Using the online check-in was very difficult bc the gate would not accept my code & then my unit was very difficult to find. I paid my July rent but had to suddenly move my stuff out on 7/3 & I received no refund. It seems as if they would have preferred me to "skip out" on rent as opposed to being responsible & paying the amount agreed on the 1st of every month. Had I known I was moving out, I wouldn't have paid but it was unexpected & an emergency. Most storage places will only charge you for the days you used the unit & refund the remaining rent. NOPE. Not Public Storage. They kept my entire $80 for 3 days of actual usage. + getting calls back or being able to talk to anyone in the office was extremely difficult! I always had to call the main # or finally start using the Chat feature on their website. read more

So far, so good. Reserving a space on line was very easy but arranging payment on line was not possible for some reason. Fortunately, Brenda resolved whatever the problem was and ushered us through the process, showed us the unit, explained the facility, insurance option, app functionality, payment details, etc.. I got behind in my monthly payments. They auctioned off everything in my locker. I GOT NO PHONE CALL, EMAIL, LETTER, OR TEXT.....ABSOLUTELY NO NOTICE ! I wanted to contact the person who won the auction to try and get some personal items back, like college degrees and family photos. They refused to give me any information. I contacted the national office and sent a letter to the president and vp, and never received a response! read more

Public Storage is simply a bad place to do business with. Along with the frequent rate increases you will experience without notice, they assess unreasonable late charges when you are tardy paying the rate increase you were not made aware of in time to do anything about. I received my notice of a rate increase in the mail yesterday, 3 days after they've already assessed an exorbitant late fee for the past due amount on my account, even after I immediately processed my payment for the amount of the increase and communicated that to their agent. They are absolutely world-class at communicating your past due late fee, but seem to suck at letting you know there's been a rate increase! read more

You leave in July speak to her directly told you are all set and two months later you will get calls from a collection agency for August rent. The rent increases do not make sense. After paying on time for 18 months, my rent was increased by $40. I was forced to move out and take a unit at another Public Storage literally a half a mile away for less $$ than I was originally paying for the same size unit. I'm saving $$ but inconvenienced by moving. Pricing makes no sense. Why inconvenience good paying customers to reallocate to another nearby Public Storage? Called customer service. They have no explanation and no remorse. read more

Do not use this Public Storage location it is very unscrupulous. I made a reservation online for a unit for $65.00 per month. When I received my emailed agreement, because they could not provide a paper copy of the agreement onsite during check-in, the price went from the reservation price of $65.00 per month to $115.00 per month. The manager stated I had to buy their Public Storage Insurance, stated I had to use their lock and wanted to know in detail the items I would be storing in my unit and they provided me a lock. The rental agreement cleary states that I did not have to buy Public Storages insurance, states that I could have provided my own insurance which is what I asked and states that I am to provide my own lock. I find this Public Storage location and manager very untrustworthy and shady. I cancelled my agreement the next day, because I never moved anything into the unit, which was another nightmare and I am still trying to get the misrepresented charges refunded. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. It is bad news. read more

I have been a customer at this Orland Hills, IL storage facility and couldn't be happier about the service and upkeep at this facility. The facility manager, Brenda has been terrific and is extremely professional. My move-in to my initial storage unit went smoothly, and then my move-in to a second unit went just as smooth. I just combined units, so had to move-out of the smaller unit and Brenda was very helpful and processed my close-out of the one unit without any problems. I highly recommend this storage facility. Brenda was so patient in reviewing all the policies and explaining everything. She could commiserate with me in the storing of my 97 year old mothers things. She "got" how my mom saved slivers of soap for future use. I threw the soap slivers away, but she understood how those who survived the Great Depression reused and recycled before it became the standard today. I arrived 5 minutes before closing to sign the paperwork for my annual car storage. Brenda could not have been nicer during the process...took her time to fill out the papers and even took more time to show me the unit even though it was past closing time. DO NOT USE!!!! The longer you stay the rent just keeps going up. Mice were in my unit and there was no food in the unit ever. Items came out with mold smell too. The only up shot was Brenda who was always very nice to deal with. read more
