I must truly say - THIS COMPANY IS BEYOND LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH A DEDICATED HARD WORKER. THE Girl is here 24/7. I can't possibly even fathom that she even has a life outside of her work. SHE NEVER LEFT DURING COVID or ANY PANDEMIC - INSTEAD SHE RISKED IT ALL AND worked as an essential worker throughout THE ENTIRELY OF EVERY pandemic. She's a master team player. Sick or not, she's always there - and if she's not the site will be shutdown. She manages over 1000+ units - the building is huge as it's three parts. Not only has she managed to maintain the grounds , the facility ect... alone. She has also set very high standards for her facility as it's beautiful , clean , and all good vibes. As for customer service- TOP NOTCH 10 Stars if possible. She'll most definitely leave you with a huge smile on your face. She is an ABSOLUTE assist to your company. I had a really frustrating experience with Public Storage in Melville, despite initially having a great impression. I visited the facility in person and thought it was clean, well-maintained, and exactly what I was looking for in a 10x10 climate-controlled unit. I was ready to move forward. Before booking, I called customer service on April 5 to confirm whether I could reserve a unit in advance for a May 13 move-in date. The representative told me to go ahead and make a reservation online using any start date, then call back and they would adjust it to May 13. I followed those instructions and paid the $30 admin fee (which, notably, could only be paid by linking a bank account--not a credit card). When I called back, a different representative told me that what I had been told was incorrect and that they could not change the start date. We asked to speak to a manager, who said they would process a refund. However, I never received anything in writing confirming the refund, and the money was never returned. Since the payment wasn't made by credit card, I also had no way to dispute the charge. This lack of consistency, accountability, and follow-through completely changed my experience. What started as a positive impression ended with me losing money and deciding to go with a different storage company. I would strongly recommend getting everything in writing before paying anything, especially since their customer service representatives seem to give conflicting information. read more

Truly the worst. If I could give them less than one star I would. The facility is a dirty and smelly mess where the 'security' gates are often broken - either always open, or will not open at all. Also, without name checking anyone, the manager is in clear need of training in regard to how to use their internal computer system, as he seems to have a tendency of merging multiple accounts for unrelated people, and exposing personal information like phone numbers, email addresses, and more. This happened twice to both myself and a family member over the course of several months. Imagine typing in your code to enter the facility and being welcomed with someone else's name. Imagine having full access to someone else's account information. Imagine randomly getting a call from said manager asking if you've closed your account and vacated your locker. No need to imagine these things when renting a storage locker here. And, when confronted on said nonsense, the manager's response - 'Reinstall the app'. Ahh, got it. Because that's how apps work. Also, great way to not be accountable for your own incompetence, so blame the app. That's not how it works my dude. For a long time, this location was fine for what it was. But, it has taken a major turn for the worst in recent months. That said, do yourself a favor and skip this location or this company altogether. There are plenty of other choices locally with more caring and competent staff, and cleaner and better maintained facilities. read more

Was a customer for over 8 years. Fell behind on payments and after I asked for a week to make payment I was refused. my things were sold off, I contacted multiple times to request that they pass my info on to buyer to try to recuperate my personal items that had no value like old id's. They never even got back to me. read more

I checked out of here on the last day of the month and subsequently got an email from Public Storage saying I owed a balance for the next month and they even sent me a text about it. While it was eventually taken care of, this facility was always lacking. One of the gates frequently had issues where it wouldn't even open after punching the code in due to some software issue. One night when I was leaving at 8:55, neither gate was working and I had to call Public Storage's corporate number to get an override. When I talked to the staff here about it, some snotty employee named Allison said I shouldn't even be leaving that late even though it was before 9 pm! Another time, I caught some kids trying to break into my unit. They somehow got a gate code and were scoping out random people going into their outdoor units. I wouldn't trust any valuables in a unit at this facility. read more

If you want to get ripped off soon after using this storage space, use these guys. I moved my extra household items into public storage in February. The cost was $94 plus $15 for insurance, totaling $109 As of my latest bill, they have increased my rent for the space by a whopping 40%!!!! I am now paying $131 plus $15 insurance, totaling $146!!!! A 40 % INCREASE is out of line and a lot more than inflationary rates!!!! In the small print of their contract it stated that it was a month to month lease which means they could raise prices at any time, FOR AS MUCH AS THEY WANT. I've only been there for 6 months and the Increase is 40%. What happens by years end?!!! This is a total rip off and I will be sure to tell everyone I know. read more

Danielle in the office is understanding and highly accommodating. She is truly the shining star. She did not try to sell me services or products I didn't need, which I sincerely appreciated. The other young lady in the office was very nice too. The facility is fairly clean. Restrooms were not available on my last visit, but it was fine. Very secure. Ample parking. Well lit. Convenient location. They offer u-boats, dollies & handtrucks to help you at no charge. Many different sized storage units as well. Try them out ... you'll be satisfied! read more

Very nice and helpful staff. Location is easily accessible, isles wide and well lit. One star shy of perfect because they are a bit lack-luster in their cleaning. Debris (nothing major) is often in the isles for weeks without anyone cleaning it. Despite this (overall) on a macro level, it is neat and well kept. read more

I was treated rudely and disrespectfully by an employee of this location. I was a customer of this location for approximately 10 years. Five months ago, I moved my stored items to the Public Storage location in Syosset. On Friday 8/23/19, I went back to the Melville location as I was considering moving my stored items back to Melville as it is more conveniently located for me. While at the location I needed to use the bathroom. I was told by Danielle that I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO USE THE BATHROOM. I told her that I was a very long term customer of Public Storage and had an active unit at the Public Storage Syosset location. DANIELLE ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO ALLOW ME TO USE THE BATHROOM. I have spent several thousand dollars with this company at this location and I was treated this way. Danielle is well aware of who I am and my long term customer status. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND LOOKING FOR OTHER STORAGE LOCATIONS TO AVOID BEING HUMILIATED AND TREATED THE WAY I WAS. I was the CEO of a consumer products company for many years, and If any of my employees ever treated a customer (or prospective customer) this way, they would have been terminated immediately. In my opinion, the staff at this location are arrogant and apparently have no value for customer relationships or goodwill. read more

The storage unit is nice. The place is clean... HOWEVER... I believe I am entitled to "light". I have two interior units across from each other, and there is a motion activated light in between. It stays on for maybe about 15 seconds and then you have to jump out of the unit and jump around under the lighting fixure, in exactly the right spot. It even goes out if you are under it, if you are not wiggling around and are just standing still. So how can I move things around in my units with NO LIGHT. I have to jump in, jump out, jump in, jump out, etc. Wouldn't that get you very annoyed? I've been telling them for over a year... they just don't care. Worse yet, the last person told me he checked it out and nothing is wrong. That adds insult to injury. Of course it was okay... he wasn't in my unit, he was under the light and moving around. read more

The location is very strategic. located at the intersection of Rt 110 and Northern Sate Pkwy., and just up the road from the LIE. My #1 complaint is a badly maintained automatic car gate that requires you to enter your code twice (most of the time). The outside property is well maintained. the interior could use with a bit of floor cleaning on a regular basis. This isn't an industrial warehouse, it shouldn't be this dirty so often. read more

When I dropped my things off 18 months ago, the facility was spotless. The website, email communication and billing are very well done. Issues: 1) on the basis of my experience and that of several others, the rental price WILL rise sharply after a few months. The employees will consistently deny this policy. 2) Unless you want to rent a space, it is difficult to get any one to speak with you. I have called 4 times, and although it is office hours, I get a message saying to call within office hours, and they will call me back. Ha ha, so far no return call. read more

My rent was just raised $28.00 a month only there 5 months wow! I went to the facility on January 7th with a full load in my truck and it turns out the elevator to the second floor is broken. No email notification I wasted my time driving in from Levittown. Better set your accounts to auto pay also because they will hit you with heavy charges if you are late by a day. This place is horrible, dirty, smells, and a bunch of rude and obnoxious workers. They dont support military even though they tell u they do they don't. They lie. This is coming from first hand a millitary wife and with her stuff n her husbands military stuff in unit and was vacated 1 day after grace period n they charged me 188.00 full price and basically said oh well.. I tried calling to speak to supervisors 15 times and not 1 call back but they were fast enough to put in collections. Rented from Public Storage a for a total of 20 months ending in July of 2013. After realizing some of our stuff was stolen from our unit, we contacted the district manager and informed him of what had happened. After many back and forth phone calls he finally tells me that there is nothing he can do. BUYER BEWARE!!! There are cameras but only on the spots that matter ONLY to the company. NOT TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. There was proof of a breakin however it looks like it was covered up. Bars were bent and then bent back to make it look like it wasnt tampered with. With a "reputable" name I would have thought their buildings were more secure. Never again! read more
