While I am OK with account security, there is a point of handcuffing and inconveniencing the customer and that's where PS is with their process. When my account was created THEY failed to input my email address. Now when I went to setup my account on-line, I was unable to set it up as that is the connection point. So, you would think that I could call customer service and simply add my email address to my account. NO!!!!! that's not possible! I have to drive over to the local facility, sign something and add my email address, so I can in turn then create an on-line account to pay my bill. Absolutely absurd!!!!! read more

I started my contract at the end of December. I assumed my payments would start around the 27th of the next month and it was due on the first of the following month. I paid a full month rent for only 4 days. Not only that, I'm trying to move out on the 7th and I was told that my rent would not be prorated. Again, I have to pay a full month rent for only 6 days. Very inconvenient for someone that's moving 2 states away. That's money I could use towards the movers. read more

I was at another public storage (cayce) and was not too satisfied with my original location so when I went to another location to pay my bill I was told about my now current location on Garners Ferry. The property manager is AMAZING and was extremely helpful. Susann is very courteous. She even allowed us to create our own gate code so that we can actually remember it easily. Her property has better lighting, more space for navigation of large trailers, there are fire extinguishers everywhere, and she has a wonderful sense of humor (which to me in customer service is very important)! I will definitely miss her when the time comes to move our things out but we will definitely use her location again if we ever need to!!! P.S. they also have a restroom, that was very clean, for use even when the office is closed!!! read more

I rented this space online and the transaction was smooth. However, the unit I was assigned along with most of their units are not flush with the ground. There is about a 12 inch step up into the unit. I got this unit for heavy bulky items. This makes it near impossible to load by myself. I was very disappointed by this. Other than that the unit was clean and easy to locate. read more

Pubic Storage is conveniently located right off Garners Ferry Rd which is great for me and anyone else from the Lower Richland community. Emily was so the BEST!!! Not only was she efficient she was very knowledgeable about the property and the products they offer. She got us in and out quickly with no hassle. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for storage in the area. read more

So this is the first time I rent a space in this case for a camper. Getting the spot on line wasn't a problem at all. What I didn't like was the fact that I got my code and direction to the place the day of starting my rental. They s Ned me the number where I needed to park but when I got to the place the spots are not easy to see the numbers so I guested and park where I thought it was the right spot, I did called the number they supply in the messages and of course no body answer. I left and about an hour later I get a called about I was parked on the wrong place I told the person calling me I didn't see a number and just guested, well she asked if I could come back to move it, I agree to it, show up back and of course no one at the desk, call her and she reply with " can you come back in 30 minutes because I'm on my break", I reply no I can't I'm moving into a house which I guess she didn't care and when I said I can't wait and I would leave the camper where it is she threatened me with getting my camper towed, after going back and toward she finally give direction to the right spit and later meet me to make sure I was in the right spot. End of story camper is parked read more

Went by there today and was told that the price they quoted me was only for the day. Their prices change everyday. That sounds like price gouging doesn't it? read more

Wife and I rented a parking space for our camper August 13th. We set up auto payments through our checking account. We visited our camper several times putting camping supplies and equipment in it in anticipation of our first camping trip. I visited the camper on August 29th at 1:30 PM. Five days later I flew to Maine to spend three weeks in the woods in a cabin on a pond with my wife and grandkids. We returned to Columbia in late September. On Saturday October 7th we went to the facility at 10:45 AM to add final items for our camping reservation at Hickory Knob SP on October 13th. Our camper wasn't there! We went to the office and informed the staff that the camper was missing. We called police. Richland County Sheriff's department responded in about 30 minutes. Staff said they would review video surveillance. The next day around 1 PM I returned to the facility to see if they had had any success looking at video. Turns out they did. Our camper was stolen on September 15th at 11:15 PM by someone driving a silver Lincoln Navigator. Now bear in mind this facility has a strict "no gate access after 9 PM". When I asked the attendant how this person was able to gain access through the gate, she informed me the gate had been damaged by the recent hurricane and as a result was left wide open 24 hours a day for "about a week". I asked her if they added extra staff temporarily during this week. She said No. Did you place any kind of temporary barrier, sign, cable, cones, or vehicle in front of the open gate? She said No. Did you at least notify customers who now had vehicles exposed to the general public, so they could at least decide if they wanted to temporarily move their vehicles? Again, No. So for a week, this "secure" facility left the only main access gate wide open all night for a week. Management's response to this was they could not block the gate because it would prevent customers from gaining access to their spots after hours or before 9:30 AM. So Monday-Friday the facility was unmanned after 6 PM and after 5 PM on weekends. No heads up email, no phone call, no extra personnel, didn't even leave the lights on! Our camper would have been more secure in the Wal Mart parking lot. read more

I have had several storage places over many years due to frequency of moving and military service. This has been the best with which to work. They are very friendly, helpful and the units are very clean and dry. No issues at all. read more

I signed up with Public Storage 4 years ago before moving overseas. I asked for their best rate. I got a unit for $79 a month. Watch out for the fine print. They increase the price constantly. It went from $79 to $89...then $89 to $99 ...and now $99 to $116. Living overseas, I can't justify flying expenses to return and move my stuff. I spoke with the local manager who is quite courteous and friendly she told me the rate increases were done on a corporate level. I spoke with the customer service by phone and email and only received "corporate speak" about how their rates are competitive and necessary to adjust for cost of living increases. I live on Social Security which uses US government index for Cost of Living...in the last 2 years the US government COL increase went up .03% yes point 03....30 cents per $100. Public Storage has gone up 32% in 4 years which they claim is justified and competitive. Rain water gets in my unit on a hard rain. read more
