Things were good when I moved in, but they have gotten progressively worse, and now, it's just silly. I moved my items into a 10x25 building that was leased to me at 167, with the cost of insurance ($15). That cost went up after two payments, to 181. I did not dispute that, it happens. 9 months later I was unexpectedly charged 247, a nearly 40% increase. I did dispute that. The attendant helped me get it knocked back down and it stayed that way for 6 months. That brings us to this mid January, a few weeks ago. After the heavy storms a panel fell from the ceiling. I looked up in the gaping hole in the ceiling to see the sky peeking through the roofing. I have broken items, overturned shelves, and wet yucky sheetrock all over the place. I walked to the front desk, explained the hole. Attendant says 'oh yeah, they haven't fixed that roof yet'. They are aware that there is no protection from rain/snow/ice and that everyone could have this problem, but they have not fixed it. I put in the work order to have the panel replaced and they told me they would call the roofers too. One contractor for the hole, another for the roof. Here's where it ended up. No one fixed the hole. no one fixed the roof. They said they have to have enough work orders open to warrant a contractor coming down from Charlotte to replace that hole. Recommended I cover my items with a tarp to protect them from the rain. They did not even clean up the mess. they left that for me. told me to sweep it outside of the unit, which I did, and it has stayed there for a week. broken glass and sheetrock. And then, I checked the app, and i guess this is how they 'inform' you... they were raising my rent again, to 247. I gave up on trying to get help and moved my items in to a new unit (same site) this weekend. This one also has stains and a broken light (they won't fix lights) but at least my items are dry and I am not slipping on sheetrock and water. Oh yes... i asked for a partial credit for the month of rent I paid in Jan, for the inconvenience and for the effort I have had to go through to settle this, and also because they did not protect my items. I did not receive that, but I did get a $25 credit. While $25 is a nice gesture it is nowhere near the amt that says 'I am sorry' or 'I care'. Even saying the words ' We are sorry' or 'we care', or taking the steps to fix the problem would have helped. Instead, they want me to pay nearly $300 a month for a unit that has rain openly pouring into it. read more

The whole process online is simple and easy to understand. Access is easy with the app. low cost.

I compared prices with 5 or 6 other and this place had the best rates. it is clean and well-run. The ladies at the front counter were professional, knowledgeable and helpful. They walked me to see several different sized building so I could decide what size and needed (in the heat! but they were very pleasant about it). I don't understand why the Storage Attendant doesn't have the authority to modify units and keep the same price. I was directed to do the online rental application and agreement and that it would be no problem with switching to a unit closer to my sister's unit. This was obviously not the case. More leeway needs to be given customer requests and service. The Storage Attendant was very kind in trying to accommodate but stated that the rates I got online would almost double if she switched units. Good looking out for your customers Miss. read more

I needed a small storage unit. The staff was very professional and efficient. I Judy didn't like the fact that there were hidden fees. I went in thinking I was going to pay just $25. After all fees and hoopla my bull was $65. Other than that my service was exceptional! read more

I loved their courteous attitude and felt well taken care of, initially Wendy and Amanda helped me go through signing in and Amanda made sure I had a storage bin with a low walk in step so, I could load the boxes myself. I also later needed to increase the amount of storage and Jamie helped me figure out adding on another storage bin a bit smaller in size but very affordable so that I didn't have to unload my other bin and merge the two into another larger storage bin. The only thing I can complain about is that the units are not climate conntrolled but I knew that going in. However, I have to say the customer service is on point...they called me to let me know I didn't secure my unit correctly. They call me with a friendly reminder (even on the weekends) that my payment is due.Aside from the hefty late fees...I'm satisfied. read more

I have never done an on line review before but I wanted to warn people against using this company. We rented a small unit to keep some of our things as well as my mom's things in it during a transition between homes. The first red flag was when my mom realized that the handle was rusty (on move in) and difficult to use. She asked for another unit and was told that if we wanted a different unit we would incur several extra charges (closing of one, opening of another, etc). We ended up just staying with the unit because we don't go very often. The next problem was that they insisted we have their insurance for our unit. We have an umbrella policy with our house/cars/life/etc and it specifically covers storage units. We faxed this to the Public Storage office twice and both times we were told it did not "count" so we kept incurring the insurance charge. The final problem was when we incurred our first late fee, which we fully realize was initially our fault. We had changed bank accounts for the move and forgot to transfer the autodraft form one to the other. Lisa called us and told us we had incurred a late fee and that we needed to send a check by mail. I asked if we could pay on line or any other way and she said no. I asked her to email me a bill/invoice and she said she could not do that. I asked her to send us a receipt upon receiving the payment and she said we "might" get a receipt if we sent with our check a self addressed stamped envelope. I asked if we placed a check for the amount she told me in the mail that day, would that bring our account current or would there be any late fees that week before the check arrived. She assured me there would be no problem. We placed the check in the mail that night. A few days later, on a Sunday afternoon, Lisa called us again, saying we needed to send another check for $20 to bring the account current. She said it was another late fee and that they had received our check but we needed to pay more. When I asked why the extra $20, since she had specifically said the initial check would bring us current, she said it was not her job to know when late fees would be charged and she hung up on me. We drove down the next day and removed our items from our unit and have terminated our contract with Public Storage. Not only did they have terrible customer service, but the pattern above suggests money is not being handled properly. We don't want to have anything to do with this company, and had we known up front how shady they are, we would never have done business with them in the first place. Our suggestion - STAY AWAY and take your business elsewhere!!! read more
