The man had the unit open and was lying on the floor inside the unit and had papers scattered all over. I was told by staff that it was normal around there and that they were paying customers. He told me he would move me to another unit on another floor and the place was even worse. The floors were all dirty and carpets appeared to have leak stains all over. There was a couple fighting up there and appeared to also be homeless. Not sure it is legal to have a homeless shelter inside a storage unit. I cancelled my reservation and got a refund.

I paid the monthly fees and insurance for 5 years. Every six months to a year, they raise the price to the point that by end of 2025, I was paying about $400.00 for the smallest unit when initially my contract stated and I paid less than $200.00 a month including the insurance. Not only that but when I forgot to make the January 1, 2026 payment, they sent me a reminder and I paid it on January 21, 2026, including the past due payment, late charges of $157.00, $50.00 for a lien fee, for a total payment made of $515.55. The payment receipt stated that the past due payments and all fees were paid on January 21, 2026 which brought the account current and stated that the next amount was due February 1 2026. On January 30, 2026, 9 days later they auctioned off my unit and I lost all of my children's keepsakes since birth among many valuables. I have the email that I paid the past due amount and my next payment was not due until February 1, 2026. THEY DID NOT EVEN NOTIFY ME THAT THE UNIT WAS BEING AUCTIONED OFF, BY PHONE, EMAIL OR IN ANYWAY WHATSOEVER. I FOUND OUT BECAUSE WHEN I WENT TO MAKE THE PAYMENT ONLINE, I DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO MY ACCOUNT AND CONTACTED THE FACILITY AND WAS TOLD BY DAVID THAT MY UNIT HAD BEEN AUCTIONED OFF ON JANUARY 30, 2026. ON THAT SAME DAY, JANUARY 30, 2026, THEY SEND ME AN EMAIL ADVISING THAT THEY HAD INFORMATION THAT MY UNIT WAS UNLOCKED OR IMPROPERLY LOCKED WHEN THEY KNEW IT WAS THEM THAT OPENED THE UNIT BY CUTTING THE LOCK ON THE UNIT.

Headed southbound on US1 to run some errands near The Falls, I could not help but notice this…read morebrand new 6-story building brightly illuminated in the evening. Hmmm ... what is this? Its name: "US STORAGE CENTERS." I made a mental note to give them a call the next day to inquire about their rates. When I called, the manager answered the phone. His name is Calvin. He was very helpful and he invited me to come check out the facility in person. Although it was two weeks later when I finally showed up in person, Calvin remembered my name. (Impressive memory!) He showed me a 10' x 10' unit (and offered me a special deal.) Calvin is extremely professional, cordial, courteous, and efficient ... a true pleasure to deal with! The facility itself is immaculate, well-lit, and climate-controlled (air-conditioned.) Elevators and moving carts are available. Security codes are required to enter the building and also to operate the elevators. Restrooms and drinking fountains are at your disposal. One of the best features of all is the large covered parking area/ loading/unloading zone. This means that neither you nor your belongings will get wet even when it's raining cats and dogs!

I've been patient too many times for packages lost, mail not distributed, lack of security and many other issues. The owners won't respond. They are content with having a rude, vial V.P. of Operations that justifies everything that they do wrong. I complained to him about my lost packages and his response is that it's not his responsibility - that ReadySpaces is "self-service" and they don't have to receive packages for the tenants... These are his words in an email to me: "Where you seem to decide I don't care is when you blame ReadySpaces for a package missing and I, in turn, tell you that I understand the frustration but it is not our responsibility." I've complained about the mail not getting picked up and distributed in mail slots that were put there - again, his answer... "we don't sort mail for our tenants". Mail delivered by USPS sits in the mailboxes until days later it's finally brought inside and all of it is dropped on a table (no sorting). The biggest issue at ReadySpace is upper management. They got rid of an amazing manager for no apparent reason. The current manager is helpful but it's obvious that her hands are tied and is guided to not go out of her way to help! I've had it with the VP's rude and unprofessional behavior... He mistreated me today as I've seen him be rude to other tenants. In his own word "he doesn't believe in customer service". I'll be looking for another place to go and my $24,000+ yearly rent to ReadySpaces will be gone as well. - There has been no consideration from ReadySpaces about the great tenants we have been for almost 3 years. The owners lack of follow thru is frustrating but the manager always eases the issue and ultimately gets stuff done. Despite verifying my identity multiple times, management refused to cut my lock for retrieval and attempted to charge a higher fee than stated in my contract. Although the contract allowed rental transfers, I was later told this wasn't permitted. It took nearly two months to regain access, resulting in unnecessary additional costs. Overall, a frustrating experience with no flexibility. I cannot recommend Spare Space Miami and property manager Suley Mehabat did everything she could to NOT help me. For someone moving to Dublin, Ireland shortly afterwards, I had to spend first 2 months with sub optimal clothing as I had over 100 ibs of belongings locked up in the US.
