Hunter was able to single-handedly take the stress of relocating to a new city, down several notches. The next day, she even phoned to see if I had any follow-up questions and provided a resource for moving help should I need some extra muscle to help unload my Pod. Employees like Hunter are the thing that separate the Space Shop Self Storage from the universe of mediocre, run-of-the-mill storage facilities. I just needed a few pieces of furniture moved from one room to another, a small job.They assured me they could do that at their lowest rate: $239. When the bill came, it looked as though both charges were still there, so I called to ask why. This time, my charges were calculated differently. Now it was essentially $150 labor, $150 travel, and $50 fuel surcharge, totaling $350. That means they charged me $200 to drive 15 miles. Even if they came and returned from the same headquarters-- 30 miles away-- that's high, and I'd be willing to bet they went from job to job but charged every customer the "travel and fuel surcharge" as if they made every trip from their headquarters. Once here, they did a good job! But be advised that they have a different system for quoting than they have for charging, which result in a higher-than-quoted price. That left this customer feeling manipulated. Honesty would be a better policy.

The furniture was wrapped at that point. when they unloaded there was BLACK streaks all over my couches. my big couch was broken in the center. there is black dust all over the couches. They broke four bookshelves. several pieces of glass cause there is glass all throughout as I unloaded. The topper is while they were in my home and used the restroom one of them left a middle finger on my bathroom wall in the black dust. They offered @$200 to make things right which we have not accepted. The men talked non stop and goofed off. as I stated they were hired til 4:30. Being newbies at this we miscalculated the space needed. The units are clean and they provided a rodent prevention item. Aisles are a bit tight to maneuver the trailer moving trucks. Supplies are available in the office and are reasonably priced. I saw a black car parked in the handicap space every time I go there. There's no sticker or plate assignment on it. I'm very conscientious about things like that and if it's someone in the office, they should park along the fence. Plenty of space. If not, make that car park elsewhere or tow it. Again, we're very happy with our choice for storage and definitely recommend. I think that the issues with previous negative reviews have been resolved. We didn't encounter any problems they mentioned.

We had a great experience until it was time to remove our belongings. Some random neighbor had…read moreplaced their lock also on our door. We had no way to remove it since we didn't have a key. The employee that day was an hour late to work. We called the emergency number. It took maintenance 2 hours to arrive with bolt cutters to remove the unauthorized lock. All the while we had movers just sitting there that we had to pay by the hour. No apologies, no reimbursements, no nothing but attitude. Local management never returned any of my calls and corporate wasn't much better. I'll never use or recommend this place again which is sad because the beginning was so great.
