SOOOOOOO I wish that Yelp had a negative star rating or an ANGRY emoji rating. This all TRULY could have been resolved on the end of the PUBLIC STORAGE.
I called to make a reservation, the rep helped me figure out which unit I would need. He actually reassured me that everything would fit. He said he will send an email for me to pay for the unit so when I go to the facility, that I could go straight in to unpack. A few hours went by and nothing. I called back, spoke with another rep and he stated that it was not either saved or created and that's why I did not receive it. So he made the reservation for me and I received the email to move forward with my reservations. The next day I went to the facility with my 26ft truck rental. My friend and I walked up to the door and no one was there. There was a lady who was helping someone else who was standing outside of his car. We stood around to see if she was the one who worked there. The gentleman who she was assisting pulled off and she said as she was walking off. " No one is there". She walked into the live in space at the unit. My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief. We went to the truck and began to call customer service. We spoke with multiple people, either because the call dropped or they couldn't give us an answer. They were calling around to the other location down the street to see what the hours of operation were. UMM wait what , you don't know what the hours are? That is questionable. We sat out there for at least 30 minutes trying to get an answer. The lady who walked off when we first got there, came back out and said I know they charge you all for these trucks , so I am going to help you. We went in as she assisted us. . Half ass. She was more concerned with a situation that happened there that put her on the news. As she claims that she didn't do it and how this has affected her because of her personal life. Also blaming the other property manager for it. We weren't shown the unit, she didn't go over late fees, or when the bill was due or how we can get into the unit if we don't have our code. SO we left and got back around 2-2:30 to start loading the 26ft truck mind you. Keeping in mind that the facility closed as 9pm. So we got it all packed and went to the facility. It was 8pm. The facility was very tight for me to get through to look for our unit. The lighting is very poor, no numbers on the buildings and my son, his friend and my nephews had to get out of the vehicles to move the furniture that was in the way of me making the turn around the corner. Once I got around that corner, they went to look for the unit. Some of the doors had the numbers on them and some of them didn't. My son found our unit and guess what IT HAD A LOCK ON IT!!!! I called customer service and kept getting transferred back and forth between reservations and customer service at least 7 times. Calls dropped , and then they would not answer. I had to call on my sons phone, got through and for this lady to tell me that my only choices were to come back in the rising to get another unit. Or find another empty unit. UMMM okkkk. We found two, yet the first one had a broken door and had evidence of a fire. The other one had the ceiling falling in. I did choose to move the items into that particular unit, quickly finding out that all our things will not fit. I am looking at the time, have our house hold items in the truck, outside and in the unit. How is it that the two reservation specialist and the property manager couldn't tell me that the 10x20 would NOT house even one truck load, let alone the two other trips. So now it is past 9 , the unit is full, and the truck is reloaded. Remember the lighting was poor, so we had to utilize my cousins lights off of her car. Well now her car won't start and again it is past 9. SOOO my sons friend called his step-father to give her a jump. So I called customer service and told them what happened. They let him in,he got her car started and we were heading up to the front. To make a very drastic , aggressive, pain full , unnecessary and preventative situation with the police short. The cops were called because someone thought we were breaking into the units. After speaking to the lawyers they said we were all unlawfully detained (arrested) and should not have been more than a conversation of what happened. Especially after the supervisor spoke to the customer service rep of Public Storage and explained everything. They found out that the same space where the anonymous call said they saw us is where our unit was. Again we should have been let go. Also guns were drawn on my son, his friend and his friends step-father. Slammed up against the unit and then hand cuffed , then sat down on the ground. There were 8 cop cars with at least 2 officers in majority of them. Why so many and guns drawn and handcuffs. We were allowed to leave ,tired, frustrated, frazzled ,angry and overwhelmed with what we experienced. Part two.... read more
