Hunter was able to single-handedly take the stress of relocating to a new city, down several notches. The next day, she even phoned to see if I had any follow-up questions and provided a resource for moving help should I need some extra muscle to help unload my Pod. Employees like Hunter are the thing that separate the Space Shop Self Storage from the universe of mediocre, run-of-the-mill storage facilities. I understand putting the facility close to areas of high traffic for advertising purposes but when…read moreit limits the ability to pull in, load and unload, park, leave the lot; I believe the sacrifice needs to be made by the company to think of the customer before the advertising. It is absolutely the worst location for all of the above. The entry and exit are right at the interstate on/off ramp on an extremely busy stretch of road. Pulling into the facility by making a left turn, you stand the chance of being rear ended as their is no turn lane to pull in. It is at the very start of a turn lane which other drivers most likely believe you will be making a left on the main road 100 yards down further. The facility itself is nice but if you want to unload a full size 26' U-Haul truck into units be prepared to move the truck 10-15x's as 2 full size trucks will block the way and make it impossible for anyone to get by. Drop offs are done literally at the entrance. which again makes it a pain to maneuver around there. The staff is decent, although like the reviewer before they will money you to death. Don't dare forget to call up before your billing date if you received a new debit card and you are on auto pay. They will not call you when the payment doesn't process, they will send you an email 1-2 days later and then charge you $15 late fee. If the staff forgets to click autopay when setting up the account and the payment isn't made until you get that email, again it's never the staffs fault and you are paying the $15 fee and that is per unit. Staff should learn the loyal customers who have used the facility for years versus the 1-2 month renters and be more understanding of things. When you rent a storage unit, it really isn't a high priority bill on your mind when getting new cards or switching banks. Hell mortgage companies and auto loan companies and almost any other company that you make monthly payments to gives 10 day grace periods. Again the staff is decent, who knows they could be handcuffed by their corporate over lords. The facility is clean, they do have a decent elevator and they have little dollies and carts on site for your use. Last thing the electronic card swiping is a pain, swipe to get in, swipe to use elevator, swipe to leave. Swipe to use a door to go up the stairs. Wel if I'm swiping at the door or elevator why doesn't that count as me checking in, if my vehicle isn't there any longer why doesn't that count as me checking out. I think there is a basement layer where they are hiding the gold from Fort Knox.

When I arrived back from Texas I was surprised the company had been purchased and they had no record of my previous reservation with Steven from Simpsonville Storage. Oh goodness what a mess, I soon learned the previous owner had lied to me and didn't bother to reserve or pass on any information even though it had only been a week. (He knew the business was up for sale and purposely lied to me and mislead me). Upon working with Karen at the new company, She helped me figure out all the paper work and managed to get me a unit the same day! Karen, is amazing! I was in a pickle for sure, and she was able to make it all work for us. I have been very impressed with her service and would recommend this storage facility. Its clean and the new company cares.

They are taking advantage of people who have to store their belongings for longer periods of time. Do not sign a lease agreement with them. Look for a company that has limits on how much they can increase your rate. Try to find an agreement that locks in your rate for the year. Do not do the month to month because at any time they can jack up the rate. This business is not regulated well enough. It's shady and takes advantage of people.
