I want to start by thanking the employer who appointed Dan as the leader of staff at this location. He showed professionalism and a placid inclination and disposition.
I have stored my personal belongings on this property for several years now without issues besides the price which continues to go up the longer I stored with them and a handful of altercations with the girl in the main office. My dad put my unit under his name but never stored anything on the property. Unfortunately my father died about 3 months ago and as I went to make my payment for the unit, I opened my fat mouth about his death and the young girl who runs the office, during the day not only refused to allow me to make the payment at that time but was completely insincere to me as I told her my dad died unexpectedly. Before hurricane Irma, I had worries about damage therefore moved whatever I had left of him to the unit including police equipment as he served over 30yrs with the sheriffs office. Recently I had a home invasion where my keys were stolen, my truck vandalized and 9 firearms taken. My storage unit keys were attached to one of the stolen sets of car keys and i received certified letters from public storage disclosing a lien on my property because of failure to pay. Because of this I paid the amount owed online along with late fees because i was refused payment at the beginning of the month. I put the serial numbers to the weapons in my unit and now need them to give the police. My father was not married and I am the only child, next of kin. The young woman who works downstairs had me pay an additional $13 of late fees and THEN proceeded to tell me that she would not allow me to enter the unit and I needed to present them with a death certificate which I also stashed in the unit, and a notarized affidavit showing I am now the legal owner of his estate meanwhile they know he never stored anything in their units. No problem I said and asked then they will allow me in the unit and she told me no as she ignorantly rolled her eyes at me and said it's not up to them, that they have to mail it to California and they will make the decision wether they want to allow me to regain access to my property or not. So i disappointedly asked her how long that usually takes as she shrugged her shoulders at me and said it's a long process. I told her i dont have that much time that I needed to give the police certain documentation from the unit and she shrugged again. I asked her if I needed to continue making payments every month to a unit I am being denied access to and she said yes if I didn't want my things sold at auction. So I asked if it could take months? And she said it could, that it is different for every situation. I WOULD have given my rating 1 star had I not spoke with Dan (the property manager or GM) this evening. Had it been possible, I'd have given a 0 star rating for how ignorant and rude to me the girl was especially to make me feel as worrisome as she made me feel with her choice of words and negative body language. Her unprofessionalism has caused me to frantically worry about losing all I had left of the only person I had in my life. Gratefully, I arrived before Dan punched out of work because he KINDLY AND SINCERELY explained how quick and easy the process of me regaining access to my unit will be. He was immensely comprehensible to the entire situation. I speak for both my father and I when I say that as opposed to the girl who has ALWAYS been distastefully discourteous every time I've approached her in the past.
