I recently completed a move from California to Florida & needed a place to store my moving container & the contents. From the first time I dealt with Public Storage, it's been a good experience. I had many questions & the customer service rep recommended I use Public Storage on Beneva Road in Sarasota. Within 24 hours I had received a very friendly professional call from Frank the manager of this particular Public Storage. He welcomed me, left me a nice voicemail and said he was here to help me. I had the chance to meet Frank when I went to see my storage unit after I arrived from California and he was very helpful. VERY helpful thank good people! Thank called corp # to get prices and he made great presentation of why do it. Very attractive 1st mo. $1 but like all of storage places it pricy (to me) at $230 months for 10x15 unit. Place clean appears "tight" to keep out any bugs etc.! Lady at the location (Beneva) was very patient and thoughtful getting me oriented to setting up "One Touch" open & close entrance with phone. Company seems buttoned up. read more

I have held a 5 x 5 locker here for only 11 months. The rent started at 35 and then 55 then 65 and they informed me that it is 85 starting next month. Almost tripled in 11 months. I contacted customer service and was told it's month to month and the rent increases would continue periodically (every other month) as long as I keep the locker. Public Storage has convenient tools for paying bills, entering gates, renting a unit, and setting up an account. However their business model is predatory and highly greed driven. Their main goal is to extract money rather than secure "tenants." EVERY 6 months they increase monthly rates and it will sadly never end!! My first increase was + $70/month. They may initially offer a request to remain at same rate which may be temporary if they approve that. If there is an error in a payment not going through due to an error in entering a card or bank # plan to not have notice that there was an initial processing error and being charged a lot. They may or may not take into account a reliable payment history and work with the customer. If you desire to stay with a budget and not be taken advantage of I'd suggest doing further research on small business models with ethics and value of your hard earned money rather than not caring to price you out for their personal financial gain. read more

No lights for a month! Not one Manager has never contacted me! I my unit is pitch black and unsafe. I fell and hurt myself trying to remove containers to the hallway which lights were also out. Very unsafe for women! I would not recommend this place to anyone! Poor service, communication and maintenance! read more

Sarasota, Beneva Road, is where we have unit. In process of moving to another place. Staff was very helpful when called, and in changing date s couple days out for us. We had to reserve early, as others have said, to be guaranteed the unit, 10X30. They can only move out one week from time called. We were on vacation and they noticed hadn't been to unit, temp lock was still in. We went the next morning. Noticed very back of unit, Floor had very large dirty area, looked like had been some type of oil in it at some point. Other than that has been fine. We put large tarps we had, on floor, to protect our belongings. Easy access, can't go later than 9pm. read more

We have to pay extra because our storage unit is "climate controlled", but we have not had AC for 18+ days. All units surrounding ours that pay extra for AC do not have AC. We are forced to pay for a service that is not provided. This is called fraud. We called the Sarasota and Corporate offices.They say it makes no difference if the AC works or not, the temperatures only might change by 8F. They disregard the high humidity in our current rainy season. We were told to be patient and they do not know when their contractor gets the parts to repair the AC. Only upon demand we got offered two separate new units or a AC controlled unit at a different location and damp x. We have heavy furniture and they refuse to pay for a company to move it.They refuse to move it for us. Corporate says their contracts say that they cannot guarantee AC. DO NOT RENT a climate controlled unit here unless you can afford losing your furniture to mold. read more

I used them because of the great $1 first month and after I made my online reservation Krystal called me to set up an appointment. I got there today and she greeted me right away and was very knowledgeable about her job. Made sure I got the right size unit at the best price. Recently moved here from Arizona and had two Uhaul trailers full to store. I rented a very large unit in order to comfortably store everything and not have to play Tetris trying to fit it all in. When doing my research I noticed that this location had the best prices in the area - I decided to give it a try. When I arrived at the location I was instantly greeted by a warm and inviting employee who quickly got me checked in and showed me my storage space. She explained to me all the charges due that day and what the monthly bills would be and I was extremely pleased there were no surprise fees that I've previously gotten at other storage facilities.
