anymore as I scooped the next up with a shovel and hurled it as far over the fence as I could. I immediately made plans for a more sanitary and actually protected storage unit and had all of my things out within 48 hours. I will be filing an insurance claim against the Public Storage insurance. I'm sure they'll find some way to weasel out of it but I've also got legitimate coverage through USAA, thank God! The kicker? I just received a notice today that my storage unit rental price was going to go I this month from $174 to $215! And it had just gone up by $20 two months ago. I did myself a great disservice by not looking at reviews for this place before booking. I booked because I was on a time crunch, and they had availability. Great, so I thought. Their hours are from whatever time in the morning until 6pm. I arrived at 515 to check in and the door was locked and they had gone home for the day. If the hours state a time a business is open until, BE OPEN. I am disgusted at that, there was also a vehicle parked out, that had to belong to the employee, but still, no answer at the door. Put me in a predicament because of their poor service. Whatever you do DO NOT store here. read more

Terrible experience!! Unit was infested with Rats!! Tore up all my stuff. Ruined a $4k sectional, chewed all the hoses in a brand new washer, found baby rats in a box with my kids stuffed animals. Had to throw away thousands of dollars of stuff that was either chewed up or pissed on. Then as I was throwing stuff in the trash a lady that works there has the audacity to say she is going to charge us for anything left in the unit or by the trash can and when she said there is insurance for this "which I got by the way" on a 5k policy only $250 is for rat damage!!!!! Wow and the worst thing is they know about the rats and don't warm people before they get the units!! Please if you care about your stuff DO NOT RENT!!! read more

I did my rental on public storage website, so no contact. I didn't get a choice on purchase of a lock, I had to go into office to get a refund, because I already had a lock. I wanted no contact so defeated my need of no contact. Also used the app to open gate but didn't work. read more

This is the worst customer service from local to corporate I have ever dealt with. They say they have video surveillance ( not on all units). they make you buy insurance but when you have a claim they say its another company and they cannot help. You would be better off leaving your goods to thieves and just have them sell it. Incompetence at every level. read more

I like the location, it's safety and cleanliness. Mike was very helpful and I like where it's at. I was also happy to see how cool the climate control storage was. I have photos and paintings in storage, and staying cool and dry is important to be able to keep them nice. I definitely recommend this location and other public storage. read more

The people who work here are both friendly and helpful. The property, however, is well below par. The light does not work in the unit and the explanation is the company has no intention of fixing it. The doors have magnet door timers so that you can load/unload without putting in your code on every trip (climate controlled building), but they do not work. Again, the explanation is that the company has no intention of fixing them. I'm glad this is a temporary storage solution as I wonder what else the company does not plan on repairing when it breaks. This facility is awesome!!!!! I truley believe its because of the manager, Bruce. The facility is clean. There is no trash left out by the dumpster. I have seen the staff make several trips on their cart while I was there. they stopped by and asked if I was OK or needed anything. They answered all my questions quickly and explained everything clearly. They showed me around to see what the units that I were enterested in looked like and they did not rush me or try to upsell me when I did not need it. They worked with me on exactly which size I needed for the amount of items I wanted to store. When leaving there I felt as though my items were safe with there multiple cameras and having a manager live onsite. If anyone is looking for a clean and safe place to store your belongings, go to Public Storage in Universal City and talk with Bruce the manager. He will treat you right. read more

I went online & found this storage facility was very convenient for my needs. I was able to reserve the unit I needed, and the first months rent was only $1. When I went to the location to sign my paperwork, Bruce was very helpful & informative. He let me know about all my fees and answered all my questions. Furious! I have been paying on this storage for over 6 years and they keep increasing my unit and its the smallest they offer and I'm now up to $108 a month. I never complain about anything, just provide the service and i'll pay. I live out of the state and depend on this company to watch my belongings for me and they keep letting me down every year that passes. Well, I've decided to finally grab my belongings in May and yet again another policy has been changed without notice. After being a loyal customer for so long, he had the audacity to basically tell me , "oh well, don't get mad at us if you don't get a notice, we don't have to give you one because its a courtesy, not demanded", which I never knew because its not in the contract. HOW F"N RUDE!! Loyalty has never meant anything to these people. Will, not be doing business with these thieves anymore. Can't wait to grab my stuff. Rent long term at your own risk read more
